Thank you, dear Fleming family, for lending me your beautiful, magical car. I hope I wasn’t rough with her, and I’m sure she will live to fly another day. Because Professor Tuk-Tuk is right — everything and everyone can be repaired. It’s only when you drive off the edge of the cliff that you discover you can fly.
My friend and collaborator Joe Berger is a wonderful copilot. Whenever I was stuck for an idea I would think, What would Joe like to draw? His pictures look so good that I bet when the government sees them they will immediately decide that Big Ben should be moved to the North Pole.
My family is always my inspiration and my help. My wife, Denise, is — like Little Harry — always right, always ahead of the game. But I would like to thank Heloise and Xavier especially this time. They have been the very best passengers a driver could have. They stayed awake and interested through all three journeys. They spotted all the best parking places, all the danger signs, and all the passing wonders. During some particularly difficult days they took over picnic duties. Thank you, thank you.
