Callie groans. “God, I hope not. I will distract him later, but if they planned this he’s gonna be pissed.”
“My brother needs to calm down. Robin is old enough to make her own decisions. I mean I was married before I turned twenty-one.” Mara stares at Leo. “And if they have worked this out between the two of them, then they have to care about one another, right? Robin isn’t one to make spur of the moment decisions.”
I silently agree with Mara while I listen to our men as they sing song after song. My eyes continue to sneak glances at Jack and I always find his eyes on me. He sings for me, I know this, but it’s nice seeing the heated look on his face.
Way back when he sang as Phoenix, he would look at me the same way. Sometimes, I miss him using his old stage name, but once we married he wanted to leave the name behind. He no longer needed to hide behind it.
Two hours later the guys jump down from the stage and join us around the tables that we’ve pulled together to make one large one.
Jack is sweaty, and looks so damn hot that I struggle to keep my hands off him. It doesn’t last for long though as I slip my palm to his thigh. When I get into hard territory he clasps his own hand over mine to keep me still. His head drops to my shoulder as he whispers, “You still horny, babe?”
“Mmm,” I moan as he nibbles down my neck.
My eyes close as I enjoy my husband’s touch on my aroused body.
“We’re leaving,” Jack announces, and tugs me from the chair.
Our family and friends laugh.
“Seriously? You’re really going to drag her out of here?” Reece questions, but I catch the amusement he can’t hide.
“Damn straight.” Jack grabs my jacket and helps me into it, wrapping an arm around my neck. “We’ll see you tomorrow night.”
“Jack,” I protest as he leads me from Kix into the cold afternoon. “I didn’t have a chance to say goodbye.”
“Honey, you and our kids are my heart, but right now, I need you alone.” He turns my head and slams his lips down on mine, his tongue pushing for access.
I moan into his mouth and wrap my tongue around his. His mouth is hot, hard, and insistent as my hands hold him to me. I don’t want him to stop, but…whistling and howling can suddenly be heard from behind us.
Our mouths separate as we turn and laugh at Reece and Donovan being idiots on the steps.
“Don’t you have a house to do that in?” Reece shouts.
“Too many people inside right now,” Jack replies as he backs me up to the truck. “I know just the place.” He holds my gaze. “You game?”
“Oh, I’m game.” I sure as hell don’t need asking twice. My husband is just as horny as I am, and the outline of his thick shaft is felt against my stomach before he hoists me into his truck.
“Just behave until we get there.” He lets his eyes trail over me, which sends shivers down my spine. He’s so damn delicious.
He growls and slams the door, his hands against the window while he glares at me.
I smile, knowing he’s too swollen to be able to walk without a great deal of discomfort. He blows me a kiss before doing a funny kind of walk, and pulls himself into the truck.
Not wasting a minute in getting the truck warmed up, Jack pulls out of Kix and heads down the country lane to our house. I know that isn’t our destination but I’m confused as to where he’s actually taking us.
I glance at him, which becomes a glare when he continues to ignore me. My eyes travel down his unzipped jacket and settle on the bulge behind his zipper. He looks damn uncomfortable, and I know how to ease the ache.
Reaching out, I make quick work of his zipper and button while he gasps and sucks in a sharp breath of relief mixed with pleasure as his cock escapes the restriction.
“Thalia,” he hisses when my thumb tugs on his piercing, “I want you badly.” He inhales and slowly exhales. “You keep doing that…”
I bend and flick the piercing with my tongue before I suck the flared head into my wet mouth.
“Fuck,” he growls and arches his hips.
The slamming of the breaks is the only warning I get that he’s reached breaking point. The minute the engine cuts out, our belts are unclipped and Jack is pushing his tongue back into my mouth while his hands make quick work of my jeans.
I have one leg out of my panties and jeans before he lifts me over him, and slides into me. My hands cup his face while he lets me adjust to his girth.
