Chance Encounter Page 11

by Alex Tempera

“So, this is what your room looks like. It’s huge,” she said.

“I’m a big guy. I need the room,” Chance smiled. “It’s not as big as his. His takes up the whole second floor. Mine is about half and then there are two other rooms plus the bath. Not my fault you never came up here.”

“Um, actually, it is,” Janet laughed. “I bet no woman has ever been in your room.”

“Well, that’s true,” Chance laughed as he held his side. “Don’t do that.”

  “What’s that?” she asked.

“Make me laugh. Hurts like hell,” he smiled.

Janet kissed his cheek. “I’m gonna be downstairs, straightening up a little.”

“I’ve been in the hospital a month, I haven’t been here to dirty it.”

“I know, but it needs to be aired out, vacuumed, and dusted. I went shopping so you have lots of food. I’ll also put your vinyls back where they belong.”

  “Thanks,” Chance said. “For everything.”

“Well, you’re welcome,” she smiled as she left the room.

Evan looked over at Chance. “Hungry, Baby?”

  “Very,” he smiled.

“She made enough to feed an army,” Evan said.

“Well, she knows how we eat,” Chance smiled.

  26

Evan walked into the room and smiled at Chance, who was sleeping. He was about to sit down when Chance opened his eyes. “You OK?”

  “Did Janet leave?” he asked.

“Yes, she and Barney left an hour ago. You should see this place. It’s spotless, not that it was dirty before, but now everything sparkles.”

“I can imagine,” Chance smiled. “Boss?” he licked his lips.

Evan walked over to him and kissed his mouth softly. “Baby?”

“I need you, bad,” he whispered.

  “You sure?”

“I need your mouth on me,” he growled. “I’ve been dying to feel it. It’s been so long.”

“I know the feeling. I haven’t been with you since the hospital, and that was pretty amazing, for my own hand job.”

“I just need help with these boxers,” Chance said.

Evan unbuttoned his own jeans and slid them down his legs. He lay on the bed next to Chance and pulled away the blankets. “Oh, Baby, you are bursting, aren’t you?”

“You have no idea,” Chance growled.

Evan slid Chance’s boxers down his legs and tossed them on the chair. He spread Chance’s legs and positioned himself in between his legs. “I’m gonna take my time with you,” Evan smiled. “I’ve missed tasting you.”

Chance closed his eyes as he bit his bottom lip.

“Open, Baby, remember, I wanna see those eyes and what my touch does to you,” Evan placed his fingers under Chance’s balls and lightly swirled them around. He grasped on to his balls and squeezed gently but firmly. He bent forward and ran his tongue between Chance’s balls and asshole. “Oh, I see you like that,” he smiled at Chance’s growing erection.

He moved his tongue around his balls and sucked one into his mouth, swirling it around with his tongue. He released it and sucked in the other one, swirling it around his mouth. Slowly, he licked and sucked by alternating on Chance’s balls.

  “Boss, please,” Chance begged.

“Patience, Baby,” Evan breathed as he moved his tongue up to his shaft. He ran his tongue along the veins in his shaft and licked around the head of his cock. He teased Chance by sticking his tongue in the hole and breathing in the head of his cock in his mouth, just slightly. He sucked the head, harder and harder. Just as he felt the release of Chance’s pre-release, he took his entire shaft in his mouth in one hard breath.

Evan sucked Chance’s cock, harder and faster. He knew Chance needed the release, but he wanted to savor his lover’s taste, so he slowed down.

  “Evan. Holy. Fuck.” Chance growled.

Evan looked up at Chance, as he rested himself on his elbows. He released himself from his shaft and licked his lips. He moved himself towards Chance’s face and pressed his mouth against his. His tongue danced with Chance’s as he ran his thumbs over Chance’s nipples. “I so want to be inside you, but I know I can’t.”

“You’re doing one hell of a job, Boss,” Chance reached down with one hand and grabbed Evan’s cock. “I need this in my mouth, Boss.” He squeezed, making Evan’s erection grow.

“Lie down flat, Baby,” he smiled. “And I’ll be your nine.”

