Pushing herself up onto her elbows Missy gave him a penetrating stare, like she was trying to figure out something. “You’re genuine. Ya know? As a gamer girl, everyone is so fake around me.”
Now it was Ajax’s turn to be confused. “Because I’m genuine?” It seemed so simple.
“Everyone wants to sleep with me. Okay, that sounded cocky as shit. Most men want to sleep with me. Every guy I come across is real for just a split second before they realize who I am. Then it’s like a mask comes over them and they aren’t them. They are just trying to be what they think I want to get in my pants.” Missy said her eyes looking nowhere as she seemed to recall something.
“Sorry, I don’t really understand.” Ajax brushed her hand with his thumb.
“Exactly, that’s what makes you great. You don’t look at me like a gamer girl sex icon, and that’s why I want you.” She pushed a finger into his chest with the most authority a beautiful naked girl could muster. “Just don’t do anything stupid and maybe you’ll accept me outside of the game too.”
“Outside…” Ajax’s mind sputtered to a stop for a second. He kept forgetting about the world outside to an extent, and the thought of having her on his arm around Chicago had a smile creeping to his lips.
“Cool it, lover. We went fast because LR really doesn’t have any consequences. I’m not going to make it so easy for you in the real world.” She straddled him and laid her hands on his chest.
He could feel her wet slit on his hip. It brought back the fact that he had far more stamina in LR than he could possibly have outside it. A thought nagged him for a moment “You and Sky though? Is that part of ‘no consequences’ and…”
A finger to his lips silenced him “Sky and I actually know each other outside the game” She paused and a blush crept up her cheeks making her look adorable. “We both gave up guys for a bit. She’s been hurt pretty bad in the past. Just don’t push her okay?” The last sentence punctuated with a hard stare.
Ajax nodded as he felt Missy start to grind against his still hard cock.
“Now, are you still going to keep asking about another woman when I’m practically begging for round two?” She pawed his chest and rubbed her flower against him.
Ajax responded with action and rolled her over on her back.
She laughed and hooked his head down to her so she could enjoy his lips. She was still so hungry for more, and Ajax knew he was too.
CHAPTER 30
The next morning they packed up the tent and set off refreshed. The caravan had left an obvious trail for them to follow. The three of them set out at a fairly quick pace that would hopefully get them close to catching up by the end of the day, assuming the caravan only had half a day head start.
When they slowed down to regain their energy, Ajax shot off Arcane bullets to drain his mana and train his Arcane bullet and dual casting skills.
“Think we’ll catch up?” Missy asked. Though Ajax suspected it was more to start a conversation. The three of them had gone over it in detail that morning.
“Of course, at least eventually. We have two more days for the quest, and that’s assuming there has been no delay with the happenings. The caravan quoted us seven days when we headed out, but the caravan lost half a day from the ambush. It also sounded like the wagons weren’t in top shape when we left, but they managed to take all of them, so they could be traveling slower today.” Ajax moved closer and ran a reassuring hand across her back.
Missy had been craving his attention since he rescued her. This morning they were different together. Missy wanted to be physically close to him frequently, like little check-ins to make sure he was still interested. He wasn’t sure what had prompted this after last night, but he wasn’t objecting to getting the chance for small touches and the occasional kiss as they walked.
What he hadn’t been expecting was his and Missy’s displays actually attracted Sky. It was like she was finally convinced he wasn’t just another asshole in disguise. Ajax understood. If she was around Missy quite a bit, he was sure she had flocks of them hounding after her.
“We will catch up, hopefully, tomorrow morning.” Sky trailed a soft touch along his arm. She gave him a shy smile, giving Ajax lots of ideas of how to kill some time when they took a break. She must have seen the hunger in his eyes, because she bit her lip and returned eyes full of shy encouragement that made Ajax want to give her everything for an hour alone.
“Ha, Sky you are starting to make him uncomfortable.” Missy said, looking at the strain starting to form in his pants.
“I know, but maybe you were right and he’s not so bad.” Sky hooked her arm in his and talked to Missy around him.
Ajax looked back and forth and realized he’d missed a previous conversation. “Care to fill me in?” Ajax said to whichever one of them chose to clarify it.
Missy was more than happy to bail him out. “This is the normal Sky. She’s so flirty it gets her in trouble.”
Sky guffawed at the comment “No, I’m not normally THIS bad. I just feel like I don’t have to discourage you so much anymore Ajax.” She winked and pulled his arm against her soft cleavage, which spoke of anything but discouragement.
“So, me being kind to Missy is a sort of two for one sale?” Ajax said playfully.
Both girls let go of him, and he suddenly felt outnumbered. “We are not cheap, nor for sale,” Missy stated. Sky nodded in support. Ajax suddenly realized how terrifying having two women could be before he even solidified the second.
