My heart was beating like crazy, and my hands were all sweaty. I could feel the tears trickling down my cheeks. I wanted this nightmare to be over. I wanted to be able to walk outside, and not look over my shoulder every minute. I lived in fear at the moment, not knowing if “D” knew where I was. And if he did know, when would he come get me?

I shook my head and tried to think of my date tonight. Slowly, my breath started to get normal, and I kept thinking of Zane and his beautiful smiles. I fell asleep thinking of him, and this time I dreamt about Zane.

I woke up to the sound of my phone beeping.

Kylie: Want to go get dinner with Marco and me tonight? After the band has done the live stream.

I looked at the clock on the nightstand; it was almost six. I couldn’t believe I slept all afternoon. I sat up and answered Kylie.

Me: No thanks, you guys go out alone. I just want to relax in my room tonight if that’s okay.

  Kylie: Are you sure?

Me: Yes, I’ve been going out with you guys almost every evening. You need some alone time.

Kylie: See you tomorrow, then. You want to go down to the gym together?

Me: Yes, I’d like that. See you, have a nice evening.

Luckily, she didn’t push me. I got out of the bed and walked into the bathroom to take a shower and got ready for my date with Zane. As I’d done all the other times they had been live streaming, I followed it on Facebook. It was funny to see them like that, and they tried to answer as many different questions as possible.

When the live stream stopped, I felt nervous. I knew it was a matter of time before Zane texted me. Fortunately, Zane’s room was right next to mine. How he convinced Kylie of that, I didn’t know. But I was happy that I didn’t have to walk down the other end of the hall. Mostly because I didn’t want to be seen walking into his room. I just wanted us to do this alone without the others being all over us. Then the text came.

Zane: I’m in my room, come whenever you’re ready.

  Me: See you soon.

With that, I got my purse, not that I needed it. But for some reason, I didn’t go out without it.

I walked out of my room, and the moment I closed my door, the door to Zane’s room opened. He came out and smiled at me. I walked over to him, and he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before we went into his room.

When we were inside his room, he turned around and pulled me into him.

“Hi, beautiful,” he said before he bent down to kiss me. The moment our lips touched, I had the same feeling of safety I did the last time. The kiss was so much more than a kiss. The longing I felt towards him was almost too much. He deepened the kiss, and pulled his arms tighter around my waist. I moved my arms around his neck, and my hand was playing with his hair. I wanted him more than I wanted my next breath. I had to remind myself more than once that sex was not what I wanted on our first date. Stupid rule, but I wanted to know that he wanted me for more than just sex. Even though I already knew this.

After all, he had followed my request to be friends first. I wondered if these last three weeks were as excruciating for him as they were for me. Needing to catch my breath and to stop this lust building in my body, I broke the kiss and looked up at him.

“Hi.” It was all I could say. Zane let go of me and took my hand, and we walked over to the couch. He motioned for me to sit down, so I did. A moment later, he sat down beside me. He was so close that I could feel the heat from his body. This no-sex rule was going to be a pain tonight.

“What do you want to eat? We can order room service, or I can get one of the security guys to get us some sushi if you like?”

“Sushi would be great if it’s not too big a deal for them to get it?” I moved so I could look at him.

“That’s what they are here for.”

“I thought they were here to keep all your groupies and the press from you.” I grinned at him.

“That they are. But we pay them good money, so they will do this too.” He winked at me before getting up from the couch. He walked into the bedroom—to get his phone, I assumed. In the meantime, I took a look around his room. It was bigger than mine, for sure.

It was like a small apartment. The living room had a big couch area, a huge LED television, a small desk in the right corner, and a small dining room table with four chairs around. Then there was the bedroom, where I could see Zane talking on the phone. I assumed there was a bathroom in the bedroom. All I wanted right now was to walk into the bedroom, and just let all my emotions run free. But I didn’t, I just sat here waiting for him to finish talking to whoever he was talking to.

  Chapter 12:

  Zane

Having her in my room was all I had dreamt about for the last three weeks. But now she was here, and I was feeling nervous? Couldn’t be. I was never nervous around women. Or people in general. But for some reason, Anna had gotten under my skin. This kiss was even better than our first kiss. I didn’t think it was possible. But the emotions there were running through my body while kissing her were something I had never experienced before. I wanted her, yes. But more than that, I just wanted her to be near me. For the first time, sex wasn’t my priority. Back to what I was doing. I called Dax.

“Zane, everything okay?” Dax sounded worried. Maybe because I normally just texted him.

“Everything is fine. I just wanted to see if one of your guys would run down to get some sushi for me and my date?”

“Excuse me, date?” Of course that was all he heard.

  “Yes, date.”

“Sure, I will send Ryder right away. Who is your date?”

“Thanks. That’s not any of your business,” I said, hoping he would let the topic go.

“It’s Anna, isn’t it?” How the hell did he know that?

“Yes, but don’t tell anyone. We don’t want the others interfering right now, got it?”

“Sure. But Zane, be careful with her.”