“And for the record, Boss,” Chance smiled as he slowly lay down flat on the bed, tossing his pillow aside.

  “What’s that?”

“I don’t mind being the six,” he bit his lip.

Evan licked Chance’s lip and then sucked it into his mouth. “I want to suck every inch of you, Baby,” he kissed his cheek and then positioned himself over Chance’s face.

Chance sucked on Evan’s cock as he guided it into his mouth.

Evan sucked on Chance’s cock as he mouth fucked Chance. Evan moved fast and swiftly into Chance’s mouth and then groaned when Chance stuck his two fingers into Evan’s ass. “Oh, fucking god, Baby,” he breathed and then sucked harder on Chance’s cock. He felt his cock pulse and he sucked in hard as Chance released into his mouth and down his throat. He slowed his thrust and let Chance take control of his sucking.

Chance sucked harder as he rammed his fingers in Evan’s asshole. Evan exploded in Chance’s mouth as Chance removed his fingers from his ass.

Evan wearily lay next to Chance, on his good side and held him in his arms. “Wow, Baby, I was right. You are fucking amazing. We don’t need to fuck to feel good.”

“Boss, we don’t fuck, do we?” Chance looked up into Evan’s eyes as he ran his hands down Evan’s chest.

“No, Baby, we make love and this, was definitely making love,” Evan kissed his mouth. “You OK?”

  “Yeah, just tired,” Chance said.

“You rest and I’ll hold you,” Evan kissed the top of Chance’s head.

“I love you, Boss,” Chance whispered as he fell asleep.

“I love you, too, Baby,” Evan closed his eyes.

  27

Chance walked down the stairs and opened the front door, as Barney followed at his feet. “Let’s get some air, old man,” he smiled as he sat down on the chair on porch and Barney lay at his feet. He reached in the small refrigerator and smiled. “Yup, he stocked it before he left.”

  Barney barked.

“Yeah, I miss him, too, but at least the only babysitter I need now is you,” he smiled. “Hmm, I wonder whose car that is in Evan’s driveway.”

  Barney barked again.

“No, I’m not jealous, just curious,” he watched as the front door to Evan’ house opened and Evan followed two men out to the porch. He couldn’t see their faces, but he watched as one man kissed Evan’s cheek and the other man shook his hand. “Well, now I’m very curious.”

Evan watched as the two men walked out to the car and pulled out of the driveway. He turned to go in the house but then he stopped and turned around. He waved to Chance and then headed into the house.

“I wonder what that was about, Barney,” Chance said. “I couldn’t tell who they were and no, I’m not gonna run the plates. I’m not that nosey.”

Barney titled his head and then lay back down at his feet.

Chance sipped his beer and picked up his book off the table. “I’m not getting jealous,” he repeated, several times in an attempt to convince either himself or Barney. “Oh, fuck. Why am I so damn curious?” then he noticed that Evan’s front door opened again. He watched as Evan carried a suitcase out to his car and put it in his trunk. He closed the trunk and got into his car. Chance watched as Evan drove down the road.

“Oh, I guess he’s leaving town and I don’t fucking need to know about it,” Chance stood up and looked at Barney. “You go in the house. I need to go for a drive.”

Chance sat on the rock formation that overlooked his land. He looked back at his
plot and shook his head. “Too beautiful to build on,” he sighed. “Oh, fuck. Now I’m fucking talking to myself. First, it was the dog, now, I’m talking to fucking grass. He’s gone. That’s it,” Chance said. “He didn’t even say good bye. Well, he didn’t walk away. He just drove away, really fast.”

Evan pulled behind Chance’s SUV and got out. He noticed Chance sitting on the rocks behind the outlined plot. “Chance?”

Chance jumped slightly and turned around. “What are you doing here?”

“Looking for you,” he said. “I need to talk to you.”

“You’re leaving town and forgot to say goodbye?”

  “What? No?”

Chance held his side and stood up slowly. “You’re not leaving town? I saw you with the suitcase. Probably none of my business, but I thought we were something to each other.”

Evan sighed. “We are,” he sighed. “I love you. I think it’s time I shared with you.”

