Chapter 1 Dream
“On my life, you don’t have enough dick to fuck me and you got the nerve to be talking about fucking an exotic bitch! Well, go fuck the bitch then!”
Case ducked down as I threw my wine glass at him. His friends in the room laughed. That further pissed him off.
“Dream you better stop fucking playing with me!”
“Fuck you!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
I stormed out of the living room. He followed closely behind me. I was done playing with him. This was not a game. I was so sick and tired of arguing with this fool. Just because he paid all the bills and took care of me he thought that he could do anything that he wanted to. I was nobody’s fool. He was in here bragging about bitches and money like he was right.
If you ask me his latest idea of bossing up was being a damn trick!
Every bill in the damn house was due and I just walked in on him telling his nothing ass homeboy that he just blew eight thousand dollars on a bad mixed Brazilian bitch, and yet I couldn’t even get him to pay for a funky ass Brazilian wax. Hell, he ain't never went to no fucking Brazil so where he meet this bitch at? He didn’t have a license let alone a passport so some chick had gamed him like she was exotic. The lies this fool told!
We were all chilling in the house on a Friday night. He told me he wanted to cook fried chicken, macaroni, and collards so that’s what I did. I wasn’t too much of a partying mood or pretending tonight so after all the food was done I made me a plate and I went back to my room to read a book.
Stepping out of my dress, I put on some jeans and t-shirt. Sliding on some socks and my Nike slides I had a change of heart. I was getting out of here. Case was not going to keep trying to embarrass me in front of his friends. I was better than this shit here. I was no longer going to continue putting my life or my heart on the line for his ass.
I thought he was going to try to stop me but he didn’t. He followed behind me to make sure that I got all my stuff.
“If you leave take all of your shit Dream. Don’t think you going come back. Go run to that nigga that knocked your ass up!”
I stopped throwing my shit in the bag and looked up at his ass.
“Well, you know what I won't come back. I’m sick of your big attitude and your little dick! You just took a load off my chest.”
“Well, my new bitch loves it. And your ass is dead to me!”
“Good for her. She can have your ass and all the drama that comes with being with you. Dead… funny you would say that when you are a dead man walking!”
Slinging my Pink backpack on my shoulder I walked out and never looked back.
Chapter 2 Star
A successful woman takes the bricks thrown at her and builds her own foundation. That was my motto. Growing up broke and in poverty I knew that there had to be more to life. I can’t even lie and give you one of those stories that my people were alcoholics or were on drugs because they weren’t. Maybe times were just hard and they gave up and said fuck it.
I don’t know but some people don’t have a will to live. I think that’s where my mother was after my father died. I was thirteen when he passed as a result of a car accident. My mother was a stay at home mother and had never worked so this was hard on us. My father was the king of our castle bringing in the bacon. We suffered a major loss. It was at that point that she broke in spirit as if she was not already broke financially.
I wont say that my mother didn’t love me because I know she did she just didn’t show it. I used to think she was crazy but she was clinically depressed. She did the best she could.
She tried.
By the time she paid all the bills and made sure I had my basic needs were barely had money for food. There were many nights I went to bed eating wish sandwiches, wishing for something to go between those two slices of bread. I never wanted to be a burden or complain so I dealt with things the best I could. We were never evicted or had anything disconnected but shit was cutting close.I promised myself that when I got old enough I was going to take care of my mother.
Walking across the stage getting my degree in nursing to become an RN was one of the happiest moments of my life.
Unfortunately my mother died when I was just starting the program. I pushed through just for her. She would have been so proud. I know she died from heartache.
While in school I met this girl named Fukayna Wallace. Me and her became real tight. We both had goals to become registered nurses and wanted to make our mothers proud.

It’s something about a thug that just excites me. Eyeing this fine dark chocolate eye candy before me had my panties in a drench. I couldn’t move I was so mesmerized looking at the fine stranger before me. My shorts were sticking to my thighs and my shirt was clinging to my body as I fanned myself in the summer heat.
Kayna’s mother threw us a graduation party. I had grown close to her mother in the last two years of school. Thankful to be finished school it was time to celebrate before I accepted my new job out of town.
I felt someone was looking at me and I was right.
Damn he was fine!
The guy must have known the effect that he was having on me as he smiled back. His lips looking good enough for me to want to suck his damn face off. The temperature was rising between my thighs as I walked in his direction.
