“A girl needs her food,” Piper said out loud. And boy, did she love food.

Grabbing her jacket from off the hook, she headed out the door in search of dinner. It had been a few days since she’s been to The Bayou Bar, so Piper took a left outside of her house and walked the six blocks north.

If she was lucky, maybe Aidan would be working today. Piper had met him a few years back. His twin brother, Rayden, was also a Detective in the same department as her. And ever since their first meeting, Piper’d had the hugest crush on him. Standing at almost six feet tall, with dark chestnut hair, and the clearest blue eyes she had ever seen, Aidan Wright was her dream guy.

Talk about sex on a stick. That man is the whole fuckin’ platter.

The only problem, he wasn’t interested in her. At least not in a ‘let’s rip each other’s clothes off and bang like rabbits’ kind of way. He looked out for her when she was at the bar and they were friends, but other than that — nothing.

Always falling for the ones you can’t have...

“Story of my life,” Piper mumbled, as she rounded the corner and pulled open the door to The Bayou Bar.

  Chapter Two

  Aidan

The night had been crazy. So far, he’d had to bounce two rowdy drunks out the door, had a chick stumble into a table and send glasses shattering to the floor, and a toilet overflow in the women’s bathroom. It was nights like this when he wondered why in the hell he ever though opening a bar would be a good idea.

“Need two Crown and Cokes, a Bud Light Draft, and a Margarita on the rocks,” Lisa hollered over the crowd.

  “Comin’ up!” Aidan replied.

“Oh, and apparently a Black Russian,” Lisa added.

  A Black Russian?

Aidan turned around to look at Lisa to make sure he had heard her correctly. There was only one person who came into his bar and ordered that drink.

Lisa jerked her head towards the door.

And there, making her way through the crowd and towards the bar, was the woman who took up too much space in his head.

  Piper.

It had been a few days since he’d seen her. It had been four. Four, long ass days. She was normally in here every night after she got off work. Aidan didn’t think the woman had a life outside of the job, not that he was complaining. For years, he had been secretly in love with her, but he’d never tell her that. Girls like Piper didn’t date guys like him. Girls like her dated the model types, not average guys like him — shaggy hair, beard, non-existent abs and way too many secrets. There were things about himself that he would never be able to tell a woman. And a woman like Piper would demand answers. How would he explain his disappearance for a few days, every once in a while? Or the mysterious phone calls he sometimes got in the middle of the night? Yeah, not likely to ever win him relationship points.

As she approached, Aidan turned away. Busying himself with Lisa’s order, he quickly got the drinks ready for her tables and passed them to her tray. Then wordlessly, he made Piper’s drink, sliding it across the bar as she took the empty seat in front of him.

  “Hey, Aidan,” Piper smiled.

  “Hey,” he replied.

“How’s it been going?” she asked.

  “Busy as hell.”

“I can see that. There’s a lot of people in here tonight.”

“Championship game. Seems everyone is all over that shit this year,” Aidan replied, as a loud cheer and several groans could be heard over the sound of the music throughout the bar.

“Ah,” Piper nodded. “Yeah, that’s not my thing.”

“What is your thing, Piper?” Was that a flirty tone in his voice? Shit!

“Hmmm. Guns, bikes, and sex,” Piper deadpanned. “But not at the same time. I’m kinky, but not that kinky.”

  Was she flirting?

For a minute, Aidan just looked at her. Surprise was really the only thing he could register in his head.

Piper Kimber was flirting with him!

Finally letting loose a laugh, Aidan shook his head. “Yeah, I can see where all three at the same time would be a problem.”

  “Definitely,” Piper grinned.

Aidan was about to reply when another customer called him to the other end of the bar.

“I’ll be right back,” Aidan smiled.

“Take your time. You have a job to do,” Piper replied.

