My Enigmatic Boss

“With me here is Jasmine Tate, who plays Diana in the movie alongside her boyfriend, director Clark Webster! How are you two feeling tonight?”
Various cameras flash all around us as the interviewer holds out her microphone for me to speak. I freeze for a moment, but Clark, thankfully, swoops in and saves me.
“We are incredibly grateful to be here,” he says with a charming smile that immediately calms me. We discussed earlier that he would do most of the talking as this is my first time on a red carpet. It is the international release of the movie, and to say that I am nervous would be an understatement. Clark, of course, takes it all in stride, handling the media with expertise and keeping me calm and sane. The energy around us is amazing and intoxicating. A part of me still cannot believe that I am really here at the premier of a movie that I starred in. All my dreams are coming true before my eyes.
Dating him this past year has been nothing short of a dream. Though he is a closed-off person, he has shown me different sides of himself over the months, and I have fallen in love with every single one of them. Working with him and then being able to go back home to him as well has been a dream come true for me.
“This film is my baby, my redemption, and the best thing that ever happened to me,” Clark is saying, and I smile at the pride in his voice. “After all, I don’t know if I would have ever met Jasmine here without it, and I can’t imagine my life without her.”
I feel my cheeks heat up at his words as the microphone and camera are turned to me.
“Well, isn’t that the sweetest thing ever!” the interviewer gushes. “Jasmine, what do you have to say about Clark and the film?”
“Clark is… the most passionate man I’ve ever met. Working with him on this movie has been the most incredible experience of my life and falling in love with him alongside it is more than I could have ever hoped for. He deserves every good thing coming his way, and I can’t wait to see what he has planned next,” I reply honestly.
“Oh, so you have more surprises in store for us, Clark?”
“Just one,” he says sheepishly. The interviewer looks at him in interest, and even I raise an eyebrow. I didn’t know he planned on making any announcements tonight. “It’s more of a question, actually,” he continues, “and it’s for Jasmine.”
My confusion grows as he takes a step back from me then, to my utter amazement, he drops to one knee and pulls out a small box from his pocket. My jaw drops as he flips it open to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.
“Jasmine Tate,” he starts, “I owe you everything. From the moment you walked into that auditorium and auditioned for this role, I knew you were going to change my life, and you did. This past year with you has been the best, and I’m hoping you want to spend many more years like this by my side. Will you marry me?”
“Clark.” I cover my mouth with my hands to hide my sob. “Yes! Yes, of course, I will!”
Loud applause erupts around us, but I don’t pay it any mind as Clark slides the ring onto my finger and pulls me into a tight hug.
“There you have it, folks, movie premier and an engagement…”
The voices around me fade away as I press my lips to Clark’s.
“I love you so much,” he murmurs into the kiss.
“I love you too,” I reply. “So much.”
