Poisonous Dream (The Starlight Gods Series Book 5) Page 21

I grinned, leaning down to kiss him hard— my hand glided up and down his hard cock while I rubbed, taking a moment to tease him by sliding my wet entrance against the tip.

He was already groaning in frustration, breaking the kiss to bite my neck while his hands fondled my breasts, my nipples hard.

"Mako," Daniel's voice was a whisper, those golden eyes almost copper as he struggled to keep a steady breath.

I continued to tease him till I couldn't handle it anymore, slowly lowering myself.

The simple movement made me cum right away, causing me to cry out. Daniel groaned, his cock twitched inside me as my pussy clenched his cock. I didn’t dare move, needing to calm from my high before I began to move up and down.

Daniel was patient, waiting for me to relax. He reached out to me, pulling me to rest on his chest for a moment, kissing my neck and whispering sweet words in my ear.

We couldn't wait any longer, our hips moving at a much slower pace, dragging out the intense build-up that was sure to shatter through us.

"Daniel. Yes, so good," I moaned, my hips moving. I ended up sitting back up, my head fell back as I continued to ride him. Daniel's cock was deep inside me as I rubbed my wet entrance against his shaft.

He was just as turned on, moaning and panting as I began to quicken the pace— his eyes locked on me as my breasts bounced to the rhythm. I moved faster and faster, moaning louder and more frequently until we both came at once. My body locked up as I cried out, enjoying every shock of ecstasy that coursed through me.

I passed out on Daniel's chest, both of us panting as we tried to get over our high. Daniel recovered first, turning us in a swift movement until my back was rested on the bed.

Droplets of sweat rolled down his face and chest, his defined pecs rising and falling with each pant. His hands again roamed down my legs, only reaching my knees and back. I could still feel my feet and lower limbs, but the rest was already beginning to numb until Daniel's hands roamed up and down them. I moaned, feeling the exhaustion begin to settle in, but feeling a new sense of need rolled through me.

Daniel closed his eyes for a moment, looking exhausted.

"Daniel," I whispered, concern leaked through my weak voice.

He opened his eyes again to give me a smooth grin. "I'm fine. But I think I can only last one more round," he admitted, the tip of his cock already teasing my entrance.

"Okay," I replied in a breathy voice.

I could barely take the anticipation; the desire to feel him inside me overtaking my ability to think straight. Or maybe it was his gift? Or the way his lavender scent seemed to grow stronger while his dark golden eyes gazed at my naked body with appreciation and unwavering lust.

I wanted to enjoy every moment of this sensual experience. He slowly inched his way inside me, the movement smooth thanks to my wetness. We both sighed in relief as if being joined was our only way to satisfaction.

Daniel began to move— my legs wrapped around his waist. I would take every opportunity to enjoy using them to my favor— in this case, ensuring Daniel's hard cock was so deep inside me I struggled to breathe.

"So fucking tight, Mako," Daniel groaned; his rapid breaths and thrusts matched the rhythm of my moving hips.

Our bodies knew exactly what they wanted and craved each other's company.

"Faster, Daniel," I begged, wanting to climax again.

Daniel moved on my command, pumping even faster, while his hands gripped my waist— his fingernails digging into my skin. I couldn't take it anymore, crying out as I climaxed; my head fell back against the pillow as I rode the wave of ecstasy that crashed through me.

Daniel kept pounding into me, his moans growing louder and louder.

"Fuck!" he cried out, his body grew tense as he did one more deep thrust— cumming inside me. He let every last drop of his release pour into me before he pulled out.

I let him out of my leg hold, barely staying conscious as I tried to catch my breath.

He laid next to me, pulling me into his arms. We didn't exchange any words— our bodies still seemingly in sync and knew that no words could describe that exchange of intense, feverish pleasure.

I let the darkness take me when it came, relaxing in Daniel's arms as his hand played with my hair, and his chest rose and fell with his slowing heartbeat ringing softly against my ear, like a lullaby.