“I will. Thanks, Dax.” I hung up the phone and walked into the living room again. I took a moment to admire her. She was dressed in a white sundress. Her blonde hair was loose down her back. As if she could feel me staring at her, she looked over her shoulder and smiled.

“The food will be here soon,” I said when I walked over to sit down next to her again. “By the way, Dax knows you’re my date.” Before she could say anything, I put a finger on her lips. “He won’t tell anyone. And I didn’t tell him, he guessed.” Her eyes softened again.

“Of course he did. I don’t think I’ve met anyone who can read people as well as he can.” She smiled at me.

For a moment there, I was worried that I’d blown this before we even started. Leaning back on the couch, I moved my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to me. She moved closer and rested her head against my chest. This was heaven. I could feel my cock harden, and I was sure that by the end of this evening I would have a painful hard-on. But right now, I didn’t care; I just wanted to be here with her.

“Did you pick a movie?” She looked up at me. I could get lost in her eyes. They expressed so many feeling and emotions. It was like looking into her soul.

“No, I thought we could pick one together.” I kissed her forehead.

“Okay, anything but a horror movie.”

“I will keep you safe, you know.” I grinned at her.

“I know, but I don’t want any more horror in my life right now.” She closed her eyes, and I could feel her body tense. I let that go for now, as I didn’t want to spoil this evening. But I for sure would find out what the hell had her so scared.

“Fine, how about you pick the first one, then if you’re up for it I will pick the next?” I smiled down at her, locking my eyes with hers. I actually found myself smiling a lot when I was around her.

“Promise no horror movie?” I could see the plea in her eyes.

  “Promise
.” I leaned down and kissed her. Just a small kiss on the lips. I had this need to feel her all the time.

She got up from the couch and got the remote for the television. Scrolling through the long list of movies, she looked up at me. “How about this one?” Looking up at the screen, I saw her choice. Never would have I guessed that she would want to see an action movie. I, for one, was sure that when I let her pick, she would have chosen a chick flick. As if she could read my mind, she grinned at me.

“You thought I would pick some girly movie, didn’t you?”

“I did, but I’m happy that you surprised me.” She smiled and settled against my chest. A few minutes later, I heard a knock on the door.

“Food’s here.” I got up and walked over to open the door. Ryder stood outside with a big bag.

“Food delivery,” he said while handing me the bag.

“Thanks, man. Have a good night.” He nodded and walked away. I closed the door and got back to Anna. Remembering that we might need something to drink, I called room service and ordered a bottle of wine for her and beer for me. Five minutes later, we settled on the couch, eating sushi and watching the movie.

Halfway through the movie, Anna curled even closer to me, resting her arm on my chest. I held her close, and rested my head against hers. If this was what it was like to be in a relationship, I was all for it. I couldn’t remember the last time I was this relaxed. Holding her like this was fantastic.

I didn’t pay much attention to the movie, but got lost in the emotions running through my body. I never wanted this moment to end.

When the movie finished, Anna was sleeping against me. I kissed her forehead.

“Wake up, baby,” I whispered in her ear. She slowly opened her eyes. For a moment, she looked confused before she realized where she was.

“God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” She had a look of mild shock on her face, and her cheeks were beginning to blush. I closed the distance between our mouths and I kissed her, begging her lips to part so I could touch her tongue. When she did, it was like our tongues battled.

Moving her so she was straddling me, I kissed her even more intensely. A small moan escaped from her throat. She rubbed her pussy against my cock, which made me moan. I needed her, needed to feel her skin against mine.

I moved my hands down her body, to the hem of her dress and then up her legs under the dress until I cupped her bare ass in my hands. Thank God for thongs. Then she broke the kiss. She looked all dreamy.

“I better go to my room. I told you no sex on our first date.” She smiled at me.

“Don’t go. I’ll behave, promise.” Moving my hands out from her dress and around her waist, I said, “Spend the night with me. I want to hold you while we sleep.” I gave her a quick kiss. I could see she was considering my suggestion.

“Okay,” was all she said. I held her close to me and stood up to walk into the bedroom. When I stood, she wrapped her legs around my waist.

“I can walk, you know?” She grinned.

“Oh yeah?” I kissed her before I sat her down on the bed. Walking over to the closet, I found a T-shirt for her to sleep in, thinking that she didn’t want to sleep in her underwear. She caught the shirt and walked into the bathroom, closing the door. I sat down on the bed, realizing that sleeping next to her might not be the best idea, given that all I wanted was for her to get naked and under me right now. But I wanted to hold her as I told her. Feeling her close was the best feeling in the world. Five minutes later, she walked out from the bathroom, wearing my shirt.

“You look hot, baby.” I moved over to her and kissed her before I walked into the bathroom. I just needed a moment to get myself situated. Thinking that it might be best, I only took off my jeans, keeping my T-shirt on.

When I got back into the bedroom, Anna was lying in bed under the covers, waiting for me.

“I could get used to this.” I got into the bed beside her, pulling her close so I could kiss her.

“Me too. I had a great night.” She kissed me. Just a soft kiss on the lips. And with that, she curled into my chest like she did when we were watching the movie.

