  Mateo’s sentence was lighter than Tally thought it would be. Raul was relieved about that, but didn’t want to have much to do with his cousin.

  “When are your parents due?” Yolanda asked.

  Tally’s mouth dropped open. “Oh no! That’s right! They’re coming to town the same weekend as both the weddings.”

  Yolanda gave a soft snort. “That ought to be a whole lot of fun.”

  Recipe

  Clark Bars

  (adapted from Cooks.com)

  Ingredients:

  1 c. sugar

  1 c. corn syrup

  1 c. smooth peanut butter

  6 c. Rice Krispies

  12 oz. package of semisweet chocolate chips

  Instructions:

  Heat first two ingredients in large saucepan until just boiling, remove from heat.

  Add peanut butter to the pan and mix well.

  Stir in cereal (you can also use cornflakes or Special K).

  Spread into 9x13 buttered baking pan.

  Press into corners.

  Melt chocolate chips in another pan, spread on top.

  Refrigerate, then cut into squares or rectangles.
