Witness Protection: Moving Target Page 35

“I know you did, Angie. You tried to tell him and he realized too late. He didn’t want to see it because he was mad at me still because of Yulia. He wanted me to pay for that. I am sure that he told you that while you were alone in the office with him.”

“He did. He liked to remind me that he was going to kill you and then take me to the local FBI office. It wasn’t until Rudakov actually showed up that I got worried. I knew that you were coming for me. I just knew that you were. I never lost faith in you and your skills.”

“I am sorry that you had to see them first hand like that. I never wanted you to see that. You didn’t need to see that. It should have just been enough that you knew what I was capable of. I didn’t want to have to use those skills in a fashion that you would have to see it. I wanted to protect you from that. I wanted to…”

“You did what you had to do, Del. Don’t hate yourself for that. I don’t hate you.”

“I’m sorry,” Del told her again.

  “Stop.”

  “I can’t.”

“I’m telling you that I am okay, Del. I will be okay. Yeah, I was a little stunned by the carnage, but I’ll be okay. I can’t be upset with you because you had to do what you had to do while you were rescuing me. I will never be upset with you because of that.”

  “Angie…”

  “Just go to sleep, Del.”

  “But, Angie…”

“No, Del. Drop it. Go to sleep. I just want to rest.”

  “But, Angie…”

“No, Del, just no. Just hold me and forget about today. Just pretend that we are here and on vacation. Remember this is just a really exaggerated vacation. I don’t want to think about it anymore. I don’t want to give them any more power over my life. And, you don’t either.”

  “I know.”

  “Then, just go to sleep.”

  “I’ll try.”

“Don’t try, do,” Angie told her and yawned.

Del leaned into Angie and kissed the top of her head. Angie gave her a little moan in response. She kissed her head, again. This time, Angie turned her head up towards Del’s face and kissed Del. The moan that came following the kiss was quiet but load to both of them. They didn’t know who actually moaned, but in that moment, it didn’t matter. They were together again and they had both pledged not to be parted again.

Del broke the kiss and ran her hands down Angie’s back. She just needed to touch her. She needed to physically know that Angie was okay. She needed to her heart beat and know that she had done the right thing in killing all of Rudakov’s men and Rudakov himself. She needed to know that Angie wasn’t going to be scarred by the situation. She had to make sure that Angie was going to be unaffected by it all.

  “Stop thinking, Del.”

  “It’s hard.”

  “Just let it go.”

  “I can’t.”

“I’m really not in the mood to argue with you, right now, Del. Just go to sleep. If you want to talk about it again in the morning, we can then. Until then, get some sleep. You’re going to need it. We have been going non-stop for the last few days. We both need some sleep. We need to digest what happened, but we can’t do that right now. I am just too tired,” Angie stated.

  “I understand.”

  “Go to sleep.”

  “I’ll try.”

She felt Angie succumb to sleep. Her mind was still going strong. It wasn’t going to let her sleep anytime soon and she knew that. She would replay the entire situational nightmare over and over until she could be happy with the outcome. She was happy that Angie was safe and that they got her out safely, but she was still pissed at herself. She still couldn’t believe that she had somehow allowed Angie to be taken to begin with. She was angry for not knowing that Rudakov was involved and dealt with before Angie had been kidnapped. She wanted to know how she missed how dangerous he was.

Cole had even investigated everyone in the operation. She had started running it as an official operation while they were with him in Anita. She knew that Cole had been keeping tabs on them in his own way. How did they miss it? She kept asking herself that question and she wasn’t coming up with a good answer. She would have to talk to Cole and Sanchez about it later.

  “Del?”

  “Hmm?” she replied.

“Go to sleep. I’m not going to be able to sleep with you fidgeting so much. I promise you one thing, Del,” Angie told her sleepily.

  “Yeah, and what’s that?”

“I’ll still be in your arms in the morning.

