by Joshua Idemudia-Silva

I njustices against men he hated,

  N umerous times he failed,

C ourageous was his second name,

O thers wrote him off at a time,

L ots of people opposed him,

N ow he is father of America.

  MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

Few men operated from that realm,

Many thought his chances were slim,

The lamp of racial division grew dim,

As one man moved with a dream,

  A black preacher stood up,

The system on ground was too odd,

He dreamt of change and cried to God,

Now we know it was his call.

  Many before saw that gap,

But who could go and bell the cat?

His words to men revealed the facts,

They saw the dream and walked the path.

Many lives came out of iron,

Not even the bullet of a demon,

Could stop ‘the dream from God’s kingdom’,

  Martin Luther King Jr.

  ENGLAND

  E ngland is an isle,

N ot too large in size,

G reat is her influence worldwide,

L earning is done in her mother tongue,

A lmost all over the world,

  N othing but wisdom,

D istinguished England; the Queen’s land!

  ENTREPRENEUR

E ngaged in producing goods and services,

N eeds of the people to meet,

T irelessly he has to work,

R esourcefulness a most needed ability,

  E nthusiastically he must strive,

P erseverance must dog his paths,

R esilience and courage his watchword,

E xperience in the field sure counts,

N ot out for profit initially but survival,

  E ntrepreneurship is risk taking,

U nderfunding is the bane of small business

R esolve to succeed and you will.

  SUCCESS

  Success is a process,

  That by understanding men access,

Your purpose first you must detect,

Upon your plans you must reflect.

Success is likened to a journey,

Upon set goals you ride like a donkey,

  Its pathway could be lonely,

But it comes with friends aplenty.

  Work at it to succeed,

  Sleep at it and recede,

  Success is attainable,

  You must believe it’s possible.

Go on the journey with like minds,

  Don’t commence and look behind,

Ahead is that pearl you must find,

  Distractions alone you leave behind.

  PATIENCE

  Patience can stare at suspense,

And hold on despite its tense,

It could become your greatest defense,

  Against the forces of delays,

  Patience really is a virtue,

  The benefits always accrue,

Those who endure take their due,

With rewards coming out of the blue,

A test to pass before your breakthrough,

To check if to your dream you’re true,

The patient most times are few,

Whose desires come like the morning Dew?

A patient lion captures the prey,

Of course they know when not to stay,

For it’s foolish watching your prey escape,

If you need to dash and catch your game!

  FREEDOM

I could give all my gold to be free,

The confined can’t go on a spree,

The joy of life is to be free,

For bondage is also a mill.

  Fight for your freedom,

Or you may die in the iron,

  Forget the kingdom,

  If you lack this wisdom.

  Freedom is demanded for,

  Negotiate and use force,

  Accept nothing less,

  You must go full length.

  Anyone caught in a crime,

  Must do the full time,

  Fools value not freedom,

  Unless they’re kept behind bars,

  Mandela sacrificed his freedom,

  To give a people freedom,

  What a show of wisdom,

  His people gained freedom.

  DEMOCRACY

D esigned to give the people power,

  E nemy of the tyrant,

M en decide who to follow,

O ffices are designed for service,

  C hoose by your vote,

  R efuse to be deceived,

  A sk for your right,

  C ount every vote,

Y ou have a right to good leadership.

  THE BEAUTY OF TRUE LOVE

  The beauty of true love,

Is the bringer of real joy!

  Many search with great toil,

But never enjoyed its real spoils

  The beauty of true love,

  Holds lovers spellbound,

For what to some is a cross?

  To them it’s ecstasy profound.

  The beauty of true love,

  Like pictures of roses,

  In backgrounds of azure,

  Gently unfolding in phases

  The beauty of true love,

Could be felt via a touch,

A touch that says so much,

Caressing the heart of your love.

  THE HOLY BIBLE

  Powerful enough to straighten crooks,

Never overlooked by any wise duke,

  A bestseller like new,

  The book!

The book has come a long way,

Can’t be denied of its place,

  Believe its contents for grace,

And soon you’ll become an ace.

  Much more than a book,

It is the reality of life,

Words to put on as a cloak,

To give you the spirit of might.

Wisdom from the Ancient of days,

So man can overcome the devil,

  Abundance in life to gain,

No book like the Holy Bible.

  MY WIFE

  O woman of my Life,

The love that is my wife,

  Love greatly multiplied!

  TO MAMA

  No mother like mama,

  Multi-faceted roles,

  Only mama plays.

  TO PAPA

  Papa my progenitor,

  He had to work,

Now I live and can sing!

  NELSON MANDELA

  All hail Mandiba!

  The great Nelson Mandela,

  He freed South Africa!

  AWO!

  Obafemi Awolowo,

  The Crown Nigeria never wore,

  Till date!

  MUAMMAR GHADAFI

  Muammar Ghadafi

  Of Power you were greedy,

  But death loosened your grip!

  FOCUS

  I refuse distraction,

My heart is on one path,

  My heart and plough; one

  THE WORDSMITH

  Working to mend with words,

  Writing and speaking to hearts,

  I must make sense.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I just love to philosophize, think and imagine. And these ideas I bring out in the form of poetry, short stories and novels. I believe that change for the better is infinitely possible.

In my poetry I try to concentrate many words into a few with the sole aim of making the reader pause for a while and ponder. MY GREAT INSPIRATIONAL POETRY PICTURE BOOK is my first book published on Amazon kindle. I can be contacted by email: [email protected]
