“While Blitz is keeping his nose clean of the powder, I have good authority to say that he is not clean in the flesh department.” Diesel laid it out there for us. We knew that they wouldn’t stay clean.
“I got a call this morning from Blitz. He wants to do a sit-down, and soon.” Brick announces. The vein in his forehead was throbbing. The Prez wasn’t happy about the turn of events. “Now, I do believe that it would be wise for us to set up boundaries, but it would be wise that we go in suspecting an ambush.” The grumbles go around the table.
“Prez, when do you want this shit show to go down?” Tank speaks up.
“The School fundraiser is this weekend. I was thinking, maybe tomorrow. In a neutral area.” The bar on the outskirts of Redding would be the best place. “I will set it up for Buzz’s tomorrow afternoon. I want the officers there. We will go in ready for war.” Brick’s grim face nods at each member around the table.
“Anything else?” Bricks asks. “Nothing? Good. Meeting adjourned.” The gavel slams on the table. We all file out on edge and ready to go to war.
I think about the threat that my woman is facing. She has become a victim of human trafficking right here in the good Ol’ US of A. Shaking my head as I make my way to the bar. I ignore all of the sweet butts and settle down for a good Ol’ beer.
“What’s with the long face darlin’?” Kelsey asks me.
“Nothing,” I answer as I take a long pull off my beer.
“Uh-huh, we all heard Chloe screaming Saturday night. So, tell me again, what’s with the face?” Damn, I knew she was loud, but shit. The smile that surprises me tugs at my lips. I did that to Chloe, made her lose her shit.
“Seriously, nothing is up, Kels, just thinking.”
“Well, your thinking is awfully loud. If your thinking about a certain brown-haired beauty, then all I can say is go for it. Chloe is good for you, Jag.” She reached out at pats my arm before she moves down the bar to serve my brothers. I could feel that Chloe would be good for me, but would I be good for her? That was the question. But fuck it; maybe it was time for me to go after something light for a change. I just didn’t know how to hang on to something good. All I could hope was that I didn’t fuck it up.
My phone beeped, I smiled when I saw who was texting me. “Damn, brother, not you too.” Snake drawled out. Looking up at the man whore of the club. “Oh, fuck man. You got it bad already.” The smile that played on his lips made me scowl at him.
“If I ever find pussy that is good enough, maybe I will become a shmuck like Tank and Brick, and now you.” He tilts his beer towards me. Clinking our bottles together as he finished his beer and walked off towards two of the sweet butts.
Chloe: Making dinner tonight if you want to join.
I thought about it, I had never had dinner made for me. Not without strings attached, at least. Of course, if I went to Chloe’s house, I might be balls deep in that pussy after I tied her to the bed and tortured her body to orgasm.
Me: Sure, what time?
Chloe: Sevenish?
Me: Count me in
Chloe: You know where I live ;)
I couldn’t keep the chuckle back. I liked seeing this side of Chloe. All I had ever seen was a shy woman that didn’t know what she wanted. Now I know it was just a front. Damn seeing her naked in front of me, the way she took to the sub role. She was a fucking natural. My cock came to life in my jeans. Checking the time, it was only lunchtime. Damn seven hours until I would get to see that sweet face again. Those plump lips begging for my cock. My phone chirped again. This time I didn’t smile as I read the text.
Troy: Call me ASAP
My thoughts raced as I thought about what he needed. Fuck, did something go wrong with the mission he was on? It was a simple mission, really. He just needed to ensure that the football star stayed out of trouble and off the radar of his personal stalker. The last I heard, his stalker happened to be a woman who was obsessed with the star. I dialed Troy as I left the clubhouse.
“Jag, man. We got a problem.” Troy answered calm and collected as usual. If there were a problem, most people wouldn’t have known.
“Talk to me.”
“It’s P. She went to the doctor; they want her on bed rest man. I know she is needed with your woman. But hell, man.” He blew out a shaky breath, even though his voice was steady, I could hear the worry in that exhale.
