Once Slim left Spook took up the interrogation of the bastards. He was playing the good guy while Beast very obviously was the bad guy. The pussies gave them everything. According to the ex they were only going to frighten her, nothing more. That story did not tie in with the duct tape, rope, several dildos and other shit in the bag.
Beast didn’t ask any questions. He had them all strung up on the rafters in the garage, hanging in a line, toes just touching the floor.
Without a word he waved Buzz forward.
Buzz took his cue from Beast, he didn’t say a word. Just started beating the shit out of the ex. His best friend, Ratel, took on the brother. The other men hung there terrified because they knew they were next. Beast didn’t let them wait too long.
They beat the shit out of all of them, left their phones and the contents of the bag scattered on the cement floor at their feet, the sex toys displayed prominently. They were so fucking stupid the ex had text messages between him and his brother planning this shit on his phone. A phone that wasn’t fucking password protected either. Jesus.
Beast looked at the crying, gasping, moaning line of pussies. They were going to regret tangling with the Iron Dogz for a long time to come.
“You keep your mouths shut about what happened here because you don’t want me to come back. Remember one thing, the Iron Dogz has a very long reach, no matter where you go we can and will find you.”
They left the garage door open with the lights on and shining brightly.
The last to leave was Buzz and only after he had thrown a big rock through the front window and set off the silent alarm. It would bring the security company out to investigate and they would call in the pigs when they found the fuckers strung up in the garage.
They met up with the others at the filling station and it was very obvious they were all fucking tired. After a quick chat they decided to find somewhere to rest for a few hours. But Beast did not want to stay in the piece of shit town and they rode to Nelspruit as it was only about 45 k’s away. They booked double rooms in a hotel and doubled up in the rooms. Buzz obviously sharing with Slim. Beast knew it would be stupid to leave their shit unattended outside so he set Terror to watch for the first hour. Army, Dollar, Bullet and Ratel would each take a turn on watch, that way they all got some rest. He warned them that it was a short rest stop only before they tackled the ride home and they would not be hanging around longer than was necessary.
Beast hadn’t slept but had lain on his bed staring at the ceiling until it was time to ride. He was too wound up after taking care of those fuckers at Slim’s house to sleep. He was grateful when the alarm he had set on his phone beeped. By the red eyes and huge yawns it was obvious they all could have used some more sleep but they were back on the road a little over five hours after they had pulled into the hotel.
The ride home went without any incidents. They rolled through the gates of the compound at 11.00am. Tired and fucking glad to be home. It had sucked ass to stay with the cages but it had to be done, they couldn’t leave Slim and Terror vulnerable.
Beast left the others to take care of Slim and went inside to report to his prez.
“You take care of her problem?”
“We did. She was fucking lucky we got there when we did. Those bastards were trying to break into her house when we got there and they had some fucked up plans for her. We dealt out some justice, left them tied up with the evidence of their plans and set the local pigs on them. I gave them the usual warning, it they know what’s good for them we won’t be seeing them again.”
“Good. You look like shit, brother, go home, get some rest and we’ll talk more tomorrow.”
Beast walked out and through the common room, his eyes meeting Chris’s sad eyes before he looked away and tiredly walked out. He did not want to think about that shit right now, shaking it off he got on his bike and went home. A long hot shower and some sleep was what he needed before fetching his babies. As he took the stairs two at a time up to his room he called Aunt Suzy to let her know he was home.
“Hi Aunt Suzy, I just got home. I’m going to shower and sleep for an hour or so and then I’ll come and get my girls.”
“Don’t be silly, shower, get some sleep and be here by six for dinner. The kids are playing in the garden and they are having a great time. Leave them and get some rest. I don’t want to see you until six.”
Beast was about the answer when he realised she had ended the call. He grinned, so typical of Ice’s mum, she took no shit from any of them. And he was grateful for the chance to rest, he wasn’t in his twenties anymore and could no longer function on almost no sleep. These days he needed to sleep or he felt like shit. Like he did right now.
After his shower Beast crashed. He slept soundly for the first time in a damned long time.
When he woke he felt a hell of a lot better but he missed his girls. He had become used to having them close.
It was time to go have dinner then bring them home.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
DC
I was sitting on the clubhouse steps sipping my coffee and waiting for Beast when he pulled into the compound. With his Iron Dogz beanie pulled over his shaved short hair and his black skull bandanna over his mouth and wraparound dark sunglasses hiding his eyes he looked damned intimidating. The man was huge, monstrously huge. Okay, maybe not monstrously, but he was super big. Bigger than any of the other guys in the club. He had a wide chest, huge shoulders and heavily muscled arms and the thickest thighs and calves I had ever seen. They were even bigger than Shaka’s and I had always thought he was the biggest man I had ever seen. That was until I met Beast.
He had to be at least six foot seven or close to it. And unlike Shaka he did not pretend to be friendly, but maybe with Shaka that was just Nadja’s influence. Shaka loved his wife and smiled a lot because of her. Beast was exactly what his road name said, a beast. He was dangerous, rude, short tempered and hardly ever spoke, and then only to his brothers and sometimes to Chris. And I had noticed that he had stopped talking to her after ending whatever it was they had been involved in. It hadn’t been a relationship, not at all, but he had given her more attention than any of the other club girls. Now he ignored all of them.
