“Talk to me, Sunshine. Tell me what you see, what you feel when you touch me.” He leaned down and licked his way into her mouth. “I need to hear you, darling,” he whispered against her lips.

She swallowed hard and looked back at his chest. “I, uh, I see you’re very muscular, and very hairy.” She giggled, and then looked embarrassed.

“That’s it, love, keep going,” he encouraged.

Her fingers spread out. “You have all this thick hair that spreads across your chest.” She let her hands slide down his stomach. “It narrows down past your belly button and then spreads out to form a kind of nest for your, uh, your…” She blushed furiously. “Your member?”

Mali had to bite his lip to keep from laughing and then groaned when she cupped his full length in her palm.

She sighed. “You’re so hard, but it feels silky at the same time.” Her eyes narrowed as she peered closer. “Criminy, you must be ten inches long.” Eyes filled with worry gazed up at him. “I hope we’re not being overly optimistic about us fitting together.”

Mali couldn’t hold back his laughter then. “Don’t you worry, Sunshine. We’ll fit just fine, no problems at all.” He grinned when she rolled her eyes. To take some of her stress away, he lowered his hand between her thighs and began to tease her clit with soft touches.

  “Oh, God,” she groaned.

“Come on, don’t stop now. Tell me what else you see.”

She gave him a disbelieving look. “Uh, well, this is shaped like a mushroom.” She ran her thumb across the head of his cock. “And it’s leaking,” she added. His groan morphed into a growl when she promptly sucked it into her mouth for a taste. “Hmm, you taste kind of salty, and bitter, but good.” She smiled and stared up at him from beneath her lashes.

“Woman, you’re teasing me,” he cried.

Melissa laughed and scooted down in the bed. “It’s only teasing if I’m not willing to carry through.” She cupped his hairy sac, fondling gently, and then licked her way up his shaft and flicked her tongue over and around the head.

“Suck me, Sunshine. Open your mouth and suck my cock,” he begged.

Gripping his shaft firmly, she opened her mouth and took him in as far as she could. She’d only managed to suck his length a couple of times before he reached down, grabbed her under the arms, and pulled her up until their faces were even. He kissed her deeply, almost savagely, as he slipped a hand between their bodies and traced the cleft of her sex, parting the flesh and dipping inside. Melissa rocked her hips, moving against his hand.

“I can’t wait, baby, I need you now. I wanna come inside you this first time.” His hands moved around to caress the cheeks of her ass before he gripped her firmly and rolled, ending up with him above her, lying in the cradle of her thighs. Bending down, he grabbed the condom package off the floor and tore it open with his teeth. After rolling the protective sheath on, he grasped his erection and pushed it inside his mate, watching as her flesh parted for him. A harsh breath released as he drove deeply, grinding his hips against her. He fought the wolf who wanted to place their mate on her hands and knees and claim her properly.

Mali withdrew and thrust deeply inside her again and again in a frenzy of deep thrusts. The wolf growled in pleasure when she locked her ankles behind his back and lifted her arms, looping them around his shoulders and threading her fingers through his hair. He could feel her legs quivering and her pussy clenching around his cock as he pounded into her soft, welcoming body. “Come for me, Sunshine, come for me again.”

Almost on cue, Melissa cried out with her release. “Mali!”

He came, his entire body jerking and rocking as his seed shot into the latex, pulse after pulse. Alarm settled in when he felt his canines drop in anticipation of claiming his mate, and he had to bury his face in her neck to hide until he could gain control. For long minutes, he lay still, buried within her warmth. When his razor sharp teeth finally receded, he slid free of her body, fell to the bed, and pulled her close into his arms. It pleased him and the wolf when she snuggled even closer and laid her face against his chest. “Are you all right, Sunshine?”

  “Mmmm, perfect,” she groaned.

He chuckled. “That sounds like a compliment.”