Out of the corner of his eye, he watched her stand and make her way over to the grill. One of the best things he ever did was add that little gem to the back side of the bar. It almost tripled his revenue and was one of the main reasons Piper came into the place. His brother had said that Piper was a workaholic and rarely stopped until she was finished with a case. So, in a way, the grill helped to ensure that Piper ate, at least once a day.

Gotta make sure my girl eats. Aidan smiled to himself. Piper Kimber may never be his girl in real life, but in his head – that beauty was all his.

  Yep! I’ve lost my mind.

Shaking his head, he hollered over to Jason, his bartender, to let him know he would be in his office as he watched Lisa zip around the bar.

The place was definitely packed tonight. College football was a big thing in Texas. Everyone had their favorite teams and sometimes it got pretty wild. Fights broke out, especially if Texas A&M and the Longhorns played against each other. The day A&M changed conferences, was a great day. Aidan had almost cheered out loud. No more rivalry fights, no more broken chairs or beer bottles. And most importantly, no more cops showing up and carrying people off to jail. That was never good for business. Nobody wanted cops slapping cuffs on their customers.

Aidan made his way back to his office and spent the rest of the night inputting employee times for payroll and paying bills. He needed to call a vendor about an issue with an alcohol order, but that would have to wait until morning. Jotting down a quick note to himself as a reminder, he stuck it to the side of his computer screen. Without sticky notes, he’d be lost. Aidan truly had the memory of a gnat.

  * * *

Busying himself with more paperwork, the rest of the night seemed to fly by quickly. Before he knew it, he could hear Jason hollering last call. These were the nights he loved, they seemed to just flow. Pushing away from his desk, he left his office and walked the short hallway that led back to the bar. Looking around to see who was still there, he spotted Piper sitting at a table in the dark corner, still near the grill. She was staring at her phone with a lost look on her face.

For the next hour, Aidan helped Jason to fill last request drink orders and clean up behind the bar. As he was putting away the last glass, he heard Lisa and Jason holler their goodbyes to Piper as they both made their way out the front door.

“Planning to stay the night, Piper?” Aidan asked.

“No,” Piper replied. “Waiting for one of my sisters to come get me.”

Waiting for one of her sisters?

Aidan walked over to where Piper was sitting and realized why she hadn’t moved. Piper was drunk.

“Too much to drink?” Aidan asked. She should have been cut off a while ago. He would have to remember to talk to Jason about this tomorrow.

“Yeah, just a tad,” Piper replied, holding her thumb and index finger an inch apart. “Those last couple of drinks were stouter than I thought.”

  “C’mon, let’s get you home.”

Aidan reached out and caught her arm as she started to stand but swayed on her feet. He would absolutely be talking to Jason and Lisa tomorrow afternoon. Nobody should ever leave his bar this drunk. Ever. And there was no way Piper could drive home.

“Whoa!” He helped steady her on her feet. “You good?”

  “Yuppp,” Piper slurred.

“Alright,” he said, keeping his hand on her arm. “Let’s go.”

Aidan and Piper walked out of the bar, stopping only long enough for him to lock the doors and pull the gate closed, locking it too. Walking to his car, he held open the door for Piper to climb in, clo
sing it after she adjusted the bucket seat.

Walking around, he climbed in and fired it up. Glancing over about to ask where exactly she lived, Aidan grinned at the sleeping beauty next to him.

“Looks like you’ll be going to my house then,” he said out loud.

Pulling out of his spot, he made the half-hour journey home.

The quiet stillness was soothing to his soul after a night of loud music and even louder customers.

Parking in his drive, he looked over and with the lights from the porch, he could see Piper’s face clearly. She was stunning — even if she was ten sheets to the wind.

Turning off the car, he quickly exited and pulled the passenger side door open. “Piper?” he tried to wake her. “Piper,” he said a little louder, but she didn’t budge. The only sound was the soft snoring that Aidan found so damn cute on the drive home.

Gathering her in his arms, he hip-checked the door and took the small stoned path to the front porch.