I watched as he walked over and was once again amazed that such a big man could move so gracefully and quietly.
“Morning, Beast. I’ve been waiting for you. Can we talk about the job I want you to do for me?”
He frowned as if trying to remember, and then nodded as he sank down next to me. “Sure. What can I do for you?”
“I’ll show you. Come with me.”
I led him over to the garage that was now clean and painted waiting for the electrician, ceiling installers and door guys to do their thing today.
“What are you going to do in here, DC?” Beast asked with a frown as he looked around the empty space.
“I want you to build me a ballet barre. I want it along the side wall here and I think maybe halfway across the back wall. That should give me more than enough space to work out. I’ve googled the specs and I can forward it to you or you can google it yourself. I don’t know which materials you want to use but I saw online that you could use pine, maple or oak for the wooden piece. I’ll leave the choice up to you.” I saw he was about to say something but I didn’t give him a chance.
“I have an electrician and the ceiling guys coming in today to install the ceiling and light fittings and I’m having the roller shutter doors removed and wood and glass sliders installed that can be folded back to open up the space to the outside if I want. A specialist flooring guy is going to start installing the floor on Thursday, I thought they could do it in a day but he said they needed two. So I have the mirror people coming Saturday morning to install the mirrors on the walls. Do you think you could have the ballet barre ready by Monday or do you need more time?”
Beast looked confused as he once again looked around the space. “You’re building a ballet studio. Why?”

; Oh shit. I didn’t think he would know anything about ballet. He was so rough that I just assumed he wouldn’t know. So I lied a little bit.
“It’s like a ballet studio but it’s for my work outs. I have a studio similar to what I’m planning here at the Road Warriors compound. I can arrange for you to see it if you want.”
He shook his head. “No, that won’t be necessary. I know what you want. I’ll hit up some of my suppliers and see what I can find then get back to you. It’s an easy job but you might have to wait with the mirrors until I’ve installed the anchors for the barre. I’ll have to drill into the wall to secure the anchors for the barre. The people who install the mirrors can easily cut the mirrors to fit around the anchors before I do the final installation. Do you want supports to the floor or do you want the barre to be secured only to the wall? A traditional ballet barre has supports and I think you should go the same route.”
Shit, I didn’t know. But I had seen dancers working out at the barre and I knew it had to be able to take some weight.
“It will have to take some weight so what do you suggest?”
“We add the supports just to be safe. It shouldn’t fuck up your floor but I’ll come and talk to the floor guys when they get here and get their opinion.”
“You’re a life saver. I didn’t think about any of this stuff. Grizz and my dad had the studio built at their compound as a surprise for me so I have no idea what planning went into it. I should have called Grizz to pick his brain.”
“No worries, DC, I’ve got this. I’ll get on it as soon as I’ve spoken to Prez to see what he has for me today. Okay?”
I grinned wide. “Perfect. Thanks Beast, send me your details and I’ll transfer some money to get you started.”
“Not asking you for money, DC. This is club property so it’s club money, no problems.” Beast growled as he turned and walked out without another word.
I watched him as he walked away. He had not been happy about something, I wasn’t sure what it was but something about the studio upset him. And that was weird.
Shaking it off I made my way back inside. It was time to torture Tori. I grinned as I ran up the stairs to start her physical therapy. She was making amazing progress and soon we’ll be able to use the studio to help with her recovery.
If I played my cards right she won’t be going back to Cape Town. I didn’t trust the old bitch. Not at all.
Tori
I lay panting on the yoga mat on the floor next to DC. I was worn out and a wet sweaty mess. We had worked through the physical therapy and continued straight into strength training. I breathed through the aches in my body. We were almost done for the morning but my torturer would be back tonight to help and spot me as I worked through a very easy and basic routine to bring my body back into dancing shape.
Working through the cool down routine I sighed with relief when we were done at last. I was dripping with sweat and breathing hard. Three years ago these exercises would have been as nothing to me. I had been supremely fit before the accident and according to the specialists it had helped with my recovery. It definitely didn’t feel like it. My belly was getting soft and my ass was bigger than it has ever been.
DC didn’t allow me to fall into my memories, not for a minute.
“You need to shower and then I’ll give you a massage. You worked really hard today and if we don’t massage those muscles they are going to ache like a son of a bitch.”
I threw her a mock angry look. “As you should, my poor muscles are in pain and screaming out for a massage.”
She ignored me. “I’m going to my room to shower.” Then she gave a very bad Arnie impersonation. “I’ll be back.”
I rolled my eyes at her as she laughed and left.
She was waiting when I walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a bath sheet. She had the bed covered with towels to stop the oil from getting on the bedding. I lay down on my belly and sighed. DC’s massages were amazing, and her hands were strong and sure.
Thirty minutes later I oozed over the bed like an over cooked noodle. My muscles were totally relaxed and I was pleasantly drowsy. Until she slapped my butt, hard.
