“Yeah?” She wiggled against him.
“Besides that.” His eyes sobered. “I don’t ever want to hear you compare me to that Edes jackass again. I mean it. You have no idea what it was like for me to hear you say that. I love you, Thea. I wanted to kill this guy for what he did to you, and for you to tell me I was like him…” He broke off, his jaw tightening.
Thea framed his face in her hands, staring into his eyes. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, kissing his forehead. “I’m sorry.” She kissed his cheeks. “I’m sorry.” She kissed his eyelids. “I’m sorry.” She pressed her mouth to his.
And it was all there, everything they’d felt before and something new, some added depth and intensity that took them to another level. There was promise, there was connection, the leisure to explore, the patience to trust. And underlying it all, the ever-present heat.
Finally, she raised her head and leaned back. “So let me get this straight. Compromise, trust—” she ticked them off “—communication, smacking upside the head—”
“Wild sex,” Brady contributed.
“Wild sex. And I’m not ever allowed to compare you to Derek again.”
“Right.”
“Ever?” She traced a fingertip down his chest. “Not even to say that compared to Derek you’re hotter?” She licked his lips. “And bigger?” She caught his earlobe between her teeth. “And a hundred, thousand, million times better lover?” She gasped as he slid a hand up to cup her breast. “And that I could never, ever love anybody as much as I love you?”
Brady pulled her to him. “I suppose I could handle having you compare me that way.”
“Then I hope you’ve got a lot of time because I’m just getting started.”
He leaned in and pressed a kiss on her. “Baby, I’ve got all the time you need.”