“Fuck,” Jack curses and lets his head drop to the back of his seat. “You feel so damn good.” He grips my hips and holds me down. “I’m afraid to move.”
“I’m soaked, Jack. You won’t hurt me.”
“I can feel you,” he groans. “I can feel every bit of your warm, wet pussy wrapped around my dick…Fucking heaven…”
“Mmm,” I moan and grind on him.
Jack curses and slides me back and forth on him with trembling hands.
“Show me your tits,” he whispers.
If I didn’t know that Jack was serious I would have laughed at his request. Instead, I lift my top and unclip my bra.
His eyes dilate when he sees my breasts swing free, and then his mouth sucks at one before switching to the other. The first tingles of climax suddenly hit me in the stomach as my muscles clench. One more thrust from Jack, and I’m coming. Jack wraps his arms around my waist and ravages my mouth as I convulse and ripple around his hardening length. Seconds later, I feel his hot release as he empties himself inside of me.
I loosen my hold on him slightly because I love watching him orgasm, which he knows. Nothing is as hot as watching Jack come. His whole body experiences the release, and the tension from his handsome face seeps away to leave a very relaxed Jack with a satisfied smirk on his lips.
“I think you killed me,” he says, his voice dark and husky.
“Always so dramatic,” I drawl into his ear as I snuggle into him. “I love you, Jack.”
He caresses along my spine. “I always feel that me saying, I love you too, isn’t as powerful as hearing it from your lips.”
I move back and meet his gaze. Jack reaches up and caresses my face. “You are my heart. You are my everything. You and our girls. I love you, Thalia.”
Tears hover on my lashes at the emotion behind his words. I lean forward and place a soft kiss to his lips. “For always, baby.”
“Damn straight.”
I smile and realize that I’m not a pretty sight. My lips are swollen from Jack’s kisses, my boobs poke out at him from between my bra and shirt, and my jeans and panties hang loose around one leg. I start to laugh as I look at myself.
“You’re always more presentable than me,” I grumble, but with humor.
“I keep telling you to wear a dress or a skirt for easy access.”
“And what about when you say, ‘Show me your tits’. You do realize that it wouldn’t surprise me if Winter’s first words are the same.”
He rolls his eyes. “Seriously, honey? Her first word is going to be daddy.” He smirks.
“Whatever.”
He chuckles and helps me climb back into my seat. He also dresses me so that he can arouse me all over again with his slow caresses, until I smack his hands away. “None of that. We’ve pushed our luck out here so far.” I glance out the window but can’t see anything because they are steamed up. “Where are we anyway?”
Jack ignores me and turns the truck back on. The heaters start to clear the windows when my eyes widen. “Oh, my God, Jack! We’re on the side of the road.”
“It’s hardly ever used. I’d never risk anyone seeing you naked.” He leans over and kisses my cheek before pulling me into his arms. “We’re going to have an early night with the kids tonight. It’s cold so we need to snuggle down.”
“Is that right?”
“Of course, babe.” Jack gives my hand one last squeeze. “We’ll have to behave while my parents are there, but after a couple of hours of having Leigh chatting away, they’ll be glad to leav
e as soon as we get there.”
“You hope,” I add.
“We’ll see.” He pulls back onto the road, and asks, “So, what do you think about Robin working at Kix now that you’ve seen Leo?”
I chuckle. “Reece is going to drive Callie nuts because I have a feeling that Robin and Leo will be getting it on before too long…and there’s that storage room in the back.”
“Fond memories,” Jack says but not before he wiggles around in his seat.
“I can’t wait to see someone else fall in love at Kix.”
“I hope Robin is prepared for her brother.”
Robin
I hid out in the storage room in the back of Kix as soon as I discovered Leo working behind the bar. It had been a shock and I still can’t believe that he’s here. What’s wrong with the man?