  Chapter 35

Del woke up. She blinked several times before she realized that she was in a cabin with Angie. She sighed heavily. She felt Angie stir in her arms. She reflexively tightened her arms around her. She took a deep breath and smelled Angie’s unique scent. It relaxed her more. She tilted her head down and rested it against Angie’s, who was using her shoulder as a pillow. She smiled into the auburn hair. She couldn’t help herself. Angie was safe. She was alive. They were okay.

  “Mmm…stop thinking.”

“Sorry,” Del whispered to the groggy Angie.

  “What time is it?”

  “I have no idea.”

  “Good.”

  “Really?”

“Yeah, that means that we can stay in bed then,” Angie mused.

Del giggled silently and was amazed at the woman in her arms. Angie stirred a little more and tilted her head up to look into Del’s mocha eyes. They held each other and each other’s gaze. It was a silent moment between them, but so much was said that wasn’t said the night before. Del could see the emotions swirling in Angie’s cerulean orbs.

Angie watched Del’s dart around her face for a minute before she had to stop the movement. She reached up a pale hand and cupped Del’s cheek. Del immediately looked down and into her eyes. She leaned into her hand and sighed.

“Do you believe me when I tell you that I am alright, now, Del?” Angie asked her.

  “Yes,” she stated quietly.

“Do you believe me when I tell you thank you?”

  “Yes.”

“Then, will you stop over analyzing everything that happened over the last few days?”

“Yes,” Del answered her almost dejectedly.

“Del, I am not asking you to forget about it. I am asking you to let it go. I am okay. You are okay. We are okay. Cole and Sanchez are okay. Everyone is okay. Yeah, the situation wasn’t ideal and it isn’t something that we both wanted, but we got through it like everything else that we have been through since we left New York,” Angie told her.

  “I know that.”

  “Then, please let it go.”

  “I’m trying.”

  “Good,” Angie replied.

Del pulled her closer again. She held her head against her chest. Angie could feel the soft thump of Del’s wildly beating heart. She didn’t know what else to say to her. She knew that Del almost broke and she was trying to help her, but it was almost as if Del didn’t want to be repaired this time. It was like she needed the pain to survive. It must have been her coping mechanism.

  “Del?”

  “Yeah?”

Angie didn’t know what to say. She didn’t know what to do. She wanted to tell Del that she had actually fallen for her completely, but she didn’t want to scare her away. They had been through too much together and she was afraid that in Del’s fragile state Del would shut down.

She finally couldn’t take the haunted look in Del’s anymore. She wanted to do something about it. She needed to make Del realize…something, everything, anything. She needed Del to realize that it was okay to feel and that she could feel with her without harm. Del’s eyes betrayed her every time with Angie and she was afraid that Del knew it, too.

Angie leaned up to Del and kissed her. She didn’t push. It was simple and chaste, but it was enough for her to feel Del completely relax into her. She was going to be as patient as she could with Del, but she was willing to push when necessary.

  Del
pulled back from the kiss and looked into her eyes. She didn’t know what she was looking for, but then again, she found the answers to questions she didn’t know to ask. Angie just let her stare. She knew that Del needed to do this at her own pace. Del knew that Angie was waiting for her, but she didn’t know what she was really waiting for. She didn’t know how to ask her.

Angie could see the questions in her eyes. She could feel them in her arms. She knew that Del was going to tense back up if she didn’t do something drastic. She needed Del to know how she felt. She needed Del just to relax and feel.

Angie reached up and cupped Del’s face with both hands. She pushed her body back just a little. She could feel Del’s fingers digging into her back, not wanting to let her go, but willingly let her move. She knew that Del was frightened of how close they had become. She was frightened of losing Angie, now and the past few days made that a real possibility. Even if Del’s head hadn’t caught up with her body, Angie could tell what she needed, how she felt and what she couldn’t say. For Angie, Del was an open book. She might not know the whole story, but she wanted to help write the ending, and she wanted it to be a happy ending.

“Del…” she started to say as she leaned forward and kissed her harder.

