  “Oh Christ. Fuck, fuck, fuck.”

She swallowed against his cock as it jerked in her mouth, and his entire body trembled. After the last wrenching spasm died away, he reached to pull her up. He wiped a dribble of cum from the side of her mouth and tugged her to lie on his chest before he pressed his lips to hers. He groaned as he tasted himself in her mouth, her sweetness mixed with the salty tang of his cum made his head spun.

“Wow,” was the only word he managed.

  “Wow,” Hollie whispered.

  “That’s my word.”

She smiled. “I’ve never done that before.”

  He sighed.

“I’m a fan of Google,” she said.

Hollie could feel Nick laughing as he kissed her. He slid his hands down her back and traced circles on her butt.

“You are so gorgeous,” he whispered in her ear. “And I’m not just saying that because you’re lying here naked in my arms after giving me a spectacular blow job, thanks to Google. You’re sweet and cute and you make me laugh.”

Her throat tightened. When guys had tried to push her into going down on them, she’d always shied away. But this was a new Hollie who was taking charge of her life to do what she wanted for a change and if it coincided with what Nick wanted then so much the better.

No objection when he snagged his wallet and pulled out a condom.

No objection when he rolled her onto her back.

No objection when he rubbed his slightly bristly cheeks against her as he moved down her body.

No—oohhh. He fluttered his tongue over her nipple while his fingers danced lower and she veered off track. Excitement bubbled and she could barely breathe. A teasing stroke around the hard nub of her clit and she whimpered.

“Want you inside me right now.” She paused. “Please.”

He laughed around her breast. “You need to do more research about recovery rates for males. You, however, don’t need any time at all and you’ve no idea how happy that makes me.”

He shifted up the bed to kiss her and as he pressed his tongue into her mouth, he thrust a finger deep inside her. She groaned as her muscles clamped around him. She was wired so tight, her chest hurt.

Nick lifted his head and stared into her eyes, their breath washing together. “I want you to come and come and come.”

One finger became two and she shuddered as she felt the jolt of his thrust clear down to her toes. He trailed his tongue down her body and she sucked air in fast gulps, never managing to fill her lungs. He dipped his tongue in and out of her navel, chuckling as her skin quivered under his mouth. She held her breath as he licked her lower belly and then his tongue joined his fingers between her legs and Hollie rumbled like a rocket on a launch pad readying for takeoff. The liquid stroke of his tongue over her clit forced a loud groan from her throat. She sank her fingers into his hair, and lifted her shoulders to look at him. He raised his head, his jaw shiny and wet with her cream, and the muscles of her sex clenched tight.

“Ouch,” Nick said with a dark smile.

  Her cheeks caught fire.

He pushed her thighs wider apart and licked and kissed and sucked her to oblivion. Her back arched as power swelled inside her past the point of containment. She exploded with a loud cry, stars bursting in her head as orgasm seized her in its teeth and shook her to boneless submission.

When she finally managed to open her eyes, Nick had crawled up to lie next to her, a smug smile on his face.

  “Did the earth move?”

  She rolled her eyes.

  Then the phone rang.

They stared at each other and Hollie said, “Better answer it.”

He grabbed the receiver and held it between them. “Hello?”

“The telephone’s working again,” Genna said. “Chris has managed to drive your cars here and cleared the track to the main road so you could get to Mulbery Manor and make the party if you take it steady.”

Hollie’s world stopped spinning. She stared at Nick, trying to figure out what he wanted to do. He didn’t look pleased so that gave her hope. Though she suspected this was up to her, that he was still too hurt to push for what he wanted.

She lifted the receiver from his hand and said, “We’d like to stay here, please. Could you call and tell the hotel we were unavoidably delayed?”

Nick put the phone down. When he smiled at her, Hollie melted. That was a dangerous smile because it made her want to do anything to see it again. He wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. “I don’t deserve to be this lucky.” He pulled back and looked at her. “You sure you want to stay? Is someone waiting for you at the manor?”

Time for her to be honest.

“Yes, I want to stay here with you and yes, there is—probably—someone waiting for me.” She took a deep breath. “I used a matchmaking service to set up a blind date. Well, a bit more than that.” She gulped. “A one night stand, because I didn’t want to see the New Year in alone. Again. Madame Eve found me what I was looking for and I was supposed to meet him tonight at the party.”

Nick loosened his hold, pulled away to lean up on his elbow, and something inside Hollie curled up and died.

“You paid someone to find you a guy to fuck?”

She cringed. “It’s not like that. Madame Eve wants to help people.” Her lip trembled and she had to fight not to grab a sheet and cover herself. “I’m not normally like this. I’m buttoned up tight, and guys go for my friends, not me. I’m a tax specialist for the Inland Revenue. Everyone hates me and…I wanted someone to love me, just for one night.”

