“That’s a very vivid and very…old-fashioned image.” Hugh chuckled. “One thing you need to remember is that you were born into a small, dying pride. The Westgate lions struggled to keep themselves alive. They didn’t have the resources to protect you in any way other than keeping you locked up. We’re a Premier Pride. If we’re blessed with a Siphon being born in Berk, we have the resources to both protect and nurture him.”
Johnnie sighed in relief.
His expression turning serious, Hugh sat up. “The other thing Berk has is a Premier who learns from his mistakes.” He took Johnnie’s hand between his. “I made the worst mistakes of my life with you and it nearly killed us both.” He ran his palms over Johnnie’s chest, across his shoulders, and wrapped them around both sides of his neck. “As it is, my blindness cost us years apart even when we were in the same room.” He tipped his forehead forward and leaned it against Johnnie’s. “If our pride has a young Siphon, we will not be selling him to the highest bidder. He will have a home here for as long as he wants it. Nobody will own him.”
Articulating the lesson he learned from Dennis’s sacrifice, Johnnie said, “It’d be wrong to leave a pride to languish by withholding a Siphon from a Premier who would die without him. Prides need their Premier and a Siphon has to fulfill his role.”
“That’s true.” Hugh slid his thumbs across Johnnie’s cheekbones and massaged his fingertips over the back of Johnnie’s head. “How about we teach him how important he is, how necessary, and then we let him choose a pride and a Premier he wants to spend his life with?”
“That’s a good plan.”
“Do you know how important you are to me, Johnnie?” Hugh lowered Johnnie onto his back and then lay over him. “I adore you.” He ran the tip of his tongue around the perimeter of Johnnie’s lips. “I need you.” He shuddered and his voice grew hoarse with emotion. “I cherish you.”
“You have me,” Johnnie promised. “I understand my place in the pride now, the importance of my role. And I always wanted you but now…” He gulped, his throat suddenly thick and rough. “You fill me completely. My head, my heart, my soul.” Desire sharp in its intensity struck Johnnie. “Please.” He trembled. “I need you.” He wrapped his legs around Hugh’s waist and tilted his backside up, opening himself to be filled in a more primal way.
“I love you.” Hugh smiled at him, the corners of his eyes crinkling, his expression affectionate and serene. “I’m glad I can show you like this.” He blindly reached for the bottle of lubricant on the nightstand and made quick work of getting them both ready. “But if I get so busy with the pride that I forget to show you in other ways, tell me.” He slanted his mouth over Johnnie’s and kissed him tenderly as he pressed the wide, smooth head of his erection against Johnnie’s puckered opening. “I promise to always listen to you.” Slowly, Hugh slid into him.
“You’re their Premier,” Johnnie said breathlessly, his back bowing as he took the thick heat all the way inside him. “They need you.”
Hugh nuzzled Johnnie’s neck. “They need their Premier. I need my Siphon.” He slowly pulled out and then rocked back in. “It all goes together.”
Spines grew on Hugh’s cock, massaging each of Johnnie’s nerve endings as he pumped in and out of his passage. Clawing at Hugh’s back, Johnnie gasped, and said, “We go together.”
They moved in unison, bodies, minds, and hearts connecting as they gave and sought fulfillment and release. Hugh mouthed Johnnie’s lips, nibbled on his earlobes, and sucked on his neck. He grazed his hands over whatever parts of Johnnie he could reach, like he couldn’t get enough.
Johnnie felt the same way. “I was meant for this,” he whispered.
“You were meant for me.”
Deep in his soul, where he had once been cold, empty, and lonely and he was now warm, fulfilled, and loved, Johnnie knew that was true.
“Your Siphon,” he said as he fell over the edge of pleasure into blinding bliss, seed pulsing from his cock.
“My Johnnie.” Hugh ground his hips against him, moaned, and then kissed him deeply as he came. “Mine.”