This time she didn’t wait. She wasn’t going to let her be frightened by her feelings. She was going to make Del acknowledge them. She was going to make Del feel.

She leaned her weight into the kiss and she felt Del roll slightly back onto her back. It was a sign of trust that Angie wasn’t taking lightly. She knew what it meant for Del to do that. She didn’t immediately move on top of her. She knew that Del would need to adjust to the situation at hand, but she wasn’t going to break the kiss until she had to.

The covers didn’t stand a chance in their movements and the duvet hit the floor. They didn’t even notice. The sheets had been bunched up around them as they slept, but had fallen with the duvet. They weren’t cold and they didn’t care. Angie only wanted her to feel and that is all that Del was

Del felt Angie’s weight settle in next to her. She knew when Angie’s hand moved from her cheek to her ribs. The gentleness in her hands and the softness of her lips were enough to break Del completely. She knew that she was breaking willingly. She slowly moved her arms around Angie’s back, needing the connection to help her stay grounded. As she rested her forearm in the small of Angie’s back, she drew up her other arm and buried her hand into Angie’s auburn locks.

When Angie felt her hand on the back of her own head, she moaned into the kiss and deepened it. She applied slight pressure and felt Del’s mouth part slightly. She used that moment to capture her bottom lip with her mouth and softly bit down. She heard the startled gasp come from Del and she grinned into their kiss. She flicked her eyes back into Del’s and was mesmerized by the depth there. She knew that she could lose herself there, if she let herself do it, but she wasn’t going to let it happen. She wanted Del to lose herself.

She pushed her tongue into Del’s mouth and waited. When she was greeted with Del’s tongue, she deepened the kiss again. They didn’t fight for dominance or control. They were relishing in the moment. Angie caressed her mouth and tongue with her own. As she continued the kiss and she felt Del relax more and more, she ran her hand down Del’s side to the hem of the t-shirt.

When Del felt her hand suddenly brush against bare skin, she moaned. It was soft and it was quiet, but it was there. She felt Angie’s fingers dance across her upper hip and her heart jumped.

Angie felt the warmth of her skin beneath her fingers and she thought that it would be enough. She really did, but now, she knew that it wasn’t. She needed more of her. She needed to sear herself onto Del and into Del’s brain. She splayed her hand across Del’s stomach and she felt Del’s fingers dig into her back again. She pushed herself up a little on her other arm and broke the kiss. She looked down at Del, waiting to see if she was going to stop her, but she couldn’t tell what Del was thinking anymore. Her normally mocha eyes were dark and intense. She smiled up at Angie, hoping that Angie wouldn’t see any fear in her eyes.

She ran her fingers over the taut skin waiting for the refusal, but she never got it. She tore her eyes from Del’s and feasted on the bit of flesh that she could see from her hands movements. She was glad that she was getting an unobstructed view of the lithe and toned body beneath her hand. She teased the skin beneath her pale fingers. Her eyes traced every scar that marred Del’s beautiful naturally tan skin. She made sure not to dwell on any one particularly too long. She didn’t want Del thinking. No, she wanted her to only feel. That was all that important.

Del leaned up a little bit and touched Angie’s face, turning it back up towards hers. Angie met her gaze with little wonder. Del’s need was burning bright in her eyes and it was consuming. Angie’s hand grazed down her torso to the hem of the t-shirt again and this time buried her fingers in it. Del sat up enough realizing that she wanted the shirt off and she helped Angie remove it.

Angie stayed kneeling on the bed. Del sat back a little but was still far enough away from the headboard that there was no support behind her. Angie crawled across to her and sat on her lap, a knee on each side of her hips. She could see the want in Del’s eyes and that was all that mattered. Today was about Del learning to let go and enjoying it. And, damn it, Angie wasn’t going to let anything stop her, not even Del this time.