“Ow! What was that for?” I griped as I grabbed the towel, slid off the bed and wrapped it around me.
“I have some good news for you. Are you awake enough to listen?”
That got my attention immediately. “What news?”
She grinned. “Hawk gave his okay for us to visit with River. Kid, Sam and I are going to sneak you out a little bit later when everyone is at work or busy with whatever. Hawk moved the guards at Ice’s house away from the house so we will be able to sit outside for a bit.”
I started bouncing on my toes with excitement. “Oh dearest virgin queen, I’m going to be outside! I can’t wait to breathe in some fresh air and to feel the wind in my hair. Please tell me there’s a breeze outside today.”
DC laughed. “There’s a breeze. I have some shit I have to take care of but I’ll be back to get you ready for the visit. We won’t be able to stay too long because we have to sneak you back inside without anyone noticing. But River said she has a plan on how to draw all the attention to the front of the clubhouse while we sneak you in the back.”
Time ticked by too damned slowly. I tried watching a movie, read, played solitaire, chatted to Sam to get the time to run faster. I was so excited about at last being allowed outside after weeks of being cooped up inside the room that I felt like I was going to explode.
And then it was time. I shrugged into the big black hoodie Kid held out and pulled the hood up and over my head. The hoodie was so big it hung below my knees and the sleeves hung way past my hands. The hood fell down over my forehead to the tip of my nose. I would have to keep my head down and watch my feet as I walked because with the hood over my eyes I couldn’t see anything in front of me. But that seemed to be the plan. I was covered from head to toe and if I was seen it would be hard to recognise me.
Sam went down the passage first making sure it was safe to leave my room. We followed shortly after. Kid in front of me and DC behind me. They made hardly any sound as we descended a small staircase at the far end of the passage, and Sam was waiting at a door at the bottom. At Kid’s nod he opened the door, stepped through and when his beckoning hand appeared around the door jamb we followed.
Thank the pope I could bend my knee with only a faint ache because I had to curl up on the floorboards in the back with a black blanket thrown over my body. It was freaking uncomfortable but I was getting out of my room for a few hours and could handle anything for some fresh air.
We drove through the gates without slowing because the guards obviously knew who was in the SUV and where they were going.
The drive wasn’t that long and Sam took it easy but he didn’t dawdle either. We went through what sounded like another gate and this time Sam slowed and stopped to speak to whoever was at the gate. The guard who greeted Kid and DC sounded friendly and relaxed as he let them through. Sam slowly drove down what had to be the drive down to River’s house.
The blanket was suddenly pulled off me and DC grinned down at me.
“Sit up and park your butt on the seat. The guards out there have been moved further away, so no worries about you being seen.”
I didn’t hesitate. I hopped up and parked my butt on the seat. Looking out the window I stared in awe at the beautiful garden we were slowly driving through. Big trees, big shrubs and colourful flower beds sprinkled in between. I opened my window and dragged the smell of green growing things into my lungs. It felt as if I hadn’t breathed properly in ages.
The house we pulled up in front of was gorgeous. It had a high thatched roof and River was waiting for us on the front steps. I hopped out of the SUV the minute we came to a stop.
“Welcome.” River smiled. “Come inside, I’ve got tea and some yummy stuff set up on the back deck. I thought it would be nicer outside than sitting inside. You’ve spent so much time cooped up in that room I’m sure yo
u’ll be glad for some fresh air and sunshine.”
I grinned as she slipped her arm through mine. “I can’t wait to sit outside and just breathe in the goodness. I’ve missed being able to walk out my door and into the garden. I’m not even allowed to peek out the windows at the club because they are worried someone will see me. I look like a spy the way I sneak little peeks when Sam’s not watching.”
DC and River laughed but I was being serious. I did look like a spy and I have been spying. I saw him outside with some other guys, drinking coffee and chatting. I would have recognised him anywhere by the way he held himself and the way he moved. What I would not have recognised was his face. It was covered by a thick long wild black beard. If you dressed him in a plaid shirt he would look like one of those lumberjack romance book covers.
And the one day he had almost caught me watching. If Sam hadn’t pulled me away from the window he would have seen me because he had tipped his head towards the window as I moved away.
Shit.
Shaking my head to dislodge those thoughts I tuned back in to DC and River’s chat. They were talking about cars. I didn’t know anything about cars but I did like pretty ones. And I’ve always wanted one of those old Mustangs with the big growly engines. Ilya used to tease me about me wanting a car I wouldn’t even be able to drive. Yes, sadly, I didn’t have a drivers licence. I never needed one until I came back to South Africa. I do have my learners licence now though and had been taking driving lessons when shit hit the fan in Cape Town.
Damn. I hope I could continue with those lessons once this mess has been sorted. Having my own car would make travelling so much easier. I had plans to do a road trip around South Africa to see places I had only read about and seen photographs of, and had on my bucket list. It was time to start ticking items off that list.
Tomorrow wasn’t promised to any of us. We had to live while we still had life pulsing through our veins.