“Yeah, well guess what? I’m not too fond of one-night-stands. The last one didn’t end so well for me.”

She felt as chilled as if he’d thrown her into the snow.

  Chapter Five

You fucking idiot. Nick would have smacked himself upside the head if he hadn’t thought it would make him look even more pathetic. Before Hollie moved so far away from him she fell off the bed, he pulled her into his arms.

  “You aren’t listening,” he whispered. “I’m not saying I don’t want you. I’m saying I don’t want a one-night-stand.”

She looked at him with such raw hope in her eyes, he realized he wasn’t the only one who’d been hurt.

“What happened last New Year’s Eve?” he asked.

  “Nothing.”

  He growled. “Try again.”

Hollie sighed. “I was at a party and couldn’t find my boyfriend. I wanted to kiss him while the clock chimed down, and on the final stroke I found him outside, fucking someone against the garden wall.”

  “Ah.”

“You know what really pissed me off?” Her little smile didn’t reach her eyes. “He’d never done that with me.”

  He gulped.

“I’m used to things not lasting,” she said. “They never have so I don’t look for more.”

“Liar,” he whispered. “We’re all looking for more.” He nudged her onto her back. “I’ve been looking for you. And taking you against a wall is number fourteen on my to-do list, right after sex on the washing machine, but before sex on the beach.”

She giggled and ran her thumb around his jaw. Nick felt as though she’d reached into his chest and stroked his heart back to life. His mouth went dry as he looked at her, legs spread, the folds of her sex plump and wet.

  “Sure about this?” he asked.

  “Certain.”

While his brain still functioned, he rolled on a condom. Fingers trembling, he positioned his cock at the entrance to her body and stared into her eyes. He told himself to go slow, but her hands clutched at his butt, urging him forward.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” he blurted.

“I’m going to hurt you if you don’t do something.”

As he slid into her, Hollie arched into his thrust and though he meant to go in a bit at a time, he kept pushing until their hips were locked together. She tightened her muscles around his cock and he gritted his teeth.

sp; Hot, wet, very tight.

  Don’t come, don’t come, don’t come.

  “Wow, you’re big,” she gasped.

He was torn between delight and concern. Not coming in the next ten seconds was a challenge. His cock roared and throbbed like a drag racer on the start line. So much for the blow job taking the edge off. The edge was back, a sharp, pointy thing—oh, that would be Hollie’s nail digging in his backside.

  “Move,” she pleaded.

As soon as he was sure the first thrust wouldn’t light the fuse.

“Sorry,” she said. “You’ve forgotten how, haven’t you? A year’s a long while. Shall I explain what to do?”

He let out a noise that sounded like a mix between a laugh and a growl.

“I’d like fast and furious,” she whispered.

  Thank God for that.

Supporting himself on his arms, he withdrew slowly, but made his first shunt long, hard, and deep. She groaned and wrapped her legs around his waist. The feel of her clenching around his body and his cock almost flipped him over. As he hesitated, her hands slid to his head and cupped his cheeks.

  “More,” she whispered.

He didn’t hold back. One more slowish penetration and then he was pounding into her. She lifted her hips into each driving thrust, her hands gripping his shoulders. His head fogged and his pulse raced as tension enveloped his body, spreading from his groin, and igniting a fire in the back of his head. He was caught in the grip of such deep pleasure, he could barely breathe.

His hips jerked faster and faster, and Hollie clung to him. He didn’t want to come first, but he was trying to scramble up a slippery slope and failing. Her breathing turned noisy, but she never took her gaze from him and he couldn’t remember ever looking into a woman’s face as he’d fucked her. He watched the way Hollie’s eyes clouded over with enjoyment and knowing she needed this as much as he did, made the urge to come impossible to resist.

She cried out and as he felt the ripple of her muscles contract around him, it triggered his own release. Fire flashed down his spine and ignited his balls, and for a moment he was insensible to everything but the exquisite sensation of spurting into her, each of his spasms matched perfectly to hers.

The sound of their ragged breathing filled the room. His heart had jumped into his throat and stayed there.

“Oh God,” Hollie whispered. “What the hell was that?”

He laughed and shifted to lie at her side, still inside her, still holding her tight.

“Seriously,” she said. “How did you make your hips move that fast? You’re not an ordinary guy, are you? An Olympic sprinter? Oh damn it, a werewolf.”