“Me too, baby. Good night.” I kissed the top of her head.

  Chapter 13:

  Anna

I was hot. I opened my eyes, trying to find out why, and then I remembered. I was not sleeping alone. My body was curled into Zane’s. Our legs were wrapped together. I smiled, thinking back on last night. I could feel Zane moving, so I looked up to find him staring at me with sleepy eyes.

“Morning, baby, slept well?” He kissed me on the forehead.

“Morning. I have, you?” I moved up in the bed so we were face-to-face, not breaking eye contact with him.

“I don’t think I’ve ever slept better.” He smiled before leaning forward to catch my lips with his.

“Morning breath, Zane. I need to brush my teeth first,” I said, trying to escape his lips and get out of bed. But before I knew it, I was on my back, with Zane over me.

“Don’t care, baby. I want a kiss now.” He leaned down and kissed me, and I forgot all about morning breath. I just gave in to him and got lost in the kiss. Remembering I had to get back to my room before Kylie came to get me for our workout in the gym, I broke the kiss.

“What time is it? I have to go to the gym with Kylie this morning.” Zane looked over at the clock on the nightstand.

  “It’s only seven thirty.”

“Shit, I have to meet her in fifteen minutes. If I don’t, she’ll come looking for me.” I kissed him one more time before he let go of me. I got out of bed, and went to the bathroom. Changing back into the dress I wore last night, I was ready to get back to my room. When I got into the bedroom, Zane was lying on the bed, with his arms resting on his head and eyes closed. Sometime during the night, he lost his shirt. I took a moment to admire his chest. It was covered in tattoos. I would like to inspect them closer, but I didn’t have time. I walked over to the bed and bent down to kiss him.

“See you later.” I kissed him one more time. I had to get out of here before I jumped back into bed with him. Why did I have to go work out with Kylie this morning? Maybe I should just cancel. But knowing Kylie, she’d just come to my room to see if I was okay if I canceled on her.

“Stay, I don’t want you to go.” Zane pulled me back on top of him. I rested my head on his chest.

“I don’t want to go either, but I have to. Kylie is expecting me, and you have a concert to get ready for.” I kissed him and got out of bed.

“Fine, but tonight you’re back here with me, deal?” He smiled at me. How could I not be back here with him? It was the only place I wanted to be.

“Deal.” I walked out of his room and into mine. I hurried to change my clothes, knowing that Kylie would be knocking on my door anytime. And with that, I heard a knock on the door. I took my keycard and phone and walked over to open the door.

“Morning. You look happy today.” Kylie looked suspiciously at me.

“Morning.” Ignoring the last part, I walked out of my room. We headed down to the gym, and two hours later I was ready for the day to be over so I could be back in bed with Zane. As if he knew I was thinking of him, I got a text from him.

  Zane: Miss you.

  Me: Miss you too.

Zane: You are going with us to the stadium this morning?

Me: I am. I promised Kylie I would help her today.

  Zane: See you soon, then.

I was in heaven. I knew better than to fall in love with him. But when he was sweet, it was hard not to. I just hoped that he didn’t break my heart. I knew this whole thing was moving way too fast, but for some reason, I didn’t mind. I just wanted to spend all my time with Zane, knowing that at some point he would get bored and move on, leaving me with a broken heart. But what if he didn’t? What if he felt the same that I did? Could it work
? Could I be in a relationship with a rock star? At this moment, no. I still didn’t know if “D” would ever get tired of me and realize that I didn’t want anything to do with him.

Just the thought of him coming after me made my chest hurt. My breathing got shallower. It was like I couldn’t get enough air into my lungs. I was afraid that I would have a heart attack. My legs collapsed under me. Shit, what do I do? I need help now!

Crawling over to the coffee table, I got my phone and managed to call someone. I didn’t know who. I could hear someone talking on my phone, but at this point, I couldn’t talk. I felt like my whole body was shutting down, and the only thing I could do about it was stand by and watch.

I didn’t know how much time passed. I heard someone knocking hard on my door, but I didn’t have the strength to get over to it. I just ignored it. Closing my eyes, I lay down on the floor. Then everything went black.

“Baby, wake up… Anna, please wake up…” I could hear Zane, but it sounded like he was far away. Someone shook me. Trying to open my eyes, I looked directly into Zane’s brown eyes. I looked around, not sure what just happened.

“What happened?” I whispered, still confused. Zane pulled me up on his lap, and I rested my head against his chest, closing my eyes. How long we sat there on the floor, I didn’t know. It was not until I heard movement behind us that I opened my eyes again.

“Anna, what happened? You called me, but didn’t say anything.” I looked up at Zane; he looked worried. I could feel his whole body shaking, just like mine. That was when Dax stepped around us, and looked directly at me.

“Anna, tell us what scares you so much. I need to know so I can protect you.” I could see the pleading in Dax’s eyes. I knew this was the time to tell them, but I couldn’t. When I tried to talk about it, it was like my voice didn’t work.

“I can’t, not today. I will soon, okay?” Closing my eyes again, I leaned closer to Zane’s chest. His kissed me on the top of my head.