“It is. You were wonderful.” She was quiet for a few minutes and then gazed up into his eyes. “What happens now, Mali? I mean, I uh, well, um, I’m not really into casual sex or just fooling around.”

Mali bent and kissed the top of her head and then closed his eyes. He couldn’t tell her what she wanted to hear. He knew Remus would allow the mating once she understood about the wolves, but he had no way of knowing what her reaction to any of it would be. It’s not fair to promise you forever until I know you can love both me and my wolf. He groaned and hugged her closer. He didn’t want to lose this special woman. “I’m not fooling around, Sunshine. I feel very strongly about you, and I would like for us to get to know each other a little better.” He tilted her chin up and brushed his lips against hers. “Will you come home with me tonight? I want you to see my house, and I wanna spend the night holding you close in my arms. I wanna make love to you in my bed, with no interruptions. Will you do that?”

Melissa’s eyes widened, and she swallowed hard. She nodded slowly. “Yeah, I’ll come home with you.”

“Hello, anybody here?” a loud, male voice called out from downstairs.

Melissa looked horrified. “We didn’t lock the door before we came up here,” she squealed.

Mali winced at the shrill tone of her voice and then watched in amazement as she jumped from the bed and proceeded to dress faster than anyone he’d ever seen. He chuckled. He had a feeling she was going to lay into him later about that unlocked door. Sighing, he rose and reached for his pants as she headed downstairs. It was then he remembered the used condom. Grimacing, he pulled it off and wondered what the hell he was going to do with the damn thing. He glanced around. Hell, there isn’t even any water up here. He clenched his teeth and was just about to pull on his clothes anyway, when Melissa ran back up the stairs.

“It’s the delivery guy from the hardware place bringing the paint and supplies. I’m gonna let him stack it down there. Here,” she tossed him her purse, “I’ve got some wet wipes and tissues in there. It should be enough for you to clean up.” Turning, she raced back downstairs.

Amazed, he looked down at the purse. She’d thought of his comfort even when she’d been embarrassed about almost getting caught. I love her! His thoughts didn’t really surprise him. His heart had been involved since he’d first scented her at the wedding reception. Now he just had to convince her that living with a wolf was a good thing, and he had to do it before Michael got back from his honeymoon.

Remus looked at Ethan and growled. “They bought a cabin?” he bellowed.

“No,” Ethan replied, “he only made an offer. The realtor said she thought the family would probably take it, but it’s not official yet.” Ethan had never seen his Alpha brother lose his cool so completely before.

“How far away is it from pack holdings?” Remus asked.

“It’s about twenty-five miles from here, which would make it about five miles outside our land,” Latan answered.

Remus paced up and down his kitchen. “What’s the place like? Hell, you remember the cabin Constantine held Maddie in, don’t you? Bars on the windows, double locks on the doors, the damn place was set up like a prison, only with all his medical crap.”

Ethan sighed, knowing that nothing he could say would calm his brother down. He’d been devastated when they’d rescued Maddie and he’d seen where they held her. Remus had ordered the small cabin leveled after they’d disposed of Constantine. “Right now, it’s fairly normal. It sits in a small clearing, surrounded by heavy tree coverage on three sides and a stream on the fourth. We looked around the inside after they left, and it’s got some peculiar features.”

Remus narrowed his eyes. “What kind of peculiar features?”r />
Latan cleared his throat. “There are four rooms down in the cellar beneath the house, two large and two small. They’re bare, with no windows. The upstairs has a couple of regular bedrooms, a living room, and a small kitchen. There’s an outside door off the living room and the kitchen, along with four windows on the upper level. It has a generator in the basement that supplies electricity.”

“Shit, it’s a perfect prison,” Remus whispered.

Ethan walked over and put his arm around his older brother. “It doesn’t have to be a prison, Remus. I’ve left a full-time guard on it, so we’ll know if anybody comes or goes from there. We’re not gonna let anything happen to Maddie, bro, you have my word.”

