We played for a while, just enjoying ourselves as we often did. The melody shifted into the higher register, and I took off for a few measures. Until I felt a soft nudge in my side.
“Professor Hamilton,” Emma smirked at me, when I’d turned to look at her. “I’d watch your pacing on those crescendos, if I were you.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. A hearty belly laugh that only Emma could bring out of me. She resumed taking over the lead and I watched her a few moments before I replied. “Well then, I suggest you work on your staccato, Ms. Harvey.”
