Visions Across the Veil Page 9

by Gretchen S. B.

"You both seem to have shaken things up just enough to maybe save the Night World. You gave them a fighting chance. Though we don't know for sure because it's dependent on the choices everybody else makes, it will definitely be more interesting to watch now that there's more possible positive outcomes."

Narcissa's heart is already soaring from the reunion with Lloyd. The love of her life is finally standing in front of her; she can finally feel his touch and be in his presence. Something they both yearned for over many decades. That means more to her than anything in the world. But even though she is glowing inside and out with the joy of that reunion, part of her is intrigued and relieved that something she did for familial love will end up being the change the Night World needs.

It is exactly like her great aunt told her when she was very young: nothing changes the world like love. Even if it's only one person's world it can still rocket harder than anything else. The Night World might owe a happy ending from this battle coming up to the drive to bring happiness to one couple. Here’s hoping Lucia succeeds where Narcissa failed. Maybe the younger woman can finally bring peace to the old pirate and the powerful MP who lacks the confidence to flourish in her skills.

Lloyd slides his other hand down Narcissa's waist and grabs her hand in his much larger one. "Shall we head home, my love?" he asks gently with a beaming smile on his face and if she isn’t mistaken his eyes are watery as well.

Tears are streaming freely down her face as she smiles back at the love of her life and squeezes his hand. "Absolutely Lloyd, take me home.”

They look at each other another moment, as if they can’t believe they’re finally together. After such a short time as a couple then many decades apart, the moment has finally come. In death they’ll get their happily ever after. Giving each other's hand another squeeze, they both turn forward and continue walking into the light.