Ajax went quiet, and they reattached themselves, but they continued talking as if he wasn’t there. Missy started talking about her experiences with him in bed. Sky playfully encouraged him at some of the moments, but Ajax still didn’t speak. He was embarrassed to the point of letting his mind wander to escape hearing his sexual experience discussed.
His eyes strayed to the side of the road when he spotted a wrecked wagon.
“Girls.” Ajax’s first words in the last hour drew their attention and they followed his line of sight to the wreckage. They quickly circled it, inspecting the wrecked wagon. It looked recent, the splintering still sharp and the smell was still unique, not blended into the surroundings. There wasn’t much in the wagon except some textiles. The girls made short work of it.
“You think that’s from the caravan?” Missy was the first to speak.
Sky had found something else “Over here.”
Ajax and Missy found her kneeling behind a bush. Her hand on a bloody partial track left in the soft dirt. The print had to be the size of Ajax’s chest.
“We need to hurry.” Ajax could now see depressions in the grass left by the giant creature. The caravan was in some deep trouble.
Missy pulled her sword out of the last of yet another pack of gnolls.
“Why are there so many of these bastards?” Missy wiped off her sword on one of the furry dog men. Ajax still thought of them as dog men, though Sky had clarified that they were humanoid hyenas.
They were gangly humanoids with a thin pelt of brown or grey fur. Their proportions were off for a person. Their shoulders and necks were overly developed to support the large canine head, which jutted out forward instead of up, like a human giving them a hunched stance.
Ajax sighed at Missy’s comment. This was indeed the third pack they’d met trying to reach the caravan.
“I bet these and the giant were supposed to be the last leg of the escort. You know the part where there are a few ambushes and a mini-boss at the end?” Sky said stepping up next to Ajax and combing a hand through her hair throwing Ajax a flirtatious glance. She shook her hips for him as she walked past. Not even glancing back, she knew that she had his attention.
“I think Sky is right on this one. As much as we hate Richard and want to blame him for everything, I don’t know how he’d suddenly have a giant and a small army of gnolls at his disposal.” Ajax reasoned.
Missy wasn’t convinced; she seemed to think that Richard was behind this somehow.
r /> “At least these guys give good experience,” Ajax said looking on the bright side.
“I know!” Missy stepped into stride next to Ajax. He was finding that though she wasn’t as sensual as the uninhibited Sky, he still found himself drawn to her and her upbeat personality.
She was flipping around some invisible screen in front of her. “Look” she flicked her hands and what she had been searching for popped up for Ajax and Sky to see.
It was a ladder board. She had it filtered for melee classes and there at number twenty was his girl. The class next to her name was ‘champion’. He wasn’t sure what that meant, but it sounded like a decent class.
“Well, I’m 5th for my class and 12th for the ranged classes” Sky seemed happy with that ranking. Ajax wasn’t sure why it made that big of a deal for the early game. “Ajax is first for his class.”
“Really?” he looked to Sky. He hadn’t imagined he was doing so good.
“He’s only one of two magic users in the whole top 100. The only Arcane Gunslinger I see on the ladder too.” Missy smiled. “Luckily we got him first.”
Ajax felt pretty happy with that one.
“It’ll make you finding a professional team much easier if you can keep that uniqueness and lead in the magic department.” Sky said.
Ajax had shared his goal to go professional with the two of them. They both were already professional gamers, so Ajax took their tips to heart. He knew being good at the game was only part of getting on a good team.
“Pro scouts Ajax, the top people in each category will get some attention. Even if teams won’t start recruiting till the BRG convention in a month.” Missy looked at the surprised Ajax with a bit of sympathy. Ajax’s excitement only lasted a moment before he realized that would mean he had to get there, which meant an expensive flight.
“You said you wanted to try and get on a professional team right Ajax?” Sky didn’t seem to understand Ajax’s mixture of emotions. “You have to get to the convention, and before the convention, we need to stay on the top-level ladder and settle into our roles. The damage dealers are going to be hyper-competitive. Tanks and healers probably will be in limited supply if you really want to go that route.” Sky gave him a knowing look.
He hadn’t stopped complaining about being used to just cast shields; he clearly didn’t want to be a healer.
“I’ll have to think about it. Right now I’m clearly a caster. I should get at least a heal for solo content, and I’m sure it’ll get some use. But healing has always been a bit boring for me.” Ajax’s other advantage is he was only one of two casters on the list; he had some confidence he could stay on a caster leader board. Though it was still to be seen if he could out damage the other ranged damage dealers, he was sure he could find something else that made him unique.
“Buffs!” Missy shouted excitedly. “Casters come with buffs. If you could get a strong buff skill, that would give you a really good chance of being recruited.” Sky heard that and nodded to herself.
