Next to Never: Shattered Innocence Trilogy Page 8

by A. L Long

The ride in the elevator was silent. It seemed to take forever to reach his floor. When the doors finally opened, Rade followed Dylan out of the elevator and helped her with her coat. He laid her coat over the bar stool as he walked over to the wine cooler to grab a bottle of wine. Dylan couldn’t take her eyes off him. Even fully clothed, she could see the definition of his muscular build. She wondered how much work it took to achieve a body like his. When Rade turned toward her, he saw she was ogling his body. Without commenting on her intent look, he set two wine glasses on the counter and poured a glass of wine for them. He took the wine glasses while Dylan grabbed the take out and went to the dining room table. As they sat, Dylan took a sip of her wine.

“This wine is wonderful,” she said as the red liquid smoothly ran down the back of her throat.

Rade took a sip himself and said, “So it is. It’s a 1998 Chateau Petrus Pomeral. It’s about four thousand dollars a bottle.”

Dylan just about choked on the sip of wine, she just took. “Are you kidding me?”

Rade looked at Dylan with a smirk. “I would never kid you, Dylan. If you want a good wine, sometimes you need to pay a little extra for the best, and I always get the very best.”

Was this guy for real? All she could think about was what she could buy for four thousand dollars.

Rade and Dylan finished their dinner. Rade offered his hand to Dylan and led her over to the coach. “Thank you for dinner. It was really good. I just can’t believe we drank almost a whole bottle of a four thousand dollar wine. That’s like a thousand dollars per glass,” Dylan professed as they sat.

Rade looked at her with a grin. “Dylan, don’t worry about how much the bottle of wine cost. Just enjoy. Let’s focus on something else.” It was nothing for Rade to spend so much on a single bottle of wine. “So what would you like to do? We can watch a movie, go out, or talk.”

Although Rade only had one thing on his mind, he wanted to make sure she was comfortable. He would let her make the choice. “We can watch a movie, if that's okay with you?” She hadn’t watched a good movie in a while. Most of her time was spent thinking about Michael, ending up crying herself to sleep.

Rade grabbed the remote from the coffee table and sat next to her on the couch. Dylan didn’t see a TV when she scanned the room. When he pushed a button on the remote, within seconds a TV appeared from inside the credenza across the room. Dylan just looked at him, rolling her eyes in amazement.

“I don’t like clutter…” he said. “I wanted access to a television in case I needed to watch the news or stock reports.”

Rade stretched out on the couch to make himself more comfortable. He held out his hand to Dylan, wanting her to lie with him. Dylan was hesitant.

“Dylan, don’t overthink this. I just want you to lay with me and be comfortable.” Knowing she was going to regret it, she took his hand and settled comfortably between his legs with her head resting on his chest. Dylan didn’t realized how comfortable she actually was until she couldn’t keep her eyes open. Within minutes she was fast asleep.

Rade also dozed off, but when Dylan began screaming, he was jolted awake. She must have been dreaming. Her arms were going everywhere, hitting and grabbing at him like she was trying to get away. “Get away from me. What do you want? Please stop.”

Rade gently took hold of her arms. “Dylan, baby, stop, you’re having a bad dream.”

When Dylan finally came to, it took her a moment to grasp where she was. When she looked up and saw it was Rade holding her, she began to cry. “I’m sorry Rade. I thought...”

Rade looked at her tear covered face. He slowly moved her soaked hair from her face and softly rubbed his thumb over her soft lips. “It’s okay, Sweetness, I’m here. It’s over. ”

“It was so real.” Dylan began telling him what she dreamt. As she was explaining her dream, she suddenly looked at Rade as if a light came on. “Oh my God, I saw his face. I remember… I remember scratching his face. Rade, I remember.”

Rade pulled her tighter into his arms. She finally remembered what the intruder looked like. Even though she didn’t know what he wanted, he was glad she remembered enough to give a description of the scumbag that hurt her.

When Dylan finished giving Rade the description of the man, he called Richard. He wanted to make sure he got first crack at finding this guy before the cops did. Rade walked out of the room as he gave Richard the details.

“Richard, let me know as soon as you have any leads on this guy. I don’t want anyone else near him, not until I have a little chat with the motherfucker first.”

“You got it, sir. I’ll keep you posted with everything I come up with.”

With Richard having a full description of the man, Rade headed back to the living room where he left Dylan. She was still perched on the couch staring out the window into the Manhattan sky. The last thing he wanted was to startle her, so he walked over to the window she was looking out of. “It's beautiful, isn’t it?” When he didn’t hear a response, he turned and looked at Dylan. He could tell she was deep in thought. “Dylan…” Rade slowly walked over and lowered his hand to her face, gently cupping her cheek. Dylan looked up and put her hand over his. She could feel the warmth in his touch. She knew he cared about what happened to her. She didn’t know if she could give herself to him. Dylan slowly rose to her knees, shifting her body so she could face him. Taking her time, she placed her hands on his chest and moved them upward to his shoulders. Still locking her eyes with his, she wrapped her hands around his neck and slowly pulled him towards her. Wanting nothing more than to kiss his waiting lips, she turned her head instead and tenderly kissed his right cheek. Moving her mouth to his right ear, she softly whispered, “Thank you.” Dylan released him and slowly got up from the couch, leaving in the direction of her room.