Getting into the house proved to be a little difficult, but he managed to get the key in the knob and twist it open without dropping Piper. Kicking the front door closed, he cast himself in complete darkness. For the first time, Aidan cursed himself for not leaving a light on somewhere in the house. But it wasn’t like he knew he’d be bringing a girl home — and especially not Piper. Never in a million years did he think that Piper Kimber, the woman he was pretty sure he had been in love with since the moment he first met her, would ever be in his home.

Walking down the hallway, he pushed open his bedroom door and within a few minutes he had Piper situated in his bed.

Not how I ever imagined it. That’s for damn sure.

Pulling off her shoes, followed by her socks, he placed them in the chair in the corner of the room and pulled the covers up to her chin. Placing a single kiss on her forehead, Aidan smiled when she moaned in her sleep.

“Thank you, Aidan,” she mumbled. “I love…”

Aidan froze. The air stopped moving in his lungs.

  What?

What do you love? Wake the fuck up!

Aidan wanted to shake her. Wanted her to finish what she was going to say. Would it be that she loved him?

Wishful thinking. She doesn’t even know you, dumbass.

“Aidan, come to bed,” Piper said in the darkness of the room.

With his eyes adjusted to the darkness, Aidan watched in disbelief as Piper moved to the other side of the bed and threw the covers back.

“Pi..” her name got caught in his suddenly dry throat. Coughing, he tried again. “Piper?” he questioned.

“Aidan, do not make me sleep in this bed alone.”

It had to be the alcohol talking. There was no other reason he could think of for the change in Piper’s behavior. She had never given him any reason to think she was into him. None.

If Aidan thought his mouth was dry before, he was wrong.

Aidan stood transfixed as Piper’s hands went to the waist of her tight jeans. He watched, afraid to even blink as she popped open the button and slowly lowered the zipper. The sound seemed to vibrate through the room. Mesmerized, Aidan looked on as she shimmied out of them and pulled them completely from her tanned legs, tossing them over the side of the bed.

  Holy shit! No panties?

Aidan thought he would faint. Flopping down on the edge of the bed, he continued to stare as Piper removed her shirt and bra. Laying there in his bed was a totally naked Piper. Every erotic dream he ever had about her played through his head in fast forward. So fast, it was making him dizzy.

“Aidan, get undressed and come here,” Piper purred, her hand lightly grazing his arm.

“Piper, you’re drunk,” Aidan replied, quickly standing and taking a few steps away from his bed.

  You’re a fucking idiot, dude!

He cursed himself for the second time that night.

“Drunk or not, I don’t want to sleep alone,” Piper answered.

With a sigh, Aidan took two steps back towards the bed. Standing there looking down at the woman of his dreams, he slowly removed all his clothes, with the exception of his boxers. He had to have something between him and her or there would be no way he could stop himself from finally slipping inside of her.

Climbing into bed, he pulled the blanket over them both and immediately felt Piper shift in the bed and slide up next to him.

“Piper,” Aidan grumbled. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought.

“What?” Piper asked innocently. Aidan knew that voice. Piper was a lot of things — innocent was not one of them.

  “You know what,” Aidan replied.

  “Oh, come on, Aidan.”

He felt the heat from her hand before it even landed on his stomach, but he still wasn’t prepared for the shot of electricity that went straight to his dick.

Think about something different... Puppies, car crashes, grandma!

Nothing was working. From a single touch, Aidan’s dick was rock hard.

Piper started to move her hand farther down, over his belly button, and began to toy with the band of his boxers.

“Aidan, please,” Piper begged. “I’m horny.”

  Fucking hell!

What was he going to do with her?

  Fuck her!

He couldn’t. There was no way he would have sex with any woman when she was drunk. It was a hard rule for him. Something he had never broken.

The tip of Piper’s fingers wiggled under the elastic band. Aidan reached down and grabbed her hand, bringing it to rest on his chest.

“Piper, I’m sorry,” Aidan sighed. “But I can’t.”