Remus turned and fully embraced his brother. “I know, Ethan, but I can’t help but worry about what Kaugh’s planning.” He took a deep breath and stepped back. “Is there anything else?”

Ethan exchanged an uncomfortable look with Latan before attempting to answer Remus. He didn’t want to tell him about seeing the cat, but it wasn’t in his nature to hide things from his Alpha, or his brother, for that matter.

“Yeah, there was something else,” Latan answered. “There was a black cat hanging around, one that looked an awful lot like Kit.”

“Who the hell is Kit?” Remus asked.

“Sorry, that’s the name of Tania’s cat. Anyway, the cat just came walking out of the woods and kind of wandered over and jumped into Marty Dyer’s arms.”

Remus sat down at the table and ran his fingers through his hair. “So, let me get this straight. A cat, which looks like our new teacher’s pet, came walking up to the enemy and just jumped into his arms.”

Ethan shook his head. “Not exactly. She didn’t jump into his arms, he picked her up.” He laughed. “He thought she was a stray and was gonna take her with him when they left.”

  “What stopped him?” Remus sighed.

Latan smirked. “She sank all four sets of her claws in him and took off back into the woods. Believe me, that stopped him cold.”

Remus glared at Ethan and Latan. “So we’re just supposed to believe it’s a coincidence that this cat just wandered into an area more than twenty miles from her owner’s cabin and spent some time with one of Kaugh’s men?” He shook his head angrily. “Not happening! You can bet if the cat was there, Tania was not far away. I’m telling you, there’s something strange about that woman.” He thought for a minute. “Koril still hasn’t come up with anything on her background that’s helpful. I want one or both of you to stick close to her for a few days. Since you’ve already been hanging around her, she shouldn’t be suspicious of you like she would be of someone else. I want to know her every move until we know more about her or until we take Kaugh out.”

Ethan looked at his brother. “Remus, do you know why she doesn’t have a wolf scent?”

Remus growled softly. “No, but I know what you mean. I couldn’t scent any animal on her when I met her. Vanard told me that she’s a half-breed, but he couldn’t, or wouldn’t, say what breeds were involved. He said she’s capable of shifting, but he didn’t know anything more.”

“All right, we’ll keep an eye on her for you, but I gotta be honest with you, bro. Neither one of us believes she has anything to do with Kaugh. Just from the little time we’ve spent with her, we haven’t sensed anything dishonest.”

Remus gave him a stern look. “I respect your feelings, Ethan, I really do, but I need you to keep an open mind. This is the life of your Alpha Femm on the line here, not to mention all the other wolves on the mountain. Come on, man. Think with the big head and not the little one until all this is over.”

Anger raced through Ethan as he stormed to his feet. “I’ve always been willing to give my life to protect my Alpha Femm, Alpha Remus, and you damn well know it. I’ll keep my objectivity and keep my eye on Tania until you get all the information you need to take this man down. I guarantee you don’t have to worry about my little head compromising your plans in any way.” Without another word, he turned, threw open the back door, and left the house. He breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the door slam closed and felt Latan come walking up behind him. He turned and looked at his brother. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.” He snorted. “Remus had it coming. Don’t worry, he’ll get over his snit and probably apologize later.”

“I don’t want an apology. I want him to lay off Tania. You and I both know there’s no way she’s involved in any of this.”

“I agree. That doesn’t change the fact she’s keeping secrets, though.”

“No, you’re right. It’s definitely time to find out just what those secrets are. I vote we head over and pay a little impromptu visit to our new teach. What do you say?”

  “Lead on, bro.” Latan chuckled.

Tania stared into the trees, waiting for Vanard to show himself. She’d been expecting him and had scented him on the wind while he was still a fair distance away. She narrowed her eyes as he came into view.

“Good evening, Kitania,” he called out as he got closer.

“Hello, Vanard. What’s so important that we needed to meet tonight?”

“No time for pleasant chit-chat, huh?” He smirked. “You’re more like Remus than I realized.”