  "Mako?"

I struggled to fight off the darkness that was only seconds from taking me away from reality, but it was a lost battle. I was lucky enough to hear the next words.

"I'll always love you and would never wish to share this moment with anyone else," he revealed.

I smirked, my mind falling into deep slumber. Me too.

  ~MIDNIGHT~

  "You don't love me?"

The words I'd spoken cycles ago repeated over and over in my head. He never loved me. He betrayed me. All Archangels were evil. I needed to hate them— despise every single one of them who'd dare lay a finger on me or use that pathetic gift of theirs.

Over and over I tried to accept the fact that Samuel used me. Yet, my heart couldn't allow me to believe it. Samuel was my first love— the one who promised we'd escape together and enjoy freedom at its best.

Yet, he betrayed me. Yes, betrayal is so easy to commit for an Archangel. They can live with no guilty conscious, because the gods gifted them with power to control us.

I struggled to fight the dark daze, needing to remove myself from this horrendous dream, but I couldn't move. I stared down at my legs— seeing nothing but my limbs.

I screamed, the pain of my legs being chopped off and the reality of never walking again bore through me, making me tremble and cry in fear as I continued to scream.

  "MIDNIGHT!"

No, you'll break my heart like Samuel, you'll ruin me.

  "MIDNIGHT. Wake up!"

My eyes snapped open as I sat forward in sheer panic. My whole body trembled as my eyes scanned everywhere, trying to find The Owner's wicked smile as he introduced me to the arena to face the multiple shifters waiting for me— Samuel included.

Something cradled my face, turning my wide, tear-filled eyes to face them— a pair of gold ones stared at me in worry. I struggled to comprehend who this angel was. Where was Samuel? He was my only love.

"Midnight. Snap out of it. You need to wake up," the angel coached.

Wake up? Wake...up? I let the words sink in, blinking a few times before my shoulders sank.

Daniel kept me from falling forward, the relief of the vivid illusion being nothing but a dream sank in. Just a dream...fuck.

I tried to sit back up, not wanting to be a burden to Daniel, but he tightened his hold around me.

"You're going to faint if you move so suddenly. Just take deep breaths and relax, Midnight," Daniel calmed.

  I moaned, feeling extremely weak.

"You’re safe, Midnight. Go back to sleep. I'll be here when either you or Mako wake up," Daniel reassured me.

I nodded, resting on him. I needed his warmth, enjoying the way his strong arms wrapped around me and comforted me. I dozed in and out, afraid to be asleep for too long and being plagued with yet another nightmare.

It felt so real and even though so many cycles had passed, I could feel the agony Samuel had caused me, trying to open a wound that had been sealed. I whimpered, afraid to feel the heartache once more as I remembered the look on his face when he admitted to using me for the sake of survival.

  "Midnight?"

I opened my eyes, lifting my head to see Daniel's concerned look. He wiped the tear that rolled down my cheek.

"Do you want to talk about it? Maybe it will help make you feel better if you acknowledge what keeps giving you nightmares?" he suggested.

I knew he was saying it out of concern and not curiosity. I frowned, but nodded in agreement.

He gave me time to calm down, giving me a long gold t-shirt with the words ‘Angel Lover’ on it. I lifted an eyebrow and gave him a look. He noticed the lo
go, winking before he headed out the room. He returned with two cups of hot milk and wearing white boxers. I smiled, giving my thanks before accepting the unfamiliar mug.

I lifted it up, noticing the glowing rainbow color hair, realizing it was a unicorn drawn on the mug.

  "Unicorn mug?" I questioned.

"Yup. Michael sent it to me saying he found it when he was looking for a whale one for Scarlet. He said you both would like it," Daniel explained, sitting next to me on the bed.

My legs were crossed, having some feeling in them after Mako's eventful moment with Daniel. I'd left because Mako needed alone time with the angel shifter and I was glad that they made up. I didn't hate him, but I wouldn't admit it. Maybe one day.

  "Twin you."