“I see you Star.”
Kayna walked up and stood close to me, handing my thirsty ass a much-needed drink. Kayna was a thick chick. Her long thick hair framed her face in layers to her shoulders.
The dj was playing Frankie Beverly and Maze. The backyard smelled good with the scent of grilled food floating in the air. Picnic tables, lantern lights, loads of food, and people were everywhere having a good time on the dance floor and playing cards. Some sat around talking and stuffing their faces and then there was a group of people over to a corner in the large yard pitching horseshoes, hitting the stakes.
My mind and eyes wandered back to the fine guy and his friends. I wondered what the stakes would be with me seeing more of him.
I gulped my drink down because I needed to quench my thirst. I really wanted to taste that man but this beverage would do for now.
“Star, why are you acting like that fool is the finest thing you ever seen damn?”
I didn’t even notice my friend staring at me as I stared.
“Girl its nothing wrong with looking.”
“Chile boo. You want to do more than look. Girl them niggas wild and heavy in the streets. You don’t want no parts of that shit. I’m trying to tell you friend they will fuck up your life.”
Although she was joking I should have taken her seriously.
I started dancing hoping to get noticed and singing the lyrics to the song by DJ Telly Tellz, Fuck it Up Challenge.
Kayna sucked her drink with a straw and rolled her eyes at me before she said, “Say no more. Come on let’s get some ribs before there are none left.”
“Hell, yeah I have not eaten a thing all day.”
“Damn you not just thirsty you’re hungry too!”
She grabbed my arm and led me towards the grill. The scent of the barbecued meat had a si
ster’s stomach talking to me. We were headed in the right direction, towards the meat!
There were a few males by the grill when we got over there.
She had on a cute dress that left little to the imagination as she sauntered her tall frame. She was almost six feet tall and one hundred sixty pounds but you couldn’t tell because of her height. Girlfriend towered over my five foot four frame.
My heart beat faster and faster as we got to the grill area.
All eyes were on us.
The fine stranger that I feasted my eyes on damn near the party stood next to her father Pops.
That’s when I noticed the resemblance. Pops was not bad on the eyes either but Ms. Hope would fuck a bitch up about that one. Good looks must have run in that family.
My mind was now wandering what this guy’s relationship to the Kayna and Pops. I was damn sure about to find out who my future baby daddy was related to.
My girl never told me her people was this damn fine. She had been holding out on me.
Pops smiled showing his gold tooth in the front with his salt and pepper hair.
“Hey ladies. I’m so proud of both of you. Nursing school was not easy but yall did it.”
He hugged Kayna. They were both the same butter pecan complexion.
The eye candy walked up and hugged her next. He was just waiting on his moment. He reached out to hug me next before Kayna put her hand to his chest.
Pops found this whole thing hilarious. “Boy I tell you. Case you are something else.”
“What? I just want to hug the graduate.”
His voice was masculine and sounded so good coming out of those lips that I wanted to just suck on as he shrugged his shoulders and laughed.
Ms. Hope was walking across the yard with a big bowl of pasta salad. Pops rushed to help her although she didn’t need any help. I loved talking to them. They were a sweet couple and Kayna had a dope family. They had welcomed me right in when I would come over all the time. The couple hugged up on each other as they were so proud that their daughter graduated. I smiled at the happy couple. I hoped for a love like theirs one day.
Since I was still daydreaming and in my own thoughts my friend made my plate.
I didn’t even hear her talking to me again.
“Star, you have been in lala land the whole damn cookout! Take your plate.”
Case sat beside me, sipping a beer and she sat across from me.
“My bad girl. Today just been a busy day and I had a lot on my mind.”
Normally not one to eat in front of a man that I was feeling I tore my plate up. Now it was time to get down to business.
“Kayna you are rude as fuck. I guess I’ll have to introduce myself.”
“Shit you done sat your ass right here and watched her wolf down a plate and got up to get seconds. You could have and should have done so already. Hell, you even tried to hug the hell out of her. What do you need me for?”
Kayna was always clowning. Hell, I didn’t care who made introduction. He had been cool and we had laughed and joke as we ate. Up close and personal he looked even better than when we were a distance apart. Closed mouths don’t get fed and I love to eat, so I was going speak.
“Star is my name. Me and Kayna went to school together. She never mentioned anything about you Case, but it’s definitely a pleasure to meet you.”