Angie held her close, pulling her into her body. Del’s head met her neck in this position, but she didn’t care. She reached down and tilted Del’s chin back. She kissed her hard and tried to make her intentions known. She wasn’t going to let Del go until she came. Del seemed to understand and willingly let her do whatever she wanted until the need to feel Angie’s skin under her own hands became too great. They kissed and bit, soothed and nipped, for what seemed like hours before a small shred of Del broke and she tore the t-shirt from Angie’s body. Now that they were on equal ground, she didn’t seem so tense.

Angie leaned into her, causing Del to fall back on the bed. She was leaning over her in a dominant but not threatening fashion. She thought that Del would flip them and reverse their roles, but she didn’t. Angie realized then, that Del knew how bad she needed this, how bad she just needed to let and let someone show her how to feel. She needed to learn how to receive without taking as the passion filled her body.

Angie had little trouble keeping her on the bed. With each kiss, Del would moan. With each touch, Del would buck and Angie would gently push down on the hip that her hand found. They were grounding each other in touch. Their eyes burned with want. Their bodies glowed with need. Their moans slowly began to fill the room, getting louder and louder with each touch, each kiss, each new sensation between them.

Angie tilted her head to the side and found her ear lobe. She bit down gently, but Del moaned louder than before. Angie decided to store that information for next time. As she sat back again, still around Del’s hips, she raked her eyes down her body and prayed to whatever deity would listen that there would be many next times with her. She continued to kiss down her neck and to her chest. She leaned back just enough to make sure that she hadn’t grazed a bruise too hard.

Del’s hand shot out from nowhere and grabbed Angie’s hands. She pulled them up her body and settled them on her breasts. Angie looked up from Del’s collar bone and into her completely blown eyes. She wasn’t looking for permission. She was making sure that Del was still with her. When she found what she wanted, she squeezed. Del’s mouth fell open in a quiet moan. Her hands still on Angie’s, she gripped them tight against her body. After Angie understood what she wanted and she started to massage Del’s bosom, she removed her hands to rake her short nails down Angie’s back.

Angie threw her head back with a moan and a whimper. Not to be out done by Del, Angie leaned forward again and captured a nipple in her mouth. She sucked and nipped the hardening bud as she felt Del’s body moving beneath her. She couldn’t help herself. She didn’t want to stop
, but she turned and saw the other breast. She changed breasts and lavished upon the other one. Del’s body went taught. She eased up thinking that she was hurting her because of the bruising.

  “Angie…”

  “Delia…”

  “Please…”

  “Please what…”

“You aren’t going to hurt me,” Del told her.

When she looked again into Del’s completely black eyes, she realized that she wasn’t going taught from pain but passion. She liked the way that Del was looking at her. She wanted more.

She moved up and kissed her again. As they kissed and stared into each other’s eyes, Angie ran her hand down her side. She felt Del’s ribs beneath her hands. She could feel the muscles flexing in anticipation for what was to come. She didn’t look down her body. She felt down it until she met the waist band of Del’s underwear. Her fingers teased under it for second or two. Del’s body arched off the bed. Angie smirked and continued to tease her just under the waistband. She pulled her hand out and ran it over the top of the cotton briefs. She could feel the damp heat building with each caress of her hand. She felt Del’s hips roll reflexively and she smiled into the kiss. A breathless moan escaped her mouth. Del’s hands roamed down Angie’s back, pulling her back into her body.

Angie fell back into Del. She kissed her and moved her way across her chin and down to her neck. She pushed herself up just enough to get her weight off of Del for just a second. She moved from between Del’s legs and saddled up on her side, draping on leg over Del’s. Del never let her go and Angie was thankful for that. It helped keep her grounded and in the moment. She continued her descent from Del’s neck to her chest. She worshiped her breasts with her mouth as she ran her hands up and down Del’s toned, tanned body.

Del moaned at the contact. She wanted to direct Angie and put her hand back on her mound, but she didn’t. She did reach down and interlace her fingers in Angie’s hand, bringing it back to her bosom. She felt Angie latch on to a breast and she let out a loud moan. Angie smiled around the other nipple and squeezed the breast with her hand. She knew that Del was ready, but she wasn’t done exploring and playing.
