I smiled hugely at him even as tears rolled down my face.
Stepping closer, he wiped my tears away. “I don’t care about any of it. I care about us. You. Just believe me. I am going to do everything I can to make sure you know that you’re mine.”
Okay, I now have to believe him. I gotta live with the fact that he may just be nuts, but who the hell cares? I mean just look at him for Pete’s sake! Hot and fifty shades of magnificent! “So, what do we do now?”
Tucker stepped back and knelt at my feet.
My gaze dropped down to him.
He grabbed the hem of my dress and hiked it up along my body until he stood and pulled it from me.
“Oh!” I gasped out as the air hit my bare skin.
Dropping it to the floor, he stood back to look me over.
My cheeks flamed and I raised my arms up to cover my breasts.
He stepped close and tugged my hands down. “NO. Don’t hide those beauties from me.” He looked fierce as he reached out and grabbed one in each hand, squeezing. “Perfect…” He let out a groan. “Sweet peaches and cream.”
I trembled as my juices were flowing again. The way he looked at me, his eyes, his voice and that sexy groaning! Well, if he could get past it, then so could I.
He let go of my peaches and released a frustrated breath. “Dammit!”
“What?” I felt a little panic. Maybe he was turned off even though he thought he wouldn’t be.
“I wanted to do this right.” He shook his head.
“Oh…” I let out a relieved breath and chuckled. “Well, I don’t know. I think you were doing just perfectly.”
He gave me a slight smile. “No. I wanted to…date you. Treat you right. Not jump on you again!”
“Well, what good is a doll, if you can’t play with her?” I now gave him a flirty wink.
Tucker laughed and stepped forward to scoop me up. “Okay, but after I get some more peaches and cream, I will make it up to you by taking you to Paris or something, okay?”
I looped my arms around his neck, not believing how lucky I finally was. “Alright…” I sighed with fake drama. “If you just have to drag me there.” I rolled my eyes like it was a sacrifice. “I mean I had a date with Crazy Sally and a cardboard apartment all set up. But I guess I’ll have to accept Paris as a consolation prize.”
Our laughter rang out as he carried me into the penthouse.

CHAPTER ONE
Jenna Hawkins
Maxwell Industries! I got the job! After 3 interviews and one where I thought I fucked it up, I still got it. Executive Assistant to Jake Maxwell himself. I knew very little about him and hoped he at least, wouldn’t be old and stuffy. Like even if he were old, maybe he would be nice and have a great sense of humor. The salary was a plus, better than I’d made at any of my former jobs.
Today would be my first day. I hope I don’t screw up. I’ve dressed in a neat pencil skirt knee length and a nice white blouse. Low heels and my hair in a bun. I didn’t want to look too sexy and appear like I’m trying to be seductive.
I don’t know how to act too sexy really. I have some experience with guys, but they were college guys and wanted up and into my skirt. I vowed that it would have to be someone spectacular that would make it all the way with me. So far, no one has been even a spark over great.
I promised my mom I would only give it away to someone special, someone that makes my heart skidder as she called it. Also most guys are so predictable and some of them so lame, that even at 24, I am still a virgin. I feel okay about it, even though it really isn’t normal. I feel like it’s the right thing and that I have plenty of time and won’t just throw it away or waste it on a lame experience where I will always think of it as a mistake.
Don’t get me wrong. I have my toys in my nightstand next to my bed. I even watch porn sometimes. I’m not sexless, I just don’t have sex.
Excited, I dab on a bit of concealer then just lip gloss and eyeliner. I don’t want to appear like a made up Barbie with too much color on my face. I want be respected. I know I will have to earn that and I fully intend to. I know how offices are, businesses. How some women climb the ladder by climbing up on a desk and doing the boss. Nope. I wouldn’t do that.
Grabbing my keys, phone and briefcase, I set off to work. At—MAXWELLL INDUSTRIES! Can you tell I’m excited? I’m just bursting with it.
After the short drive, as luckily, I live only a few blocks away, I enter the lobby. It is impressive. I admit it nearly made me speechless when I came here for my first interview. Marble floors, all brass and glass.
I proudly flash my badge at the security desk.
The security guard winks at me, grabs it and slides it across the digital bar coder. “There you go, Ms. Hawkins, welcome to Maxwell.” He hands me my card back.
Clipping it to my blouse, I grin at him. “Thank you umm…” I read his nametag. “…Bert.”
I turn and head for the elevator.
The doors opens and there stood a man…I gasp. Well, maybe a god?
Tall, broad shouldered and an easy smile. And muscled to walls of muscle!
He steps aside to allow me in.
I get in and stare at the button panel, suddenly my marching on to the new job anthem fades away and I’m wondering who this man is.
“What floor?” he asks.
Oh, that voice, it is like liquid heat. I gulp and answer, “The top?”
He chuckles and hits the 12th floor button. “You don’t sound sure,” he teases.
I suck in a breath. Do not turn and look. I bet his smile is panty melting. My head starts turning. NO! But it’s too late.
His smile is dazzling. The kind that makes your knees weak.
SEE! You looked you dumbass. You cannot get the hots for some guy that maybe works here.
“So,” he speaks again in that hot, honey coated smooth as silk voice. “Are you new here?”
I nod.
“Really? First day?”
I again, nod. My vocal chords decide not to work cause this man’s scent just entered my space and delicious is the first word that floats through my dazed mind.
“Shy are you?” he says in a low tone.
I bite at my lip and feel determined to prove otherwise. “Umm, no. But you know how first day jitters are.”
He laughs.
Oh now, I have to turn my head and stare. His laugh is so rich and like makes my skin rise up with goosebumps.
Buzz cut blond and dancing blue eyes.
I stare and hope drool isn’t forming at the sides of my lips.