He sniggered and pressed his face into her hair, inhaling the sweet scent of her. He traced circles on her back, waiting for his ears to stop ringing and his breathing to slow. She had her arms around him, her breasts pressed against his chest, and he could feel her heart pounding. The light-headed lassitude trickling through him had rendered him boneless. And temporarily speechless. She’s mine.

Hollie’s heart felt about to burst with joy and yet that little nagging voice in her head said, No matter what he says—this is a one-night stand. The guy that Madame Eve had matched her with was supposed to be someone she might want to see again, but Hollie knew nothing about Nick, not what he did, where he lived, what he liked, what he didn’t. The guy selected for her had been carefully matched to fit. When Nick pulled away from her, she gulped, but he’d only wanted to dispose of the condom. He tossed another onto the bed.

“I don’t have enough to get us to the wall sex. We’ll have to save that for another day.”

“You want to see me again?” she blurted and then groaned, flinging her arm over her eyes. “Pretend that didn’t sound needy.”

Nick lifted her arm and kissed her forehead. “I need to see you again.”

  “We might live miles apart.”

He nipped her nose. “If we want this to work, it will.”

“Which side of the bed do you like to sleep on?”

“Doesn’t matter. I’ll be on top of you if you’re not on top of me.”

She laughed. “We could have nothing in common.”

Nick raised his eyebrows. “We already have one important thing in common.” He licked her neck. “We want this to work.”

  Hope flared in her chest.

“Where do you live?” he asked.

“Where do you live? I can always move.”

  Nick chuckled. “South-east London. Blackheath.”

“I have a place in Greenwich.” They were a few miles apart.

His face lit in a smile.

“Oh God, you know what?” she asked. “I suddenly believe in faeries.” Maybe a faery Madam Evangeline.

The sound of a mobile ringing made them both jump.

“Mine,” Nick said, and rolled out of bed to grab his pants. He slumped back on the bed and held it to his ear. “Hi, Mike.”

  “Where the hell are you?”

Hollie was close enough to hear the guy on the other end.

“Not far, but I got stuck in the snow and lost reception.”

“I told you to take a shovel.” Mike gave an exasperated sigh. “Did you even remember to pack boots and a warm jacket?”

  “No, Mum.”

“Christ, Nick. You need to plan a little for the unexpected, but the snow was bloody forecast. So what time do you expect to get here?”

“Not going to make it, sorry.”

Mike’s groan was very loud. “I don’t want to go to this thing on my own. We agreed to go together and I’ve already seen your perfect woman. Big breasts, legs to her armpits, long, blonde hair, and ditzy.”

Nick wrapped his fingers around Hollie’s hand.

“My tastes have changed,” he said and stared straight at her.

“You’ve scored, haven’t you?” Mike’s voice was incredulous. “All on your own?”

She pressed her lips together so she didn’t laugh and Nick glowered at her.

  “Yep, all on my own.”

“Why don’t you bring her to the party?”

“I’m not going to take the risk she likes tall, fair-haired guys with impeccable manners who could write a handbook on how to be prepared for anything, including a nuclear holocaust. See you next week, and Happy New Year.”

  “Happy New Year.”

Nick put down the phone and stroked her cheek. “That isn’t what you want, is it? A guy who has the whole set of Worst Case Scenario handbooks and knows them off by heart?”

Not anymore. “No. I already know what to do in case of a nuclear holocaust and I think it’s my duty to help those less fortunate than myself. That’s definitely you.”

He laughed. “What do we do if the bomb drops?”

“Have as much sex as possible and go out with a bang.”

He gave her the sweetest kiss ever. “You’re a girl after my own heart and I’m giving it to you. Take care of it.”

Hollie was so happy, she thought she might burst.

  ***

Chris stood watching Nick follow Hollie’s car down the road. He’d spread grit early this morning, so if the pair took it steady they’d reach the main road without incident.

Genna reached to wipe the snow from the plate on the gate to reveal the name Mulbery Court, Castillo Resorts.

“Have you ever known Madame Eve to make a mistake?” Genna asked.

“Never.” Chris tugged her back toward the house.

“But how did she know so much snow would fall, they’d both take the wrong road and they’d crash?”

“Same way she knew you’d walk through that field with the bull, and that you’d freak out and I’d be there to rescue your ass.”

He slid his hand onto her backside as they stepped back into the warmth.

“You shouldn’t have taken their money,” she said.

“But this way they think they found each other all by themselves.”

  “Does it matter?”

Chris nodded. “It does to them.”

His mobile rang and he pulled it from his pocket.

  “Chris, it’s me, Nick.”

  “Problem?”

“Sort of. I followed Hollie’s tracks and we’re both stuck in a field. Can you give us a tow?”

Chris laughed. “I’ll be right there.”