Leo has tried to sweet talk me into dating him for the past four months. He’s even gone so far as to offer me a night of hot sex to help me make up my mind. It’s not that I’m not interested, it’s that I promised myself that I wouldn’t date until I finished school. I’ve worked hard to get were I am, and for the scholarship, so I don’t want to blow it by getting distracted. But he distracts me and has done so from the moment I spotted the dark haired, bearded guy across campus. He’s tall and when he speaks to me I have to look up, and then I’d get distracted by his vivid blue eyes, not to mention his full, red lips. I’ve spent many a night imagining his mouth doing wicked things to my body. So why do I continue to reject him?
At first he seemed to accept my answer with a smile and amusement, but toward the last time I saw him, the light had started to dim and that bothered me, and constantly played on my mind.
I told myself that the next time I saw him I would give the guy a break and say yes, but then he hasn’t been around. I looked and asked around but no one had known where he’d disappeared to…and now here he is…working in the roadhouse that my half-sister’s husband owns.
Coincidence? I don’t think so.
I’ve never been bothered by a man before, and he really is a man in every sense of the word. His beard makes him look older than his twenty-three years, but I know his age and more. There is no boy buried beneath his exterior and that gives me a funny kind of feeling in my belly.
My hand unconsciously presses against my chest to calm my nerves at just the thought of being near him again. I haven’t been in the storage room for long, and I certainly can’t hide in here all night. I’ve never hidden from anyone in my life, so why have I started now?
I know why. Because Leo Williams makes my toes curl with desire and for once in my life I want to throw all caution to the wind and really feel what it’s like to have his arms around me, his mouth claiming mine.
Leaning against the wall, I let my head drop back as I close my eyes, praying for calm.
Calm isn’t something that Reece will feel when he discovers that I know Leo and the attraction that is there between us. He’ll go insane. Although he’s a lot calmer than he used to be, thanks to his wife, Callie, he can still be a pain in the ass. I sigh, and acknowledge that my brother has his heart in the right place.
But right now I need to get my act together before I have to face Leo so that I don’t make an absolute fool of myself. But what will I say to him?
The door handle turns and I’m shoved forward.
“What the heck,” I shout.
My statement is followed with silence, and then, “Robin?”
I meet Leo’s stunned gaze and watch as he blinks and stares again.
I narrow my eyes at the impression he gives of being surprised to see me, when in fact I’d bet a month’s salary he’s at Kix because of me.
“You’re here.” He frowns. “I wasn’t sure I’d see you while I was here, especially, um, in the storeroom.”
Leo quickly turns when a throat is cleared behind him. I move closer and spot Ryder leaning against the wall facing us.
“I can’t believe you two are in here already. You”—he points at me—“have only just started working here.”
My face heats with embarrassment as Leo turns and watches me. I smooth my hands down my pink shirt and jeans before I slip past Leo, careful that I don’t brush up against him, and give Ryder a kiss on the cheek. “I was looking for something,” I say as Ryder wraps an arm around my shoulders.
I turn to look at Leo, and add, “Why were you in there?”
Leo reaches inside, pulling out a pack of napkins. “Just used the last one of these.” He saunters away, and I find it difficult to tear my eyes away from his ass.
When I finally do, it’s to meet the amusement in Ryder’s. He clears his throat, which is obviously more to hide laughter than anything else. “Do I need to show you the ropes?” Ryder drawls as he keeps his arm around my shoulders and moves us into the main part of Kix.
“No. Just tell me where you want me.” I leave myself open to be placed behind the bar with Leo as I watch him serve a beer to the man sitting in front of him.
“I think for now just wipe some tables down and take orders. Numbers are on the tables, so don’t forget to note the table, okay?”
“I can do that.”
“Good. Leave the order with Leo but keep watch for when Leo’s filled it.”
I nod and can’t wait to start work. It’s my first adult job and I’m excited about that fact. I know a lot of the locals, so it shouldn’t be too difficult unless I get one of the cranky old guys.
