At exactly three o’clock the ceremony began. Brod guiding his sister through the smiling sea of guests to where the celebrant was waiting on the flower-decked dais of
Kimbara’s ballroom.
“Be happy, Ally,” Brod whispered, “feeling a consuming rush of love for her.
Be happy! Ally thought. I’m borne up on wings.
Her hand on her brother’s arm, she walked straight to where her bridegroom was standing, straight and tall, his handsome head with the glitter of gold. Now. after all
these years I’m going to marry the person I’ve loved all my life!