“What the hell does that mean?” she asked angrily.

“Just that he never wastes time on pleasantries, either, always all business, just like you.”

She sighed wearily. “Why are we here, Vanard?”

“I thought you would want to know that Remus has called a meeting of the Elders tomorrow night.”

“What’s the meeting about?” she asked curiously.

“I don’t know. He wouldn’t give any more information. I do know that he’s getting increasingly suspicious of you, always asking me questions that I can’t really answer. Today, I found out he has Koril doing an in-depth background check on you.”

Tania laughed. “Let him check all he wants. He won’t find anything. The National Council made sure of that.”

Vanard gave her a strange look. “Where do you come from, Kitania? What’s your background, and, more importantly, what’s your purpose here?”

She shook her head slowly and gave him a feral grin, allowing her fangs to slip down and lie against her lip. “I could tell you all that, but then I would have to kill you.” She laughed, quoting her favorite spy cartoon. To make her point, she let her eyes flash as she lowered her fangs even farther.

Vanard took a step back and glared at her. “I’m the head Elder of a wolf shifter pack. I have the right to know what’s going on in my own territory. Maybe I’ll just call a friend I have on the Council and find out what I wanna know.”

She shrugged. “Go ahead, make your call. One less Elder isn’t going to hurt this pack.”

“I don’t have to put up with your crap, young lady. I could just go to Remus and tell him what I do know. Believe me. He would be in your face so fast your head would spin.”

She walked close and stared up into his eyes. “If you do anything to hinder my assignment, I’ll personally see to it that the Council removes you from this mountain, and I won’t care what they decide to do with you. I’m here to do a job for them, and not you or anybody else is gonna get in my way.” Furious at her own loss of control, Tania turned and stalked off into the woods, leaving Vanard to think about his possible fate.

As she walked along the path that would take her back to her cabin, Tania wondered what the Council would say when she told them this was going to be her last job for them. For eight years, since she turned eighteen, she’d been on a quest to take Kaugh down. She’d been close several times, but not this close. He was going down this time, with the help of this pack, and then it would over.

The memories of her years in one of his testing labs still brought nightmares to her sleep now and then. She’d never known her mother or her father, only the cold, impersonal, and sometimes cruel treatment of the doctors and their staff.
Kaugh hadn’t been in charge then, merely an assistant to an equally evil and disturbed researcher. Research, that’s a laugh. How they could call the things they did to us “research” is beyond me.

Her pain and misery ended when she was ten years old. Her guardian angel, a stranger by the name of Tocho, took out the facility that held her prisoner. He’d been filled with rage when he freed the shifters being held, but more so with her because she’d been the only child there. She’d seen him kill the doctor in charge, and then felt great sadness when there was a price to pay for his bravery. Kaugh had managed to injure the brave man before escaping himself. As soon as she turned eighteen, Tania had sworn to find and kill the man that had brought pain to her savior.

She came out of the trees into the clearing that housed her cabin and stopped. Ethan and Latan were sitting on her back porch. Her steps slowed as she approached them warily. What the hell are they doing here?

“Hey, Tania,” Ethan called out. “Hope you don’t mind, but we wanted to talk to you for a minute.”

“Hey,” Latan added, “where you been?”

“Just taking a walk.” She looked at them suspiciously, but only sensed curiosity and lust. “What’s up?”

“Will you sit with us?” Ethan scooted over, making room for her to sit between them.

She frowned, but walked slowly over and sat down on the porch step. “Okay, I’m sitting, now talk.”

Ethan chuckled and picked up one of her hands while Latan picked up the other one. “Don’t look so worried, it’s nothing bad.”

“In fact,” Latan added, “we’re sort of hoping you’ll think it’s good.”

Tania tried to tug her hands free, but they wouldn’t let go. “Okay, if it’s so good then spill.”

“We want you to reconsider.” Ethan smiled as he caressed her fingers with his thumb.
