The Vampire's Alpha Mate: A BBW Tiger-Shifter Romance (Arcane Affairs Agency) Page 20

She grew more excited, and as I leaned my head back to the side, she leaned forward and sunk her teeth into my neck. I pounded into her. I felt the delicious sensation of her teeth against me, and I growled with furious pleasure.

She moaned in excitement and then lifted her mouth for me to take and claim. She was mine.

She said almost at the same time. “I’m yours.”

And as I pounded into her, I said, “And I am yours.”

She threw her head back and screamed. I yelled and then leaned down and bit her neck again. We’d exchanged blood. A connection forged between us, a bond unbreakable until the end of time. It was primal, carnal, and my love for Augusta poured out of me and into her—always her. Augusta.

I cradled her into my arms holding her tight as we came at the same time. Together. We were together.

It was an amazing feeling. As if we were one. Nothing would ever tear us apart. Augusta made me realize exactly how long I’d been alone. That was loneliness. And as I looked in Augusta’s face, I stared at beautiful eternity.

  EPILOGUE

  *Augusta*

I STOOD BESIDE CADE AT our Christmas party. Dalton came back and his cabin was just as he left it. I handed him the keys to his four-wheeler. My brother sent me his love and support…and his thanks for giving him my apartment. I was going to live with Cade.

Cade had invited all of his workers, and I’d invited my friends from my job. Sophia and Mr. Smith had come. The Christmas party was huge. Agent Ramsey was there as well.

All of Cade’s workers had brought their families, and they made certain each one of them had come up to Cade and personally greeted him.

It was a winter wonderland. Cade smiled at me. Whereas before he reluctantly showed joy, now he seemed to shine with it.

I held a huge plate of food, and Cade and I both drank apple cider. He didn't eat anything but no one seemed to notice.

The sleigh he'd made was in the center of the crowd. Everyone watched as Moyna, her children, and her husband climbed on and with two reindeer leading it, began making the rounds.

They went around delivering gifts to all of the little kids that had come. Moyna and her husband had dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

  I grinned.

Sophia came running up to me. “It’s fitting justice what happened to Mr. Turner, isn't it?”

I shook my head and Cade raised an eyebrow. Cade and I had joined up and partnered. Mr. Smith hadn’t been on board with Mr. Turner’s aggressive timeline. He’d halted everything.

That had given Cade and I time to present my concept to Mr. Smith who’d thought it was a wonderful idea. It hadn’t been easy, though.

Mr. Turner had said that I was lying and that it was all his idea. That Mr. Smith had needed to go with the partner my ex-boss had had in mind.

Thank goodness, I’d put my original proposal inside Mr. Smith's desk. From here, I’d asked Sophia to video conference with us and get the full proposal—which she did. She also proved a valuable witness.

She’d been there the day I’d tried to show it to Mr. Turner. Then I’d given my entire presentation to Mr. Smith with Cade standing there and Mr. Turner, on the other end, looking for all the world like he’d just swallowed a frog.

I got my promotion and Sophia got her cases of red velvet ice cream from Cade’s Creamery. Truthfully, I grabbed a few for myself as well. I had to admit, I didn’t think proving myself to everyone was that big of a deal anymore. Things had a way of turning out for the best.

Cade and I would have a lot to manage.

Seeing that I was telling the truth and that Mr. Turner was indeed the liar, Mr. Smith fired him on the spot.

So I would say that it was appropriate what had happened to Mr. Turner. No one would work with him now. And besides that, now there was going to be a lot more work for the men and women in this town. Because of that, Cade was being hailed as a town hero.

I was just glad that he was my partner.

Agent Boyd Ramsey came up next. “I’m really proud of you, Cade, for the way that you handled the case. I never had any doubt that you would do a good job.”

Cade motioned towards me. “It wasn't just me, Agent Ramsey. Augusta is an amazing partner.”

He looked at us both speculatively. “You two ever want to work for the agency on a full-time basis, get in touch with me.”

I beamed at him, and Agent Ramsey took his plate and moved on down the line to speak to some of the other people that he knew.

The hair bumps on my arms raised. Cade, someone’s watching us. I sent the thought to him. Swallowing, I turned around, and I saw him standing just outside of a small ring of people.

  Cade nodded. I see him.

Kip walked over to us slowly, silently, and cagily. “Cade,” he said and then faced me. “It seems I won’t be collecting my pay and your family won’t be collecting you, Augusta.”

“You made your judgment then,” Cade said.

“Congratulations on bonding and your engagement,” he said.

I hadn’t known what to expect. He would be the one to go back and tell my parents that I was with Cade.

Kip stared at us and gave a jerky bob of his head. “I’m happy to see the two of you have joined. If things had gone the other way, then Augusta I would have had to escort you home. You never need to be concerned about your family if indeed you are supposed to be with Cade and he is supposed to be with you. The two of you make a good couple. Because of that, my judgment is this. I will no longer bother you, your family will no longer torment you Augusta, and Merry Christmas.”

He left then, and before he even got to the edge of the crowd, he slowly disappeared. No one saw him, no one even seemed to look in his direction, but I knew he'd been there. Cade did too. We both looked at each other.

“We belong to each other, Augusta,” he said.

“Always.” Holding hands, we turned and looked at all our friends and family, enjoying themselves, the day before Christmas.
