“You didn’t want to give your heart and soul. You didn’t want to become seriously involved. But from the beginning it wasn’t about any of that. Your concern was always for me. For my feelings, for my well-being, my happiness. For once in my life there was someone who was just concerned about me. That sounds so selfless and generous but then you showed that spoiled and dominant side.”
There were snickers around the table and even Adam gave her a small smile. She touched her palm to his cheek and leaned closer.
“You demanded my heart and my soul. And I gave it to you, not because I felt guilty or because I didn’t know any better, but because loving you was also easy.”
She kissed his cheek.
“I love you so much, Adam. And nothing in this world could stop me from becoming your wife.”
She kissed his lips.
Then as he was used to doing his hands found her hips and he lifted her out of the chair swinging her in the air as they kissed again.
Epilogue
“The house sold for eight and a half million dollars,” Max announced on Christmas Eve as they sat in Linc’s living room.
Camille clapped with glee. “That’s double what we thought it would go for.” She was sitting next to Adam who was smiling smugly.
“Good deal, Mr. Donovan,” Adam said to Max and extended his hand for a shake.
“Great deal, Mr. Donovan.” Max shook Adam’s hand and smiled.
Camille cleared her throat.
Adam hugged her close. “Excellent deal, soon-to-be Mrs. Donovan.”
She smiled. “Thank you.”
Across the room a cell phone rang. Trent looked down on his hip and pulled it free. “Well, well, well,” he said as he stood to leave the room. “I finally wore you down.”
Jade came over to sit in the chair across from Adam and Camille. “What was that all about?”
Linc took a seat beside his wife. “You know Trent, it’s probably one of his ladies.”
Camille’s lips spread into a huge smile. “It’s a lady all right, but I don’t know if Trent’s ready for this one.”