“What do you mean?” Chance said.

“There are a few things I’ve been keeping from you. Intentionally but not because I didn’t trust you but because I was ashamed.”

  Chance took his hands. “Ashamed?”

“Yes, Baby,” he sighed. “I’m not sure where to start. I was going to tell you, I just wanted you to be stronger.”

  “Stronger?”

“So, you could walk away from me, if you wanted to,” Evan said.

“Boss,” Chance took his hand as they sat down on the large rocks. “Do you want to talk here?”

“Yeah,” Evan smiled. “Here is fine. Can’t get much more private than this.”

“Nope, it’s completely out of the way from the rest of the plots.”

Evan looked in Chance’s eyes. “I mentioned I was a doctor before.”

“Yes, and that you keep up with your certifications but you don’t practice. Evan, take your time. I’m not going anywhere.”

Evan ran his hand nervously through his hair and stood up. “Well, I was a cardiac surgeon. When I went to Harvard, I had a double major of Law and Medicine. After I graduated from Law School summa cum laude, I went on to continue my studies in medicine so I could be a cardiac surgeon. Fred called me an overachiever, and I thought I had to be.”

“Why?” Chance continued to listen as Evan’s breathing slowed.

“I mentioned my father was a General in the Army?” he turned around and faced Chance.

“Yes, you said he wanted you to go in the Army.”

“Yes, but he was more pissed because I was gay,” Evan said.

  “Oh,” Chance said.

“Yeah,” Evan sighed. “I thought I could prove to my father that being gay had nothing to do with whether or not I was a success. Then, I realized that I didn’t need my father’s approval, but it took years. After I got a job at Chicago Memorial as a cardiac surgeon, I worked there for years, without any assistance or contact with my father or siblings. I wasn’t even working as a lawyer except when I volunteered once a month at Legal Aid. Then one day, my father showed up. Out of the blue.” He held his side, where his stab wound scar was and Chance knew the explanation was coming up. “When I told you an ex-lover stabbed me, I lied. I was too ashamed and not ready to tell you.”

  “Who really stabbed you?”

Evan sniffed to keep his composure. “My father said he wanted to talk to me and I went to his hotel room. When I walked in, there was a hooker, and at first, I thought she was for him, but she wasn’t.”

“Your father got you a hooker?”

“Yes, he wanted me to have sex with the hooker while he videotaped it. He thought, in his infinite wisdom,” he rolled his eyes as the sarcasm rolled off his tongue. “If I had sex with a woman, it would turn me. You know, make me straight.”

  “So, what happened?”

“I paid the woman and told her to leave,” Evan sighed. “Then, my father grabbed a knife off the dinner cart. He lunged at me and first stabbed me in the hand, and then when I tripped, he stood over me and stabbed me in the side. The knife went all the way through,” he said. “I grabbed a fork that had fallen to the floor during our struggle and stabbed him in the leg with it.”

  “Your hand?”

Evan held out his right hand. “It’s a good thing I’m a lefty, but a surgeon needs two hands to work. Plastic surgery does wonders on the hand, but the nerves were too damaged to repair. You can barely see the scars between my fingers. He made the injury worse when he ripped the knife out of my hand.”

Chance took Evan’s hand. “You are always so strong and brave. I can see why you thought you had to be ashamed because your own father did this to you, but you don’t have to with me.”

“Well,” Evan kissed his cheek. “That was part of it. I could never be a surgeon again, and I didn’t think I could just be a doctor. It just wasn’t for me without being a surgeon, so I went on to be a lawyer full time. I moved from Chicago to Manhattan.”

  “What happened to your father?”

“He was still an active General at the time. As I’m in the hospital recovering, some Admiral comes in to talk to me. They wanted to keep it quiet, you know, cover it up and make sure I didn’t press charges against my father. The army was still recovering from don’t ask don’t tell. And if word got out that a general tried to kill his son for being gay … scandal, big time.”

  “So, what happened?”

