Sisters of the Dawn's Early Light (Mystical Slayers Heritage Book 2) Page 11

by Michael W. Huard

Each sister focused quickly and found their one spot just below their navel; they centered their thoughts and shielded the brain scans as much as possible. They had trained for this, and now was the perfect time to use it.

David, who was somewhat slim and rather tall, was wearing gray leather pants, high black boots, and a black sweater. He walked about while looking each group of girls up and down and then turned to his boss.

He moved his head back and forth one more time to gather the necessary information and then began. “The curly-haired blond is some sort of doctor. The one near her in the cat suit is into robotics, and she's trying to figure me out right now.” He then turned to the next three, his eyes flashing twice. “They are all attempting to block their thoughts.” Gordo was taken aback by David’s information.

“What are you all hiding?” he yelled loudly. “Tell me, David, what of the diamond studded one?”

Another man in the group now chimed in, “Who cares who these babes are, strip them of their weapons and clothes, and put them with the rest of the catch.”

Another guy added, “Yeah, fuck them…oh…good idea, strip them bare!”

Gordo was thinking the same thing all along, but he also knew if shots were fired and a skirmish broke out, these special women would be damaged goods. However, he still wondered what they represented; they were all unique.

He turned to the cyborg, David. “You still haven't told me who these women really are?”

All five women were ready to fight, running was no longer an option. This would be a bloodbath, yet what other choice did they have?

David scanned them again. “I can tell you this, sir, they’re some sort of resistance fighters. All of them are enhanced, and there's something about them that doesn’t add up.” He gazed at Raegan. “This one is their leader, and she is scheming on how to defeat us. The diamond studded girl is thinking about killing you.”

He was about to continue what he was saying when drones started zooming by in the sky above. Corporation vessels must have spotted unusual activity in the region. Before any of the people below could make a move, the drones began blasting some serious firepower down at the gathering.

Blu, from her far-off rooftop position, saw that a serious issue was at hand. With drones now flying about, things were bound to get crazy. She moved to a better spot and became a sniper to help in any way possible.

Without any warning, a huge explosion erupted from a building real close to the city square and everyone in the vicinity ran for their lives.

The drones went by and swirled around to come back for a second volley of attacks as the sisters ran for cover, shooting at the posse of men as they ran.

The posse tried to retaliate as the drones came by a second time. Even more areas exploded and finding cover became the highest priority for anyone that wanted to survive. Blasts tore into buildings and people. The Corporation was relentless and cared little for banned issues such as this one in the street.

A few of the bad men running about came at some of the sisters, but Blu shot them from a distance and none of the women were killed. The drones above, after issuing their very stern and reckless warning, flew off into the distance.

In the end, the entire city square was a bloody mess; those that were tied up had no way to escape, so severed body parts, blood, and guts were splattered around everywhere.

As to those that remained of the posse, several wounded and maybe six or seven of them now came out from hiding. One was Gordo, the red beret wearing scoundrel, their leader. He was burned, but overall he hadn't come off too bad.

Before any of the girls could stop her, Chaya was charging after him.

The other men cared little about fighting now as they scattered in various directions. Chaya leaped on Gordo’s back, screaming for vengeance.

She drove him to the ground, sending his red hat flying off his head. Sitting on top of him in the mounted position with her legs on each side of his rib cage, he spat out profanities at her from below as she called him a few names of her own. “I don’t give second chances,” she screamed as she smashed a series of elbows down on his face. By the time Zaey reached her, the man’s head was a battered and bloody mess.

As the remaining scoundrels scattered into the wind, the sisters went about trying to locate any survivors. In time, other people came out from there hidden sanctuaries and also helped with the search.

The good news was some of the people that had been captured, though many were hurt, had survived the explosions from the Corporation attack. Gradually, as everyone gathered back together, people walked about the crowds looking for love ones. Many cried out in pain for lost ones, or in joy for those that had survived.

Out of nowhere, one of the remaining posse guys made a run at the sisters. He was coming directly at Chaya with a mad glaze over his eyes. Jansa noticed such and immediately stepped in front of him, spinning around fiercely with a wild crocodile tail thrashing heel kick. She blasted him firmly in the skull, and he launched five feet in the air before dropping with a solid thud to the street surface.

Another of the remaining bandits appeared from the other side of the square, and he too made a rush at the woman. Raising his fist, he came right at Sinaye and the two of them immediately exchanged some shots and deflected some punches. Sinaye roundhouse kicked the guy with a nice shot to his ribs, but he was not going down easily.

Raegan appeared and fired a shot into his chest, sending him crashing back to the ground. Sinaye looked at her sister with a frown, for she had wanted to take out some built up aggression on the guy, but after a moment, she thanked her and went on helping the others. Both were going to see if Gordo was still alive, but several of the other women had already taken upon themselves to make sure he was well punished.

An older man with a crutch appeared and announced, “This is just another example of how the wicked Y-Wood Corporation is run. Someone has to do something about these evil rulers. The United States of America is no longer united, and the country is in great peril! It's so sad…so very sad.”

Another man was quick to thank the sisters for trying to help. “You people must know there are very few folks in this world who would dare to stand up to these horrible men here today like you did.”

An elderly woman stood on the stone pedestal before everyone present. By now, word had spread and people from all over the city had made their way to the square to witness the craziness.

She wore brown rags and a wide-brimmed hat, yet she carried a persona of great wisdom about her. Everyone became silent when she spoke. “We know who you are,” she coarsely spoke as loud as her old voice would allow her to. “You are the Mystical Slayers.” She held her nose up with pride at those words. All the citizens of a once proud city looked at the five women before them.

A man now climbed up beside the woman talking. He was younger and had a much louder voice. “That's right, we know who you are. You are, for all of us, one of the reasons we wake up and still have a glimmer of hope each day. You girls are the sisters of the dawn's early light.”
