Nicholas blinked back his own tears and pulled me into a hug. Releasing me, he said, “I’m so proud of you, Kim. So unbelievably proud. And since I’ve actually read the book now, I can honestly say I’m not at all surprised.”
I glanced around the room. “This place is good luck. Only amazing things happen here.”
Nicholas let go of my hand and exhaled. “Which reminds me…”
I leaned forward. “What?”
He gave me a sheepish grin. “I’m not sure if I can top getting ‘the call,’ but I’m going to try.” He reached into his pocket and removed a small blue velvet box.
My mouth opened.
“Kim,” he said, rising from his chair.
“Nicholas?”
In what felt like slow motion, I watched Nicholas get down on one knee. “Kimmie Michele Long, how do you feel about getting a book deal and a marriage proposal on the same night?” He opened the box, revealing the most stunning pink diamond engagement ring I’d ever laid eyes on.
I gulped. “I lied before. This is the best night ever.” I allowed him to slip the ring onto my finger.
“Will you marry me, Kimmie Long?”
“I will absolutely marry you, Nicholas Strong,” I said, before vaulting off the chair and into his arms. As we hugged, I wondered if Nicholas’s plan to pop the question was what had Bridget and Caroline acting so strangely. I would be sure to drill them for details at a later date, but first things first—I was engaged.
“I love you so much, Blogger Girl,” he said, kissing me with a fire I knew was not the withering flame of a late-night booty call but a heat that could last a lifetime. “Or should I say, Novelista Girl?” He winked at me.
“Neither of the above,” I said, shaking my head with my lips pursed.
Nicholas furrowed his brow and looked at me with curiosity. “No? What then?”
I flashed him a brilliant smile. “Published Girl.”
“I like it,” he said with a grin before giving me a pensive look. “So Laurel and Henry.”
I cocked my head to the side. “What about them?” Once Nicholas got around to starting A Blogger’s Life, he finished it within forty-eight hours. He even sent me texts during his commute to work updating me on his progress. He was adorable. He was my fiancé.
“Henry nearly screwed things up, huh?”
“He sure did.”
“But he learned the error of his ways.”
“Yes, he did.”
“Just like me.”
I gazed into his eyes. “Just like you.”
Nicholas smiled, not saying anything.
Leaning toward him, I whispered, “Want a spoiler?”
“You bet,” he said, lowering his head closer to mine.
I reached for his hand. “They live happily ever after.”
Running his fingers along the pink stone of my engagement ring, Nicholas said, “Just like us.”
I nodded. “Just like us.”

LOVE LITERARY STYLE
Karin Gillespie
They say opposites attract, and what could be more opposite than a stuffy literary writer falling for a self-published romance writer?
Novelist Aaron Mite meets Laurie Lee at a writers’ colony and mistakenly believes her to be a renowned writer of important fiction. When he discovers she’s a self-published romance author, he’s already fallen in love with her.
Aaron thinks genre fiction is an affront to the fiction-writing craft. He often quotes the essayist, Arthur Krystal who says literary fiction “melts the frozen sea inside of us.” Ironically Aaron doesn’t seem to realize that he’s emotionally frozen. The vivacious Laurie, lover of flamingo-patterned attire and all things hot pink, is the one person who might be capable of melting him.
In the tradition of The Rosie Project, Love Literary Style is a sparkling romantic comedy which pokes fun at the divide between low and high brow fiction.