“If you had a good buff, it’s going to be a huge bonus for those looking to form teams.”
Ajax thought about it and was reminded of the huge list of spell books that the caravan had. They must have at least one buff spell among them.
Breaking Ajax from his thought Missy spoke up “We started gaining ranks quickly yesterday. I think some of them were in quests that condensed time like this and started dropping out yesterday.” Missy gave Ajax a reassuring smile.
“Maybe the caravan will give us a nice bonus for catching up and saving them from these gnolls.” But Ajax couldn’t summon much conviction into the statement as he said it.
It was late afternoon, the sun still promising a few hours of light when Ajax and the girls started to see signs that they’d caught up to the caravan. A recently sacrificed wagon was still being picked clean by the gnolls.
“I think the gnolls follow the giant and scavenge in its wake.” Sky observed as the gnolls looked to be just starting at the wreckage.
“You’re right. I thought they might be working with the giant, but it makes sense.” Ajax watched the gnolls as they started prying open the wagon. He wasn’t sure if they were too dumb to use the door or if they’d already tried it and it was stuck. He did a quick count, and there were five gnolls.
“Quick shots for those on the wagon first, then get the two out at the edge of the wreckage,” Ajax said. Gnolls were simple creatures. You hit one and they all come running. They were a step above basic one-shot fodder. Ajax and Sky could take them down with two to three shots.
Ajax spun up two Arcane Bullets, one on each hand aimed for the same gnoll. He could see Sky ready in his periphery and let loose his shot.
He scored a clean critical, dropping the gnoll quietly. Sky wasn’t as lucky, and hers started yipping a warning call as soon as the first arrow hit.
The other three were quick to charge the trio in a cacophony of hyena laughter. It made them seem crazed as they raised crude weapons and laughed from their slobbering mouths.
Missy caught the first one in an exchange of blows where she quickly overpowered the gnoll, despite it looking far more muscular than the petite woman.
Sky reloaded her arrows faster than Ajax and had put down her first target, moving onto her second.
When Ajax had taken down his second, the fight was over.
“Want to see if there are any valuables in the cart?” Missy asked.
They had gotten some decent loot from the past ones that had already been picked clean. The gnolls hadn’t had much time with this one though. Sky was already on it though.
“Give me a boost.” Sky pointed to the toppled cart; she’d need to get on top to open the door.
Ajax looped his fingers into a step for her, and she hopped up to the wagon, landing in a crouch. Her butt, perfectly framed by the tight fabric drew his eyes. He tried not to stare and failed. She looked down and caught him, wiggling her hips in response.
“You can look.” Missy teased.
“It’s encouraged.” Sky joined her.
Ajax could feel his cheeks warm. “Ahem, Sky what’s inside?”
She still smiled in victory and disappeared. Ajax could hear the door open, followed by an emasculating scream.
“Shut up!” Sky barked and the screaming stopped shortly. Her head popped back over the edge. “Looks like we found Borris.”
“Missy, I’ll give you a boost up. Can you help her get him out?” Ajax was already getting back into a stance to help her over. Missy came at a run and launched herself over the lip of the wagon without Ajax’s help.
Borris was quiet while the girls got him out of the wagon, but when he got his feet on solid ground he became more vocal than Ajax would have liked.
“Ah yes, the adventurers who abandoned the caravan. This is all of your fault.” Borris said with his nasal voice.
“That’s no-” Ajax started.
“You will flip this wagon back over and get it moving. Then you will pay reparations for this disaster of a trip.” Borris verbally steamrolled him.
“Uh... No?” Sky joined the conversation still on top of the wagon.
The plump merchant sputtered at the word. “You will pay for these damages!” The man seemed almost manic with the idea.
Ajax was close enough now to realize the man smelled like piss under all the perfume he wore. He must have soiled himself in that wagon. Ajax was wondering if he hadn’t cracked as well.
“You will, You Will, You WILL!” Spit flying from his reddening face Borris started to lose it.
A brown quest scroll popped up in front of Ajax to accept a new quest
Each of them had on a hard face, staring forward. Ajax knew they were both struggling with the decision.
“No” Missy was the first to speak up. “We shouldn’t, not unless we are forced. We are better than bandits.”
Borris snapped his mouth s
hut, and his eyes went wide at the implication of what she said. Ajax thought he might have suddenly realized how precarious of a position he actually was in.
“Fine.” Sky sighed. She plucked her bow in Borris’ direction. “You leer at me again, and I’ll at least take an eye.”
Borris pointedly looked anywhere but at Sky. He seemed to settle on Ajax. He was calming down rapidly after being threatened. Who knew?
“Please take me up to the rest of the caravan and save them. I will find a suitable reward amongst our remaining wares.”
A more suitable quest scroll appeared and the trio accepted