He reached over to touch my hands and I felt electricity, “Naw lil mama the pleasure is all mine.”
Pleasure sounded nice right now. I just creamed all over myself. He was too damn sexy. Those tats looked so perfectly placed on his arms, he had sleeves. His beard was thick and well-trimmed, bald head with freckles on the bridge of his nose. Even the gold bottoms he had was attractive and I normally didn’t go for guys who fit his description.
I swear to god, this was some love at first sight shit.
Kayna looked back and forth between the both of us.
“Mane, bruh! You are not going to mess with my best friend. Kayna stop sweating my funky ass brother. And those other guys over there is Eric and Lo.”
She pointed to the guys he was talking to when I first noticed him. They waved and came over to make small talk. Everything they were saying fell on deaf ears. I only wanted to talk to Case.
Looking at his clothes I noticed we matched. This lil baby matched my fly. I’ll be damned.
“Girl don’t be smiling all in my brother’s face. He ain’t shit.”
“Now why would you say that?”
“Kayna stop being a damn hater. I got a few things I need to do so I’m going catch yall later.”
He got up to go with his boys leaving me and Kayna to talk more.
Case looked at me but he was talking to Kayna when he said, “I’ll come kick it with you before the party ends.” He winked at me and I blushed showing all my teeth.
Ms. Hope approached our table. She had been a nurse for almost twenty years that’s the reason Kayna was following in her footsteps.
“Star I am so glad that Kayna has a friend like you who is so focused. I know your mother is in heaven smiling down on you.”
I didn’t want to get all sentimental so I just nodded my head and smiled. Today I ws only going to think positive thoughts. I was happy for me and Kayna. My best friend of the last two and a half years used to be a party animal before she finally decided to get herself together.
“Thanks Ms. Hope. I am truly blessed to have a good friend like Kayna. And I just want to say yall did yall thing with this party. I am really enjoying myself.”
“Ma that is not all that she is enjoying. She is enjoying your son too.” Kayna cut in.
“As fine as he is you should have been told me about him.”
“Star? That’s my son and all but don’t be a fool. I’m just going leave it at that.”
“It’s all good. It’s not that deep.”
“That’s what you say now.”
“Ma you have no filter.”
Why did it seem like everyone was telling me to leave this nigga alone and he came with a disclaimer?
Chapter 3 Case
Tired from getting this money I had to show up for my baby sister Kayna’s graduation party. After I put all my money in the nightstand by the bed all I wanted to do was get in bed. As I lay in the bed with Dream beside me snoring loudly all could do was think of Star.
Nothing like a beauty with brains.
Dream tossed and turned in bed sliding close to me throwing her leg on me, with slobber on the corners of her mouth.
I wish my wife Dream’s savage trap queen ass had both beauty and brains. I wish for one day that she was that kind of woman. Looking at her resting, baby girl was nothing but a beautiful nightmare.
She was the type of female that on the outside looking in every dope boy or street nigga wanted. She was a down ass bitch and she was my rider but I did not want a home boy I wanted a woman.
How can I explain….
It was more to this marriage than being down to ride and holding shit down in the street. I won’t lie my wife did that part but what people did not see was all the constant stressing and insecurities. It started off small with Dream smothering me and being way too possessive.
Tonight, I was lucky.
No man wanted to be home arguing for an hour about a stupid ass picture that she shared on IG or FB.
Let me tell you how shit would play out. My wife was a fine thick woman. She could not keep her ass out of a mirror. She had selfies for days and more pictures of us that she could post. Just the other night she put a picture of us up when we were in my car about to ride out. The caption went to the effect of some shit like, “Power couple.”
What the hell did she post that picture for?
She already knows that I was trying to make a name for myself in the streets and females ate shit like this up. The truth was she was not the only one trying to be the only one.
“Babe look at our picture. We cute ain’t we?”
Dream held the phone
across the table to me showing me some of the pictures from earlier. She had only snapped about twenty pictures within the last hour. No soon as the images of us went up people started liking and commenting and her phone buzzed through dinner. I really didn’t care too much for social media but that was her shit so I let her have it. Although my ol’ lady never caught me slipping on her and I was not really doing shit to give her that idea I stayed off all that shit to avoid the drama. I knew how sheisty females could be because she was kind of petty when she wanted to be.
Dream was on some mess like, look bitches I got that nigga yall want. She may as well have posted that as her caption for 99.9% of her posts.