"We're not twins. He's older than me and has longer hair."

"Hmm." I sipped on the warm white liquid, sighing in relief at the warmth that flowed through me as I tried to stay calm.

We stayed silent for some time, sipping the hot milk as we got lost in our own thoughts. He's shared everything about Claire. Maybe...I should share with him about Samuel?

"Whenever I was summoned to fight at the facility, I knew that by the end of it I'd always be the last one standing. I had no choice because I wouldn't allow Mako and I to die. I was in a mindset that failure could never be an option. Plus, if I did well, the Owner would favor us and Mako wouldn't suffer as much," I began, staring at the steam that faded into the air.

I didn't care if Daniel listened or not, but as the first set of words flowed out, I decided to let the remaining walls fall, ready to finally share my story with someone who'd listen.

"When I was summoned, I sprang into action as usual. It had always been that way and as I killed shifter after shifter, I knew that day wouldn't be different. That was until my eyes locked onto a pair of beautiful gold eyes. Angel shifters were rare in the facility and I had never gotten to witness one until that moment. It was as if time had stopped, allowing me to enjoy a few seconds admiring this shifter before I'd be forced to kill him. He was beautiful, yet handsome and in that moment my heart skipped a beat."

I took another sip of my hot milk, letting a few seconds pass before I carried on.

"By the end, it was us two, neck and neck. We were so evenly matched, I knew we'd both die if we made a move. The Owner stopped us, saying it would be a tie. It was the first time I'd seen a shifter reach my level and the first time in the facility for two people to exit the arena. From then on, The Owner put us in different arena sessions, having grown to like this angel shifter. His name was Samuel. He was also an orphan, picked up from the streets. Of course, at the time we had no knowledge of the lies instilled into our minds, so it was comforting to know I had someone who was on the same level as me."

I glanced up to stare at Daniel who watched me intently, his mug resting on his lap. He gave me an encouraging nod, urging me to continue.

"We got close, closer than I'd ever allowed a shifter to be. We talked, laughed, and shared our moments and deep down I knew, I was falling for him. I didn't know what love was, but I didn't want to take it slow in an environment where each day could be your last. He promised we'd escape the facility together, journey new heights and find out what was beyond the darkness that cloaked the sky above."

I struggled to say the next part of the story, needing a moment to collect my emotions. Daniel waited patiently, placing a comforting hand on my back.

I gave him a small smile, building enough confidence to finish my storytelling.

"I opened my heart to him and even envisioned a future. Like marriage and even little baby shifters. I was a fool in love and that all came crashing down when the Owner forced us to face one another. I knew we'd be tied again, and if I was slightly stronger, I couldn't kill him. That was until the Owner revealed that it was all a setup. Samuel was an Archangel and had used his gift to manipulate my feelings."

Daniel frowned, his eyes growing dark; a flicker of anger showed in his expression as he furrowed his eyebrows. I swallowed the lump in my throat before continuing.

"He'd used me. The Owner had promised him freedom if he could weaken me and defeat me. I was but a tool and this was the perfect opportunity for the Owner to prove his teachings. People didn't love just because they liked who you were. They loved for personal benefit and I'd never be accepted. I would never have a family or a man who...loved me. I was a weapon and that's all I'd ever be. Even if Mako got a lover...where would I belong? I was her other half, the being summoned from the depths of darkness within us to protect her. Other than that, I had no further purpose. And this was how the Owner would make me realize that." I felt a tear roll down my cheek, causing me to laugh.

"I was an idiot. And there he was...standing so confidently when he admitted his wrongdoing. The only time I saw a glimmer of remorse was when he watched me close off my emotions. He knew he wouldn't survive. He'd die by my hands and I'd enjoy it. I wanted to give him a slow, agonizing death. Yet, the moment we lunged at one another my body just reacted. I ripped his heart out...and watched him fall to the ground while his heart still pulsed in my hand. He'd broken mine. He didn't deserve to have his own," I whispered, biting my lip as I looked down into the dairy liquid.