“Why not?” Piper asked. “I know you want me.”

“Of course, I want you,” Aidan admitted. “But you’re drunk. And I don’t have sex with drunk women.”

“Aidan, I am not drunk,” Piper countered. “Actually, I’ve sobered up quite a bit since leaving the bar.”

Aidan sighed deep in his chest. He wanted her, there was no question about that. So many times, he had wished she was right here, lying in bed next to him. So many times, he had wished...

“Whoa!” Aidan exclaimed. “What are you doing?”

He had never seen anyone move so fast. One second she was cuddled up to his side, the next she was straddling his hips. He could feel the heat of her pussy against his dick. Just when he thought it couldn’t possibly get any harder, he was proven wrong.

“Aidan, look at me,” Piper demanded. “Do I still look drunk to you?”

Aidan looked closely. He searched her eyes. With a frustrated breath, Aidan grabbed the back of Piper’s head and brought her mouth down to his. The kiss seemed to go directly to his soul, throwing fire through his veins.

Turning his head slightly, Aidan swiped his tongue across her bottom lip, asking for entry.

  Piper moaned, opening to him.

Their tongues tangled with each other’s. The taste of her caused Aidan to release his own groan of satisfaction.

Piper began to rotate her hips and another, deeper groan rumbled up his chest. Slowly, she kissed her way down his chest. Nipping his nipples with her teeth, she continued to set him on fire as her mouth headed south. Stopping long enough to swirl the tip of her tongue around his belly button, Piper wasted no more time reaching her goal.

  “Lift,” she ordered.

Something about Piper dishing out orders was hot as fuck to him. Doing as she requested, Aidan lifted his hips as she pulled his boxers down. His dick sprang up in front of her face and he watched as heat filled her beautiful blue eyes.

When she wrapped her hand around him, Aidan thought he would lose it. He needed to calm himself, or this would be over before it even started. However, calm was the last thing his body wanted, and right now, it had a mind of its own. Nothing could have prepared him for the moment she pressed her tongue against the base and slowly slid it up his length, then circled it around the swollen head.

“Fuck!” he groaned when she took him into her mout
h and sucked him to the back of her throat.

“Mmm,” Piper moaned. The vibration causing his balls to tighten.

Aidan watched in pure fascination as Piper skillfully sucked his dick. Her mouth was heaven, her tongue was magic. He could only guess what it would feel like when he finally got to bury himself deep in her pussy.

Up and down, Piper sucked harder, faster; jerking him off in time with her sucking. The tricks she was doing with her tongue caused his balls to constrict even farther. He had to stop her, as much as he hated to, or he would be coming down her throat.

“Piper,” Aidan begged. “Baby, you have to stop.”

Piper just shook her head, taking him even deeper.

Grabbing her under the arms, Aidan lifted her off his dick causing a loud pop when the suction was broken. Quickly, he reversed their positions.

“Now, it’s my turn,” he grinned.

  Chapter Three

  Piper

Piper wipe her mouth with the back of her hand. Disappointment zinged through her, but it was swiftly replaced with excitement.

“Please, don’t let me stop you,” Piper smiled, spreading her legs wider to fit his shoulders.

Aidan placed a small kiss on her lips but didn’t linger. Slowly, he kissed his way down her neck. A moan fell from her lips when Aidan nipped her collarbone, and then lightly ran his tongue over it to soothe the sting.

  “You like that, Piper?”

  “Yes,” she breathed.

“Let’s see how well you like this.”

Aidan sucked one nipple into his mouth and used his hand to pinch the other. A shot of electricity traveled straight to her pussy. As Aidan feasted on her tits, Piper reached a hand between their bodies and began to play with her clit. She was so close to coming.

Before she could get a good rhythm going, Aidan pulled away from her breasts and smacked her hand.

  “No, ma’am,” he chastised.

  “But I need...” Piper began.

“And you will,” Aidan interrupted. “When I’m ready to allow you to.”