As Ryder finishes talking, he kisses my cheek and glances at Leo before sighing and shaking his head. “Trouble,” he mumbles under his breath. “I’m going home to my family, but I’ll be around later for a short while if you need anything.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be fine with Leo,” I reassure my brother-in-law, at least I think that’s what I’m doing, and not trying to reassure myself.
“That’s what I’m worried about.” He chuckles and walks off.
I watch him go when my gaze collides with Leo’s frown as he also watches Ryder.
What is he thinking?
Sighing, I figure it’s easier to get our initial conversation out of the way before there are too many witnesses.
The minute I start moving toward the bar, Leo’s eyes hold mine and my whole body comes alive with tiny pinpricks of desire rolling through me. I gulp and try to just breathe as I wait for him to join me at the end of the bar, away from the two customers currently chatting over beers.
My heart beats rapidly, feeling like it will pound out of my chest, and when Leo leans across the bar, my gaze focuses on his full lips, and the tongue that he slips between them. “You’re friendly with the married owner.”
My eyes widen at his comment and I stutter before admitting, “Ryder is married to my half-sister, Dahlia. He’s family.”
If I hadn’t been watching him closely, I would have missed the brief flash of relief that flickers in his eyes. “That’s good to know.”
“Why are you here, Leo?” I blurt, and feel my cheeks heat.
“It’s not that far from school,” he answers, searching my gaze. “Figured I’d hang around town during the holidays as I had nowhere else to go.” He shrugs as though it’s no big deal, but I can see that it is as he looks away.
“I missed you around campus,” I surprise him with my bold statement, but not as much as I surprised myself.
I take a step away from the bar and start to fidget with the hem of my shirt.
“Robin—”
“Customers.” I dart away, but groan when I see who the customers are.
“Reece,” I hiss. “Stop glaring at Leo.” I take his arm and drag him around so that he has to look at me instead. “Stop it right now! I’m twenty-one not five. If I need your help, I know where you are to ask.” I sigh. “Please just stop, okay? This is my first day and I actually want to enjoy it, but I can’t with you glaring at Leo the whole time you’re here.”
My brother frowns.
Callie comes up to Reece and slips he
r arm around his waist. “She’s right. You need to calm down.” She kisses his cheek and turns to me. “Go enjoy your first night. We’re going to go.”
“We just arrived,” Reece grumbles.
“I am not going to sit in here with you on a date while you ignore me.” Callie raises a brow at her husband.
“I’m sorry.” He squeezes Callie’s shoulders. “Let’s go.” He narrows his eyes at me. “You behave and keep that shirt buttoned.”
I gasp and feel spitting mad at my brother, but luckily for him Callie gets him out of my sight by shoving him through the doors.
“Your brother is a hothead, Robin.”
I turn and sigh when I find Jeff, the owner of the only garage in the small town. “He is.” I move toward him. “What can I get you?”
He quickly gives me his order and I pass it over to Leo. As there are only a few customers in right now, I lean on the bar and wait. Leo turns away and my eyes track up his long legs to his sexy ass. He makes my toes curl with pleasure, and as my eyes focus on his hands I realize that he’s caught me staring. My eyes happen to glance down before I quickly look away and hear him chuckle as he approaches.
Leo places the drink on the bar, and leans close enough that he’s a breath away from my mouth. Meeting my gaze, he whispers, “It’s about time you saw me.”
I swallow back embarrassment and admit, “I’ve always seen you,” before I disappear to Jeff’s table with his drink and chips, knowing that Leo’s gaze is still on me.
“Are you okay?” Jeff asks. “You look flushed.”
Of course that observation makes me even more embarrassed to the point that I probably make a good impression of a tomato.
“I’m fine.”
“Hmm,” he chuckles with his gaze on the bar. “He’s about your age.”
“Now, Jeff, don’t be getting any ideas,” I tell him as I place his order on the table. “Give me a shout if you need anything else.”
“Will do.”
I turn from Jeff’s table, close my eyes and sigh before they snap open again at the sound of the voice that always grates on my nerves.