“I don’t see there being a problem. If anything, I will just stay on my woman. Tell P to get her ass home and stay.” I may be classified as a monster, but I wasn’t sick enough to make a pregnant woman lose her unborn child over a job.
“Thanks, man. Everything is smooth here. Finally got the stalker arrested. I should be home by tomorrow morning.”
“Good job Troy. Talk to you soon.” Ending the call. I mount my bike and head to the shelter. The fundraiser was coming up, and I was torn. I wanted to be there for my club, but I also wanted to help Chloe with the shelter. I may not have a choice in the matter now that P is out of commission for the foreseeable future.
Pulling into the parking lot, I get off the bike and make my way into the shelter. I had been here once before when I found Diablo. At the time, Chloe wasn’t here, but she is now.
There is a young woman behind the counter, she stares at me in fear for a second before she shakes her head and gives me a small smile. “H-How can I help you?” No welcome or nothing. Something’s never change.
“Looking for Chloe,” I tell her as I lean on the counter.
“Uh, um, she is busy.” She tells me as she nervously picks up the phone. I smile at her. Liking the way she tries to protect my woman.
“Don’t worry about it.” I pull my phone out and call. “Hey babe, have a surprise for ya out front,” I tell Chloe when she answers.
“You do, I mean okay.” She hangs up. I chuckle at the way she changed her tone. The door opens from one of the hallways. The little woman behind the counter watches me closely.
“Hey babe, have you had lunch yet?” Chloe looks fantastic in her jeans and tight tee pink shirt that tells the world that pit bulls are better than humans.
“No,” her one-word answer makes me smile.
“Good, thinking of taking you out for lunch,” I tell her straight.
She turns to the woman behind the counter. “Trina, I will be out of the office for a bit.” She turns to me, “let me go get my purse.” I nod even though I have no plans to make her pay. I watch that sexy ass sway as she goes back to where she came from.
“Are you her boyfriend?” the timid mouse of a woman asks.
I shrug, “Yeah.” The mouse smiles and loses all of her shyness gone.
“Good, Chloe needs something good in her life. I hate seeing her alone and sad. Just keep her happy, please.” I didn’t like that Chloe was sad or alone, but I planned on changing that.
“Glad she has someone like you looking out for her,” I tell Trina honestly. She gives me a smile as Chloe comes back out. I wrap my arm around her shoulders as I lead her outside. Bringing her up to my bike, she stops and looks up at me with her big brown eyes getting wider by the second.
Chapter 14
Chloe
I look at the bike in front of me and then at Dax. I swallow and look back at the bike. Not that I am terrified, but I am unsure if I can ride that. I can feel my anxiety rising, and my brain is thinking of everything that can go wrong, we hit something, and we are killed instantly, or what if we have a blowout all of the scenarios go through my head quickly.
“Breathe, babe.” I jerk my head up to his face and take a deep breath in. He cups my cheeks. “You good?” I nod my head as I focus on his eyes, I didn’t notice it before but his eyes are the color of whiskey. I hate that he sees me like this, a simple bike ride, and I can’t even just enjoy the gesture. “Have you ever ridden before?” he asks in that deep baritone of his. I shake my head, and I feel the panic start to recede from my body as I get lost in his eyes. He nods his head. “I think you might need thi
s ride more than I do.” I nod my head at him again. He doesn’t say anymore as he puts the helmet on me and fastens it. He straddles the bike. “Use my shoulders to brace as you swing your leg over. You’re going to put your feet on the pegs.” I do as he asks me to. He pulls me closer to his back and wraps my hands around his middle.
The bike roars to life, the engine vibrates under me and I tighten my grip around his waist. He revs the engine, and we take off, slow at first. Closing my eyes, I try to keep my thoughts on the vibrations going through my body. As I focus on the waves from the bike, I realize all to soon that was the wrong thing to do. Fisting his shirt, I cry out as it slams into me; my orgasm makes me gasp as I open my eyes when I feel the bike stop. Looking around, we are at a stoplight. “Said, you needed this more.” His smile tugging at his lips, I laugh hard. I should feel humiliated that his bike just acted like a vibrator for me, but damn it felt good to just let go at the moment.