“They offered me money to keep quiet. I was already retiring from being a surgeon, so I knew I’d need some money. I was a lousy saver at the time. I splurged on material stuff and dates. Now, when I say dates, I mean one night dates, and sometimes they weren’t even good enough for sex. I have been tested, Baby, so you don’t need to worry about that. You were the first man I ever loved. I ever made love to.”

“I know,” Chance said. “I could see it in your eyes when you told me.”

“I mean it. I do love you.”

“I know you do. I feel it. I see it. So, they paid you to be quiet?”

“Yeah, gag order and all that. The Army offered me five hundred thousand dollars to keep quiet.”

“Tax payers are paying that to keep you quiet?”

“That’s what I thought, but I was told it was part of my father’s retirement package. He still can’t retire yet because he owes the Army for this payment. Every year, around this time, my two brothers come to wherever I am, and hand me a bag full of money. I then take it to the bank.”

  “So, that was the suitcase?”

“Yes,” he said. “I went to the bank. I don’t like that amount of cash at the house. To be honest, I haven’t spent a penny of it, but I would’ve for you.”

“That’s where Todd’s money was coming from?”

“Yes,” Evan said. “This was the last payment. I got fifty thousand dollars a year for the past 10 years.”

“Have you seen your father since?”

“Nope,” Evan said. “I know he limps because of the injury I gave him. He doesn’t live that far from here but no, I haven’t seen him. My brothers don’t mention him when they visit. They’re both in the service, too. Chad is an Army colonel and Dominick is a Major. My sister lives in California, so I never hear from her. Dominick is the only one who doesn’t care that I’m gay. You may have noticed, he kissed my cheek.”

“Yeah, I noticed that,” Chance sighed. “And the other one just shook your hand.”

“Yeah, that was Chad. He’s a dick but cordial,” Evan said. “Chance, I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you about this.”

Chance took Evan’s hand in his and kissed him. He gazed into his eyes. “How are you so strong?”

“I had no choice but to be strong,” Evan said.

“And here I was such a disappointment,” Chance said. “And what I went through was nothing compared to what you did.”

“No, don’t. We aren’t going to compare whose pain was worse than the other’s.” Evan took his hand and they both sat down on the rocks. “My biggest problem, Chance, is that I ke
ep things inside. I have learned over the years to gulp down my pain. It took me years to realize that I loved my father but I didn’t have to like him. I don’t like him. Not one bit. The truth is now, I don’t even love him. I don’t consider him my father. I don’t even really consider him anything.”

“What about your mother? You hardly ever mention her.”

Evan sighed heavily. “My mother died of Breast Cancer when I was 16,” he sighed. “My sister, Jolene, took care of me but when I was old enough, I was out of the house. I got a job and supported myself through college. I was lucky that I had a good job after graduation, so I paid off my student loans within three years. Now, I just have money that sits in the bank and collects interest. I don’t touch it. When I made partner, I started saving better. I guess I realized that it doesn’t last forever. Nothing does, well, that’s how I felt until I met you.”

“I’m sorry about your mother,” he put his arm around Evan.

“Thanks.” Evan got up and stood in front of Chance. He put his hands on his waist. “I want you right now.”

  “Here?” Chance smiled.

“Baby, I’ll just suck you, please, let me,” Evan looked into his eyes.

“Evan, wait a second,” Chance said.

  “You don’t want me?”

“I do, more than you know. More than I could ever explain.”

“Then why are you stopping me?” Evan sighed.

“Because, I want you, but I think you’re hurting,” Chance pulled him close and held him tightly. “You’re hurting and it’s my turn to take care of you.”

Evan looked in Chance’s eyes. “But I have to be the strong one,” he gulped.

“No, Boss, not today,” Chance kissed him softly on the mouth. “Not today.” He hugged him tightly again and held on to his lover for what seemed to be hours.

  28

Evan took Chance’s hand as they walked up the stairs to Evan’s bedroom. Evan walked over to the record player on the small table and placed the vinyl record album on the turntable. Cool Night by Paul Davis started to play as the needle gently pressed against the vinyl. Evan walked over to Chance, who was now sitting on the bed. He kneeled in front of him. “Baby, I love you. I don’t ever want to lose you.”
