Peyton Arrington: Aiden’s sister. She is the floater in the Queen Bee’s clique. She is in their group, but is in many activities. She doesn’t always agree with what Whitney does, and knows that Whitney considers her competition, but she does like being part of the popular group and sometimes finds herself doing things she knows she shouldn’t, just to impress Whitney. She is a dancer and soccer player, even though Whitney thinks girls getting sweaty is not cool. Soccer is her escape from the mean girls.
Katie: Katie is Keatyn’s roommate, on the dance team, perky bouncy brown hair w/expensive highlights. She’s petite, button nose, big boobs. She doesn’t always make the best decisions when it comes to alcohol and boys.
Annie: Is in French class with Aiden and Keatyn. She’s into photography, a Facebook addict, has a delicate bone structure, perky nose, pretty complexion, frizzy hair that Keatyn straightens. She’s a junior and still a virgin. She dates Ace and then eventually, Jake.
Maggie: Maggie is blunt, funny, also on dance team. She pretty much doesn’t give a shit about Whitney and her group. She just wants to get through high school without an addiction or eating disorder. She can’t decide if she wants the hassle of having a boyfriend, or the shame she feels when she hooks up with someone. She used to date Logan, but they broke up.
Bryce: One of the popular boys. Adorable blond with freckles. Shorter. His room is across the hall from Aiden’s.
Ace: Massive, tall with brownish blond hair, beak-ish nose, smart, nice body. Comes off as a jerk and a doorknob, but is smart and pretty nice.
Logan: A hot junior at school. Used to date Maggie. Good friend of Aiden. Lacrosse star with a muscular back.
Brad: Super sweet and overachiever. Social Club.
Miss Praline: French teacher, a little disheveled most of the time.
TWISTED DREAMS MUSIC
Most of the songs I have written started from a dream or a lyric or tune that keeps playing over and over in my head. Interestingly enough, although I took years of piano and organ lessons and even accompanied my youth choir, I’ve never felt musically gifted. Why? I have a terrible singing voice. However, I can remember the words to every song I’ve ever loved the second I hear the tune. And when I hear music in my head, it’s at the perfect pitch and tone. I just can’t get it to come out of my mouth that way. Which turned out to be quite a challenge when trying to find someone to bring the music to life for my readers.
In this section, you will find the lyrics for the songs I wrote for Twisted Dreams. Although I knew how they sounded in my head, I never really thought readers would get to hear them.
But as the series progressed, and the fan base grew, I wanted to do something special for them as the series ended.
When I imagined the band Twisted Dreams, I pictured them sounding like The Click Five.
When I was looking on iTunes for music for the Hate Me soundtrack, I found out that their former lead singer, Kyle Patrick, was now a solo artist. I contacted him, told him about the series and, long story short, he was able to set some of my lyrics to music and perform them.
The process was amazing, and I hope you all enjoy the songs as much as I do.

Sorta Like Fate
Sorta Like Fate - Acoustic version
Twisted Dreams Album
The song, ‘Sort of like Fate’ came to me in a dream. This was while I was writing the book, Kiss Me. I woke up with the melody in my head and spent all day trying to remember the lyrics. The crazy thing about it is in the dream Damian was on stage singing this song to Peyton. At the time, I hadn’t even plotted that they would end up together! As you all know now, though, this song is all about Keatyn and Aiden’s journey.
Anyway, Kyle took this song and made it—literally—the song of my dreams.
Here are the lyrics:
Sorta Like Fate
You’re my faith and inspiration,
You're the ink in my tattoo.
You’re the water in my desert,
All I think about is you.
You’re the sun in all my sunsets,
You’re the wind in every breeze.
You’re the moon on my horizon,
You’re the one that makes me breathe.
It’s sorta like fate that we’re together,
It’s sorta like fate that we’re both here,
It’s sorta like you and me forever.
My destiny is near.
It’s sorta like you and me against everything,
It's sorta like fate . . .
It’s sorta like fate . . .
You’re the joy in all my madness,
You’re the fire in my flame.
You’re the smile from across the room,
You’re the thought I can’t erase.
You’re my happy ever after,
You’re the beating of my heart.
You’re the words that fill my pages,
You’re the light in all my dark.
It’s sorta like fate that we’re together,
It’s sorta like fate that we’re both here,
It’s sorta like you and me forever.
My destiny’s so clear.
It’s sorta like everything that I ever need,
It’s sorta like fate . . .
The spark to all my passion,
My future standing there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You’re everything I’ve ever wanted,
So, baby, don’t be scared.
It’s sorta like fate that we’re together,
It’s sorta like fate that we’re both here,
It’s sorta like you and me forever.