“If you’re working on the top floor, you got old man Maxwell. He is such an ass.”
I keep my mouth shut. Not going there. No opinions or office gossip, second rule of professionalism, after the no co-worker affair rule.
“So, you must be the new EA?” he asks after a moment of silence from me.
There, he already guessed it and I’d better keep in line here since it’s obvious he already doesn’t like my new boss. “Umm, yes.”
“Mmm…” He leans in close.
Oh, My God! His scent is so…Whew, it is hot in this elevator!
“Well, he’s gone through many assistants. You just have to have thick skin.”
My gut clenches and I’m not sure if it is because of the heat coming off this sexy wall of muscle or if it’s because of what he is telling me. “H-he’s mean?” I ask in a small voice.
Silence from behind me.
I turn to look.
He isn’t smiling anymore. “I was just teasing. I’m sorry if I upset you.”
I nod. Not really coming up with any kind of pithy reply or any reply as I turn my head forward again. Looking into this guy’s cobalt eyes would be a very bad idea.
“My name is Trevor, and if you need any help, like being new and not knowing like where the copy room is…I will be your guide.
”
I blink as I stare at the floor numbers going by. So he does work here. Damn. No office flings. Too bad, as he is yummy. Not that I would have a fling, but this would be the first time it EVER crossed my mind. I wonder why? I roll my eyes at the dumb question and smile. “Well, thank you Trevor.”
DING!
I jump a little at the sound and I’m not sure if I feel relief or disappointment that the ride with sexy honey voice is over.
He steps out and takes a step back to look at me.
Oh, man. I know my cheeks are flaming.
“Damn,” he mutters under his breath. He nods and strolls away.
I try to compose myself, as I do believe the look he just gave me made my panties wet. No…not on my first day. I mean why would I pack a second pair in my briefcase? I didn’t and I now hope I don’t see him too soon. I get out and look around. HUGE. That is the word, monstrously huge. The offices go on forever. I’d never been here as I interviewed on a different floor.
“Hey!” a woman calls to me.
I walk over and smile.
“I’m Dottie.” She smiles back, an older woman with brown hair and a heart shaped face. “I will be your coordinator. Jenna Hawkins, correct?”
I nod, still feeling nervous as hell so I keep a smile plastered on my lips.
“Okay, well follow me.” She turns and walks down a long wide hall.
We go by at least twenty offices.
Finally, we arrive at a wide open space.
“Here is your desk,” she announces.
I stare.
The whole area is so large. Plants everywhere. All elegantly furnished. My desk is also large and classy. “Wow,” I let it slip out.
Dottie chuckles. “Yes, it’s very nice. Mr. Maxwell insists on only the best.”
I move forward and set my briefcase on the desk.
“So, in a few minutes, I will give you the tour then this afternoon, you can meet Mr. Maxwell.”
“Okay.”
“I will be back.” She waves and heads back down the large hall.
I’m stunned. I just stare around and smile like a dummy.
“Hello.”
I turn at the voice. Then for the second time today, I lose my breath.
Another striking male. Dark hair, emerald eyes, and a sweet smile.
He grins. “So, you are the new EA?”
I nod.
He shakes his head. “Oh, man. Old man Maxwell isn’t going to…” He stops speaking. “I’m Micah.” He extends his hand.
I know better than to touch him. The man is so dammed cute and I know his hand will be warm and somehow comforting. I reach out and clasp his hand.
His eyes widen a bit as a shock sparks us both. He laughs and drops my hand. “These carpets.”
I shiver a little and nod. Yeah, the carpets, not that hot skin from your strong hand. Where are they getting these men? Is there something in the water coolers here? Like is it a requirement to be a hot male to work here or something?
“Hello?” He waves his hand in my face to get my attention.
I blink and let out a giggle. Stupid, looking like a dork again. “Uh yeah, I’m—”
“Jenna Hawkins,” he finishes for me.
My eyes widen. He knows my name?
“It’s there on your badge.” He motions to my blouse.
“Oh…” I gaze around. Again, I am attempting to NOT look at yet another hot guy. This is painful. I mean when have I seen men like this, or had a chance to? And now because they work where I do, I have to avoid looking? So unfair.
“Well, if you need any help. My office is just a few doors down the hall, okay?” His beautiful eyes try to lock with mine.
I am snared by them they are like emeralds, they really are. I smile. “Okay.”
He turns then stops to look at me. “And if old man Maxwell gives you a hard time, just ignore it, okay? His bark is worse than his bite.” He gives me a green eyed wink and heads down the hall.
I stare at his back and those long legs. His stride is so confident, yet graceful. The man could be on billboards, or doing underwear ads. I shake my head. I wonder what he looks like in JUST underwear? STOP! You are actually staring and fantasizing him with no clothes on!
I turn to my desk and again, have to compose myself. Old man Maxwell giving me a hard time? This is the second time it has been said that he is tough. I let out a sigh. It might be harder than I thought to win his respect.
I go around the desk and sit in the seat. Oh, wow. The chair is one of those Lumbar friendly perfect chairs. Well, at least the eye candy as in Micah and Trevor is appealing and this chair rocks! Maybe it won’t be all that bad?
I get up and explore the file cabinets. There are super comfy chairs for people to sit in as they wait to see old man Maxwell. I shake my head. You need to not think or say that. It is Mr. Maxwell and at least he is old, cause another hot man is the last thing I need. There are already two that will so distract me every time they come around, which will be often I hope with dear hope. I giggle again. I may not be able to touch but who would want to miss the eye candy strutting around?
“Alrighty then…” Dottie walks up and pulls me from my mental wandering through eye candy land. “Let’s take the tour of the areas you will need to be in.”
I beam at her and try again, to force confidence to the surface. “Yes, ma’am.” And I follow her out.