We take off, and I feel more relaxed and free than I have felt in a long while. The ride is over before I was ready for it to be. We pull into Don Jose’s Mexican restaurant. My stomach gives off a rumble as I smell the food from the parking lot. Getting off the bike the same way I got on, my legs give a little, but Dax catches me and pulls me into him. He had told me he didn’t like touch, I was surprised that he was touching me. Maybe Dax didn’t like it when I touched him. Not wanting to push him, I kept my arms at my sides as he steadies me. My fingers itch to cup his face, but I resist it.
“Thanks,” I tell him as I try to pull away. Dax doesn’t let me pull away.
“Give me your lips.” My body heats up when he give me that order. I comply, leaning into him and giving him a chaste kiss. “Nuh-uh, Chloe. Kiss me like you want to.” Sucking in the air into my lungs, I lean into him and kiss him like I mean it. He takes over the kiss with ease, and his tongue pushes into my mouth. I let out a moan when he pulls on my bottom lip.
“Get a room!” Someone yells. It doesn’t deter Dax from devouring my mouth. That is what it is. “Damn Jag, you gonna fuck your girl right here?” Dax lets out a low growl as he pulls away from me. I look up to see the man from the clubhouse.
“Fuck off, Blaze. Come one, babe, let's get you fed.” I nod as I fumble with the helmet; he knocks my hands away and undoes the brain bucket for me. Dax leads me into the restaurant with a large warm hand on the small of my back. We get seated into a booth after we order, and my margarita on the rocks is set in front of me.
“Let me get this straight,” Dax starts. “You blush when I talk to you, but when Blaze suggests that I am going to fuck you, you keep a straight face?” He has that smile that is driving me nuts.
“Yeah, you kind of get to me, I guess.” I shrug my shoulders as I take a long drink of margarita.
“Good to know.” I look around the restaurant and realize that it has been a while since I have seen P.
“Where is P?” I ask him, the shock registers on his face. “What you didn’t think I would find out?” I ask him feeling the alcohol doing its thing.
“About that, she had to go on bed rest.” No one told me that she was sick. “She isn’t sick, just pregnant.”
“Oh, well that sucks; I hope she and the baby are alright.” He nods his head.
“Anyway, I am going to be shadowing you or a while, or until Troy gets back.”
“Are you worried that I am going to run away or something?” I throw it out there. Why would he have me watched? There isn’t anything special about me.
“If that was the problem, I could solve that by tying you to my bed.” I try to keep the heat out of my face. But my god, I want that. I shift a little in my seat as I feel the wetness and pressure of my arousal rising.
“Is that so?” He nods his gaze heated and full of promise.
“There are some pressing issues that you don’t need to worry about now. Just know that you are being kept safe.” My mind begins to run wild. Why would he be worried about my safety? No one is interested in me. I am kind of boring. My life is dull. I work at the shelter and go home to paint. Two times a year now, I make an appearance both times for the animal shelter. See boring, non-existent life.
I snort out my response to him. “Please, Dax, I have the most boring life of the century. There is nothing out there to threaten me.” I wave off his next comment as he opens his mouth. “Trust me, Dax; there is no one out there that is remotely interested in me.”
He reaches over and grabs my hand. “I am interested in you.” He states a matter of fact.
“Oh, well, okay, then,” I say as I pick up my drink with my left hand. Like Dax’s words didn’t just ignite a fire in my belly. I have never been one that needed reassurance, but it felt excellent hearing that a man like Dax was interested in me.
Our waitress brings our food out at the right time. I pull my hand back as she sets the food down in front of us. The monster fajitas sizzling and the smell wafting off. God, I forget how good fajitas smell. The food went down more relaxed than it should. I was glad that I stopped at two drinks. I like Margaritas, but Tequila, well; it makes my mouth talk more than it should. Like right now.