I let the tears fall, tired of fighting. Hearing the story with my own ears made me feel a sense of regret. The innocent lives I'd murdered for my survival resurfaced with each second.

Before I could dwell on it, Daniel sighed, taking my mug and placing both of them on the nightstand.

I waited for him to judge me. To tell me what a horrible person I was and to agree that I didn't deserve love or any type of life after all the sins I'd committed.

"I see why you hate us now," he whispered.

I stared into his eyes, but was shocked at the serene smile that formed on his face.

"Midnight. What Samuel did was wrong and against our common law. Archangels are rare, but to manipulate someone to fall in love with them is punished by death. Our kind is extremely difficult to control because of our powers, but it doesn't mean we take advantage to benefit us. I only use my powers for healing or in battle, if necessary. Other than that, they stay locked and untouched. I can understand why you may not have liked me in the beginning. Anyone who'd gone through even a quarter of what you just revealed would never dare let their host go near an angel shifter again. I'm sorry for what Samuel did to you, and I hope with time and healing, the Starlight gods can help mend your heart as well," he explained.

He slipped his hand into mine, looking at where they joined before he continued.

"You deserve to be loved. What Blair Aspen told you was only to keep you under his control. You deserve to be loved. To be adored and to enjoy the joys of companionship. Regardless if you were a spirit or a split personality, we'd love you. Even...when I thought you hated me, I didn't dislike you. I was just as attracted to you as I was to Makoto. I liked how intriguing you were and when you confronted me...I think that's when I knew I'd always love you just as I love Mako. I know each of our spirits are aligned with one of us, and I know you like Elias and EliaseAnne. But know that I love you as well, and will do anything to help you live in the present rather than the past. I'll always stand by you, just as I do with Makoto and any of her other spirits. You are loved, and that will never falter," he confirmed, his gaze unwavering.

"But... Is it okay? For me to like Elias, EliaseAnne...Kai...and you? Kai said it was allowed...but it's hard to wrap my head around it," I confessed, my low voice was barely audible.

"Well, I think this is the first ever happening. Makoto is the only shifter to have five spirits. It's amazing that each of her spirits correlates with each star knight. But I don't have any issues with the idea. I know you're a spirit, but I sometimes forget. Either way, all of us will love every part of Mako and that includes you." Daniel shrugged before giving me a wide smile, his eyes twinkled with happiness.

I could feel Mako lingering in the back of our mind, her happiness just as s
trong as mine.

  "Daniel," I whispered.

  "Yes, Midnight?"

  "Thank you," I whispered.

"Anything for the woman I love and serve," Daniel replied, raising my hand to his lips.

I didn't know how this would work out. How we'd balance one another or even venture into this unknown territory, but for the first time in a long while, I wasn't afraid.

I’m ready to open myself to Mako's group of knights, and maybe with time, I'd come to love all of them as well.

  ~MAKOTO~

"But...you’re still going to train me, right?"

I glanced up at Father's blue eyes. He gave me a sympathetic look, stroking my hair before placing a kiss on my forehead.

"I promise, we'll train on Sunday. You look utterly exhausted and you can't learn this technique when your magic is low," Father disclosed.

I frowned but nodded. It was Saturday afternoon and I'd been knocked out all morning.

I was only awake cause Father passed by with the intentions of training me. He walked in to see me cuddled with Nightmare who'd somehow reappeared from last night. I guessed she knew we'd need some alone time and snuck out.

Daniel wasn't around, but left a note saying he had a meeting with the others, reassuring me that they would tell me what they discussed later.

I was sitting up in bed, wearing the same gold shirt Daniel had given Midnight, but with an addition of black shorts.

Daniel must have slipped them on me before doing my hair which was out from its crowned braid and down in a long braid, reminding me of that princess who was stuck in some castle. I must have been really deep in sleep to not feel his magic hands at work.

"Daniel told me he was able to get your legs to work for a short duration," Father announced.
