Wadding up the wrapper her burger had come in, Lisa sucked at the straw in her malt and swallowed, grinning at her sister, Ginny as she took a deep breath. Her sisters had brought her some ‘fast-food’ as a relief from the boring hospital food she had been forced to exist on for the past week.

Ginny asked, "What is Brian going to do about the car?"

She shrugged. "Fix it, I guess. He’s awfully good at that sort of thing."

Peggy, the other sister asked, "Wasn’t he mad that you wrecked it?"

Lisa shook her head. "He’s just glad that I’m alive. He thinks the accelerator cable got bound up or something. At least, that’s what he said. I think he’s going to put some kind of electronic throttle system thingie in it so it won’t happen again."

Peggy said, "I’m still confused about why you were in separate vehicles." She leaned forward, fixing her older sister with one squinted eye. "And, why were you only wearing gym shorts and t-shirt? I’ve never seen you go out of the house without underwear and shoes on."

Lisa shrugged, coloring, knowing what her sister was thinking; that she had a guy on the side somewhere. It wasn’t true, anyway, but she didn’t have an answer for her. Lisa couldn’t remember a thing.

"I really don’t know, Sis! That whole week is a complete loss to me! The doctor says the knock on the head and the trauma of the wreck gave me some kind of amnesia."

She looked down at the white sheet and cotton blanket covering her and eased her broken leg in its cast on the pillows that supported it. She finally said, "The worst thing is; I was afraid of Brian when I woke up and I don’t know why. He’s never been anything but perfect for me."

Ginny asked, "How did you get those dreadful braids in your hair?"

Lisa dropped her empty cup in the bag with the wrapper and wadding them up, tossed them toward the trash can near the foot of the bed, missing by an inch. Peggy bent to retrieve the bag and dropped it in.

Saying, "I can’t remember that either.", Lisa grimaced as she thought of the awful pictures her sister had taken of her hair after the accident.

The door opened to admit Brian, wearing slacks and a white shirt and Lisa felt her heart do a flip inside her as she first saw him. A flush climbed her neck and spotted her cheeks as she thought of his strong hands and what he could do with them. An image of being pinned down and ravaged, happily, came and went in her mind and she blushed even more.

Seeing the looks the two exchanged, Ginny gathered up her younger sister and guided her out the door, saying, "We’ll be back tomorrow!"

Brian moved to the head of the bed and leaned over her, kissing her thoroughly before straightening up and sighing as he just looked at her. Her hand went to his and she leaned her head against his shoulder as she pulled him to a sitting position on the bed beside her.

He said, "I’ve been worried about you."

Instead of replying to his statement, she said, "Let’s get married when I get out of the hospital. I don’t want to wait anymore; too many things can happen between now and our wedding date. The wreck taught me that."

Surprisingly, he didn’t object and point out that the invitations had already been sent out, that the church and hotel ballroom had been booked, or that he had paid a deposit for their honeymoon. He simply said, "Whenever you want. Wouldn’t you at least like to get your cast off first? It might be kind of restraining on the wedding night."

She smiled up at him. "It might be kind of fun. Being restrained, I mean."

Chuckling because she so rarely indulged in any kind of sexual innuendo, he asked, "Any particular time of day you’d like?"

Putting a finger to her lips, she thought a moment and said, "Sunset, I think."

Shaking his head as he smiled uncertainly, he asked, "Why sunset?"

"Because it happens every day. It can represent the promise of more days to come."
