A Case Full of Cats Page 7

“Oh, Mrs. Throgmorton, I don’t know if she wants to do all that,” Courtney hedged, not wanting to push the reunited pair.

“We’d be thrilled!” Ritz balanced perfectly on Sable’s shoulders as she followed Mrs. Throgmorton to the other room. He purred happily.

Courtney watched them go. There were so many animals who were getting homes. Charlotte had gone home with Mark Cooper. Beau and the gray kitten would have tons of fun adventures with Lisa. Ritz, after a long journey and even a little law-breaking, was finally with his person once again. As she looked around the room, she knew that wasn’t the end of it. The woman holding the marmalade was filling out paperwork, as were several others. This was by far the best thing Mrs. Throgmorton ever could’ve done for the Curly Bay Pet Hotel and Rescue, and Courtney would have to find a way to truly thank her.

“So,” Detective Fletcher said as he came up beside her, “are you going to tell that young lady that she better watch her jewelry around that cat?”

Courtney slid him a smile as she shrugged. “I’ll let them get acquainted, and of course she’ll still have paperwork to fill out. Then I’ll let the cat out of the bag.”