“You know, Dax, I am interested in you too. I mean, who wouldn’t be. You are really hot.” I fan my face to show him that I mean he is like really fucking hot. He throws his head back and laughs. “It’s not funny, I mean it. Like, come on, you have been my personal wet dream for so long.” He stops laughing and sets his searing gaze on me. Those brown eyes that are like whiskey. I could get drunk in his eyes. I shiver thinking about our night together. God, do I want more.
“I better get you back to work.” He gets up and helps me out of the booth. The ride back to the shelter was even better now that I have gotten over my little freak-out. Tequila may have something to do with it too.
“I’ll stay out here and wait for you.” He gives me a searing kiss that makes me sway as I make my way back inside. Trina smiles up at me.
“He is kind of scary, but Chloe, you look happy.” Trina smiles and goes back to work before I can say anything. I can feel the smile take over my face as I make my way back to my desk to get more work done. So far, everything is coming along nicely. The cupcakes that we are selling some of the employees are making, and some are being bought from a local bakery. Trina and I are making the dog treats. Who knows they might be a big hit for the locals?
Five rolls around faster than I thought. Locking up, I wave good-bye to the only people that I call friends other than Todd and Zane. “You look happy,” Dax tells me when I get close to my car.
“Well, I love my job,” I tell him teasingly.
“I can tell. Glad you can make a difference.” Dax’s face looks serious. There isn’t a smile tugging his lips this time. Tilting my head in question.
“Am I really? There are so many abandoned animals every day.” The numbers of animals I have seen come through in just the two years I have been overseeing this shelter is astounding. Many of the animals do get adopted, but there are the ones that don’t get a home. They become shelter animals, living, and dying at the shelter. It is sad, and I can understand how they feel, like no one wants them, that no one will rescue them. We try to give them the love that they need, but not having a forever home to go to kills me. How in the hell did my thoughts turn back to me? Damn, I need to check myself.
“You are, for each animal that gets adopted out not only helps them but the person as well. I know Diablo helped me. So, what are we eating tonight?” Thankful for the change of conversation, I smile at him.
“I was thinking of making some Italian food tonight. I have to run to the store first, though.” I tell him as I open my car door and throw my purse and computer bag in. Before I fold myself into the little sporty car.
“Okay, I’ll follow you.” he winks as he closes the door for me. I try to keep my senses about myself, but I am losing them fast. I can’t imagine Dax doing something as domestic as grocery shopping. Driving to the store, I go over everything I might need
and make a mental list. By the time I park, I have my senses back to where they need to be until I see Dax getting off his bike. That ass looks so good in his tight jeans. He has those ass hugging jeans paired with a tight black tee and his leather vest. His appearance screams bad boy, and that swagger he has affirms that he could be every woman’s wet dream. Don’t get me started on that beard, and now that I have had it between my legs. My body shivers at the memory. Giving myself a mental check, I get out of the car.
“Glad to see you drive sensible.” He gives me that smirk.
“My dad always told me that I wasn’t driving for myself, but for all the idiots on the road.” Dax throws his head back, laughing.
“Too fucking true.” I smile, silently loving that I made him laugh. His laugh is so damn sexy. I wish he did it more often. We walk in comfortable silence to the doors. “So where to first?” He asks me as he grabs the buggy. Well, he is just full of surprises. Making my way down the aisles to get everything I need for some chicken Alfredo, garlic bread, and salad. I also stop to get some treats for Vixen.
“Wine or beer?” I ask him as we make it down the adult drink isle.
“Beer.” I look back at him. His eyes aren’t on anything other than my ass. I smile glad that my larger backside has caught his attention. I grab the beer that I usually drink. Making our way to the checkout, the looks don’t go unnoticed. The one of women who gives me those ‘go to hell look'. And the ones that wish they were me. My ego boosts a little, knowing I have something they want. I have him for however long he wants to keep me. Thinking about that makes me a little sad. I knew this wouldn’t be permanent. I am not something that is held for long. Although I understand, it doesn’t take the sting away.