I’m your destiny, my dear.
It’s sorta like you and me against everything,
It’s sorta like fate . . .
It’s sorta like fate . . .
It’s sorta like fate . . .
It’s sorta like fate.
You pull on me like gravity,
I wanna get down on one knee.
The world can spin around us,
Cuz, baby, now it’s you and me.
The song ‘Rockstar’ came about after Damian spent time with Keatyn in France after she “became the biggest bitch of all” when trying to break away from Vanessa. It’s a song that I hope speaks to all people about doing your own thing, being your own person, and following your passion.
Rockstar
She’s the kind of girl,
Everybody wants be.
But no one sees what’s inside,
Or that she cries herself to sleep.
But I see, baby, yeah, I see.
She’s Miss Popular,
Floating with the crowd.
But it all feels so empty
That she wants to scream out loud.
But I see, baby, yeah, I see.
So forget about them,
Come surf the crowd with me.
It ain’t the water,
But, baby, it’s plain to see.
You gotta do your own thing.
Forge your own path.
Climb up to the top.
Any way you can.
You gotta do your own thing.
Do it up big.
Launch us to the moon.
Now, everybody sing.
Be yourself.
Do what you love.
And soon we can all
Be a rock star.
(Be a rock star.)
You gotta do your own thing.
Who cares what they think.
Rocket to the moon.
Come on, everybody sing.
Be yourself.
Do what you love.
And soon we can all
Be a rock star.
(Be a rock star.)
I grew up listening to the Beach Boys. Living in the Midwest meant I had yet to experience the ocean myself, but I loved watching movies and hearing songs about it. I wanted to marry a surfer someday and even wrote a musical set to their songs and
acted it when I was supposed to be cleaning our family room on Saturdays. This song I sat down, tried to write, and failed. But as usual, my brain was still working on it even when I wasn’t, and I woke up one morning with the song in my head. When Kyle and I worked on this song, he forced me to sing it. (I felt really bad for him.) Somehow, he was able to hear through my bad pitch and use that in combination with the lyrics and my inspiration to come up with the musical arrangement for ‘Meet Me at the Beach.’
My original lyrics are below.
Meet Me at the Beach
Sun shining on your face.
Ice cream at our favorite place.
Blonde hair blowing in the breeze.
Come on, baby, spend your summer days with me.
Toes running through the sand,
Bikini lines mark your tan.
Kissing in the ocean waves,
Crashing on the beach for days.
Venice, Hermosa, Malibu,
It’s you plus me and me plus you.
A melody in the breeze,
Baby, meet me at the beach.
Cotton candy, Ferris wheel,
Crazy in love is how I feel.
Blasting out our favorite tunes,
Late nights sneaking in your room.
Surfing in the early morn,
Always wanting you some more.
Drinking ‘round a bonfire,
Summer nights were gettin’ higher.
Venice, Hermosa, Malibu,
It’s you plus me and me plus you.
A melody in the breeze,
Baby, meet me at the beach.
You and me in the sand,
Moon above us, holding hands.
Don’t want this night to end,
Just wanna kiss you again.
And again...
Venice, Hermosa, Malibu,
It’s you plus me and me plus you.
A melody in the breeze,
Baby, meet me at the beach.
However, when Kyle was trying to get the melody right, he was struggling with the flow of the lyrics. So, after some collaboration, we had tweaked the song. Below are the final lyrics.
Meet Me at the Beach
Sun shining on your face.
Ice cream at our favorite place.
Blonde hair blowing in the breeze.
Baby, spend your summer days with me.
Laying in the sand,
Drinking, getting tan.
Kissing in these heat waves.
Got my Ray-Bans.
Laughing, holding hands.
Crashin’ on the beach for days.
I’m thinking ’bout . . .
Venice and Malibu
It’s only me and only you.
I love it; you’re all I really need.
Baby, meet me at the beach.
Cotton candy, Ferris wheel,
Crazy love is what I feel.
Blasting out our favorite tunes,
Late nights sneaking in your room.
Moonlight on the shore,
Always wanting more.
You light me up like a bonfire.
You make me hit the floor.
That’s what lips are for.
Summer nights, we’re getting higher.
I’m thinking ’bout . . .
Venice and Malibu
It’s only me and only you.
I love it; you’re all I really need.
Baby, meet me at the beach.
When it’s just us.
I feel the rush of every ocean wave.
And after a kiss,
I never imagined it as good as this.
I’m thinking ’bout . . .
Venice and Malibu
It’s only me and only you.
I love it; you’re all I really need.
Baby, meet me at the beach.
