The Lonely Troll Page 21

by Harpie Alexander

After being led deeper into the forest, Skarde, the seven women and herself were brought between Gardal and all the other members that made up the tribe.

Skarde stood trial explaining how he had lost his way as a youngling, and had been alone for so long, how he came upon Delilah and rescued her, how he fell in love and how that love turned into the most precious gift in the world. He assured them that the other women came willingly, needing to escape the treachery of human men.

Luckily, Gardal and the other members of the tribe were so taken by the story, they opened their arms and their hearts to everyone, especially Vanesh.

“Ahh, here you are. I thought you were with Tatiana learning the mastery of tanning,” Skarde entered their tent, strode forward and wrapped his arms around both her and their son.

Delilah shook her head no, leaned in and placed a kiss on his lips, sighing blissfully. She needed a break from the female troll. Tatiana was kind, but very aggressive with her work and with a newborn child, it was just a bit much. While no one expected her to do anything, it just wasn’t in her to sit idle.

“And word on your family?” she asked.

When the tribe realized who Skarde was, a few left to send word to his long lost family and tribe who lived several weeks' travel away. It was just too much for her to make that kind of journey, and since she couldn’t go, he refused. She told him she wouldn’t hold it against him. She could handle a few more months, knowing he’d been gone so many years without his family, but again, he refused. So it only made her that more appreciated of the tribe when others set out on their behalf.

Skarde smiled deeply. “They are on their way, my mate. I can’t wait for you to meet them.”

“If they are anything like you, or the people here, I can’t wait to meet them too,” Delilah smiled, then peered down at Vanesh, who had fallen asleep in her arms.

With a loving mate, a beautiful son, and a welcoming tribe, with Skarde finally having the chance to reunite with his family, Delila couldn’t have felt more happy, love and at home.

  The end.
