Tess smiled and kissed Brooke. “Thank you.”

  “For what?”

“For not thinking I am crazy.”

Brooke pressed her palm to Tess’s cheek. “Tess, I have learned a few things in my life. I see people come into this world every day. I see the way their parents look at them, and the way they look at each other. I see the way a brother looks at his baby sister. I don’t think it is crazy at all.”

  “You don’t?”

“No,” Brooke took a deep breath. “When I got dizzy today?”

  “Yeah?”

“Well, you’ll think I am crazy.”

“I doubt that,” Tess said honestly.

“It was like I was floating. Like I was looking at you, but then I could see us both for an instant. I can’t even explain it. It was more like a feeling that coursed through me. Like a glimpse of our life in one second. It spun like lights and then it just went dark.”

Tess kissed Brooke. “What did you see?”

“It was like an impression. Like someone telling me that this is where I was always supposed to be and where I would always be.”

“He would have loved you,” Tess said.

“Well, I love him,” Brooke said. Tess tipped her head. “He’s part of you, Tess. He’s part of the reason that you are you. And, if he had any part in bringing you to me, I owe him my life.”

  “Me too.”

Brooke pulled Tess back into her arms. They remained silent, finding peace in each other’s arms. Tess wasn’t sure how much time had passed before Brooke spoke.

“So? Am I a Sinclair now?” Brooke asked.

Tess giggled. “I don’t know. Maybe I am a Campbell. Does it matter?”

“Maybe not to us,” Brooke said. “To the kids, it might.”

“How come we never talked about this?” Tess wondered aloud.

“Because it doesn’t matter to us,” Brooke replied.

  “What are you thinking?”

“I never thought I’d need a hyphen,” Brooke chuckled. Tess craned her neck to look at Brooke. Brooke grinned. “God, Campbell-Sinclair is so long,” Brooke observed. Tess’s eyes flew open. “Well? It has to be in there. I mean the kids are Sinclair and we aren’t changing that.”

  “I like it,” Tess said.

“You would. You love words. You should be a writer,” Brooke cracked.

  “Cute, Brooke.”

“I think anyone else who comes along should just be a Sinclair, though,” Brooke said.

Tess looked up again. Brooke was musing aloud. “Anyone else?”

“Yeah. I love to torment the kids, but imagine having to write Campbell-Sinclair in kindergarten? No way. That’s just plain mean.”

Tess laughed. “Given this some thought, have you?”

  “Only since yesterday.”

  “Yesterday?” Tess asked.

“Yeah. I wasn’t sure you’d be open to that idea.”

“What idea? Having kids? Brooke, I love you. Why wouldn’t I want to have kids with you?”

“Ummm…Because we have two already—and Murphy.”

“I wasn’t sure you would want to,” Tess told Brooke.

“I do. I don’t know about this birthing idea of yours, though.”

Tess laughed. “I’d love a baby with bright blue eyes.”

“Uh-huh,” Brooke said. She knew she would never deny Tess anything.

“So, what does that mean? Am I Mrs. Campbell-Sinclair?”

“Sure,” Brooke said. “Why not?” Brooke chuckled. “Holy shit, Tess.”

  “What?”

  “We are married.”

  “Regrets?”

“Nope, but you are filling out all the paperwork.”

“Happy to,” Tess said. “No one can read your writing anyway,” she teased. She felt Brooke giggle. “Thank you,” she said, stretching up to place a kiss on Brooke’s lips. “Everything was perfect today.”

  “Really?”

  “Really, Dr. Campbell.”

  “That’s Dr. Campbell-Sinclair.”

  “It is long.”

“It’s classy,” Brooke said. “Makes us sound smart and rich.”

Tess laughed as she snuggled against Brooke. “I guess it does.”

“Hey! I am married to Wonder Woman! That means I own fifty percent of that lasso now.”

“Yeah, but you have to find it first.”

“Don’t make me angry, Diana. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”

Tess rolled her eyes and held Brooke more tightly. “Goodnight, Dr. Banner.”

Brooke sighed in contentment. “I love you, Tess.”

“I know, love. I love you too.”