‘Broke Me Inside’ was another song for Damian to sing in the series. This one, however, is fully about his relationship with Peyton. For a couple I never pictured together, I adore their love story. How instant their attraction was for each other. How nothing else mattered. It must have been hard for Damian to balance his desire to keep both Keatyn and Peyton safe with his desire to be with her all the time.
Broke Me Inside
When the stars come out at night,
It’s like when you walked in my life.
Burning so bright,
You became my light.
Oh-ooooh-ooooh-oooh,
Burning so bright.
We’ll light up the sky,
Like a meteorite.
With our hearts full of fire,
We’re pulsing inside.
Sparked by the flames,
Of a burning desire.
Oh-ooooh-ooooh-oooh,
Burning so bright.
We’ll light up the sky,
Like a meteorite.
The day we said goodbye
Nearly broke me inside.
And the light won’t return
Until you’re in my arms, girl.
Oh-ooooh-ooooh-oooh,
Burning so bright.
We’ll light up the sky,
Like a meteorite.
Oh-ooooh-ooooh-oooh,
Oh-ooooh-ooooh-oooh.
Jillian Interviews Damian
If you weren’t Twisted Dreams lead singer, what would you be?
I hope to have my own label. I’m not sure what will happen with our band, but I see myself in the music industry in some way for a really long time.
We learned from Keatyn about one of your most embarrassing moments, when you tripped on the stage and fell flat on your face. Care to share that story?
I guess I probably deserve this question, since I’m always teasing Keats about her drunken night. Let’s see if I can set this up right. Hot girl crush in the audience wearing the shortest skirt I think I’d ever seen. I’m not usually nervous on stage, but she made me nervous. I downed a few shots. Went out there. Tried to impress. I was going to be all suave and sing to her. I sauntered toward the edge of the stage, my eyes locked to hers while I sang. Then I tripped over a speaker. Not only did I fall flat on my face, I also fell off the stage and landed on one of her shoes. I never bothered to try and get her number.
You and Keatyn have been friends for a long time. You’ve written songs about her. Any romantic notions there?
I’ve known Keatyn almost my whole life. We’ve always been friends. Because we’re close in age and because she was always bossing me around, I guess I probably treat her more like a sister. Do I think she’s beautiful? Yes. Have I thought about what it might be like with her? Yes. Did I think it would be good? No, which is why I have never pursued it. Keats and I are a lot alike. That makes for a great friendship, but I don’t think it would make for a good relationship.
What did you think of Brooklyn and Keatyn together?
I’ve known Brook for a couple years. I’ve known Keats my whole life. I should also point out that I was the one who started calling her Keats. At her dad’s funeral, someone must’ve read a poem by John Keats. I wasn’t very old, only eight, but I remember thinking I hated to see her cry. I wasn’t really listening to the service, but I heard the word Keats and for some reason it stuck in my brain and I started calling her that. When Brook started calling her Keats too, it kinda pissed me off. And when she told me about his “Keats for my Keats” I kinda wanted to punch him. She’s always been my Keats. My friend. I’ve never thought Brook was the right guy for her, but she crushed on him. I was happy for her when they got together, but I could tell it was already falling apart when they visited us on tour. He seemed on edge all the time. She was having a blast. Keatyn’s a pretty girl. Guys notice her, for sure. It’s going to take a guy with a lot of confidence to be with her long term. I never expected them to be much more than a fling. He’s not the right guy for her. Did you notice that it was me she clung to after she was nearly kidnapped and not him? That should have been a good indication that he wasn’t the one.
r /> Tell me something fun that happened on Twisted Dreams’ European tour.
Troy, our drummer, literally had his shirt ripped off by some crazy fans. It was nuts. We all call him Rip now, just to piss him off.
I don’t know if you’ll think this is funny or not. We all thought it was hilarious. So the whole band was pretty sick of Brook being around at this point. He was always complaining about something. I told him more than once to go back to the beach or shut the f*&% up. We knew if we got Keats up on stage it would really piss him off. He’s kinda weird in that respect. I mean, come on, if you’re gonna date a girl like her, you have to know that she soaks up the spotlight. That she loves being the center of attention. So for London show, we decided we’d get her up there. It was our biggest show and she looked crazy hot. It was awesome. The audience—well, the guys probably—loved it. She danced. Sang along with me. We finished by jumping off the stage to crowd surf. The look on his face when I put my hand out to pull her up on stage was priceless. He didn’t stay and watch. He walked out. It was awesome. I know they got into a big fight because of it, so I felt a little bad about that, but still. It was awesome. And he’s also going to freak out when I ask her to star in one of our band videos. If they are still together at that point.
