I couldn’t help but laugh at his excitement.
Symon pulled the little guy into his chest and started mumbling to him—because yes, we had to get him a boy piglet. He looked up at us with bright, excited eyes. “You guys got me a pet pig!” He held the black, grunting piglet against his chest and pecked my lips, then Tanner’s. “Where did you even find him?”
“Tanner and I contacted a local rescue and asked them to give us a call if they got any male piglets in. They called us yesterday.”
Tanner nodded. “Apparently, they rescued a whole litter from a man that couldn’t afford to keep them or something. The place came out to inspect our home a week after we moved in.”
Symon kissed our lips again. “Thank you. I love him.”
I reached over and pet the little piglet’s head. I hated to admit that he was pretty damn cute.
Symon kissed the pig’s head. “Did you make sure we’re allowed to have him here? What if there’s weird rules with the homeowner’s association?”
“Don’t worry, pumpkin. We took care of everything.”
“Sorry, of course you did. Oh my god! I can’t believe you did this! I love him. I love you both. Ah! He’s so cute! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
I laughed again and Tanner walked toward me with a giant smile on his face. He put his arm around me and I kissed his cheek, then I asked, “Were you able to bring everything inside?”
“Yep. The pig is all set. We’ll just have to get everything set up in the spare bedroom.” Tanner kissed the side of my head as we watched Symon climb onto our bed with the little piglet.
“Tanner?”
“Yeah, Jax?”
“There’s a pig on our bed.”
He snorted out a laugh. “I can see that.”
“Yeah, but… why is there a pig on our bed?”
He pulled me tighter into his side as he chuckled. “Because we want to make our boyfriend happy.”
I sighed. “True.” I watched Symon sitting in the center of the bed with the piglet between his legs. He was petting him and hugging him and kissing him, and Symon looked happier than I’d ever seen him. “Okay, I guess it’s worth it for that smile.”
Tanner laughed. “Totally worth it.”
Symon looked at us with huge grey eyes and a wide grin. “I know what I’m going to name him!”
“What’s that?” Tanner asked as we walked closer to them.
“Beefcake!”
Tanner and I burst out laughing, and we climbed on the bed with Symon and Beefcake to meet the newest member of our family. Symon grinned and kissed my lips, then Tanner’s, then Tan kissed mine.
I’d been wrong before. Symon is my future, Tanner is my past. Well, I guess that was kind of true, but there was more to it than that because now, they were both my future. Symon and Tanner are my present and my future. Yeah, that’s more like it. And I couldn’t be happier.
