by Williams, Elton J.

We run into a yard of a neighbor their door is wide open and we went to the kitchen to get some food that we can eat, it's getting darker we look down the street to the police station but it's destroyed just some lights flickering and the dead moving inside and on the streets, we come to the ally way behind our house jump over the fence and into our back yard. I told Eric to hold on because we don’t know if any of the dead can be around or in the house, we move slowly to the back door and look around. I look for our spare key that my dad used to hide under his toolbox, Eric finds it between some screws and I unlock the door and we went inside.

We look around to check if all the doors and windows are close and everything is like it was when we left that day for the beach and I made us something to eat and we move some furniture in front of some of the windows and front door. After some hours we fell asleep and its pitch black outside just the odd flickering street light here and there, then the sounds of cars stopping in front of our house woke us up. Eric asked, “Pete, who can it be?” I replied, “I don’t know but keep your voice down”. We grab our wooded baseball bats and when to the front door, some people get out of the cars two ladies a child and some men. Then someone knocks on the door saying “Hello open up”. He pushes the door and it goes open, we stand ready to beat him down. He comes inside and we start hitting him to the ground he says, “Guys wait it's me, your brother James.