  “Dylan, wait.”

Dylan heard his pleading voice behind her. She stopped and turned to face him. Keeping her head lowered, she heard him walking to her. When he was within inches of her, she shyly began lifting her head until their eyes met. She knew it was a mistake. She should have kept her eyes on the floor, because at that moment she was helpless.

Rade gently took her into his arms and placed a tender kiss on her cheek, sweeter than hers moments ago. He couldn’t stop there though. He moved his lips so that every inch of her beautiful face was touched, beginning first on her forehead, then her eyes, her nose, her cheeks. There wasn’t one spot on her face left untouched. He saved the best for last. With no hesitation, he placed his lips over hers. He gently nibbled and sucked her lower lip. When he was satisfied he had given it enough attention, he moved to her upper lip, teasing her in the same manner, coaxing her to let him enter. Finally giving in to him, she parted her lips, allowing him entrance into her warm mouth. With passion, he entwined his tongue with hers. As he lapped and gently sucked, moving back and forth with intricate movement, she heard his soft words. “I want you. Every part of you, Sweetness. You’re so damn beautiful.” Rade gently lifted Dylan into his arms and carried her to his bedroom. He had to have her. He couldn’t wait any longer.

Rade carefully lowered her onto his bed. Leaning over, he slid his hand to her lower back as he eased her onto the bed. He took her mouth once again with only desire in his wake. Her lips were still swollen and soft from their previous kiss as they parted to invite him in.

  “What do you want, Sweetness?”

He wasn’t going to let her walk away from him again. Waiting for her reply, Rade began delicately placing kisses along her neck. Her soft moans sounded as she confirmed her answer.

“I want you, all I want is you.” Those were the sweetest words he ever heard. He wanted nothing more than to be inside her. He needed complete control of her body.

Slowly, he placed his hands to the hem of her t-shirt, giving it a light tug as he carefully pulled it over her head. He would never get enough of this beautiful woman beneath him. Placing tender kisses on her neck, in one movement, he expertly unh
ooked the front clasp of her lacy pink bra. His need to taste her grew. Moving lower down her body, he placed his mouth on one breast while his hand caressed the other. She tasted so good. Sweet with a hint of salty. Her nipple began to harden as he gently sucked and teased it with his tongue. Soft moans resonated like a concerto as he continued his assault on her breasts. Moving to the other breast, he began to lick and kiss, causing her nipple to peak. Both of her nipples were sensitized as she moved to his touch. With every kiss, nip, suck, she could feel the wetness between her legs surge. Rade loved the way her body reacted to his simple touch.

The more her desire began to swell, the tighter her hands gripped the silk sheets. Rade continued to worship her body. He knew she was his. “God, baby, you feel so good.” He needed more. He wanted all of her. Heart, Body, and Soul. Slowly moving his hand towards the button on her jeans, with no hesitation, he unbuttoned her jeans, one, two, three buttons, until he could pull them away. He felt her uneasiness. In a hushed tone, he confessed his desire. “It's okay, baby, I won’t hurt you. Let me make you feel good.” When he felt her relax, he once again lowered his hand to her waist while kissing her lips tenderly. He slowly slid his hand inside the waistband of her panties. He needed to get better access to her sex.

Moving his lips from hers, he softly whispered in her ear. “Lift your hips for me, Sweetness.” Consumed by her need, Dylan lifted her hips for him. Lowering her jeans and panties in one sweep, Rade took in the silkiness of her body. He needed to have her more than ever.

As she lay beneath him, fully exposed, Rade asked her. “Are you okay, Sweetness? I don’t think I can stop if I go any further.”

With a soft tone she said, “I want you, Rade, please don’t stop.”

With those simple words, Rade took her in. He devoured her. Kissing the nape of her neck, her perfect breasts, the center of her abdomen, he consumed every part of her perfectly gorgeous body. His left hand gently cupped her right breast while his right hand moved between her folds. The heat radiated like a volcano ready to erupt.

“I can feel your want for me, Sweetness. You’re so wet for me,” Rade declared.

As he began twisting her nipple between his fingers, he slid one finger inside her. She was so tight and wet. It took all his power not to slip his hard cock inside her. He wanted to savor every minute with her. He had to taste her. Kneeling before her, he took her legs and lifted them over his shoulders. With her ready to be feasted upon, he slowly moved his mouth to the top of her mound, kissing and licking until he found her clit. Dylan’s hips began moving to the rhythm of his movements. Slipping a finger in, he could feel her clamp down. Adding another, he could feel his own pulsation growing as her tight walls consumed him. He didn’t want to hurt her. “Baby you’re so tight.” Soft moans of hunger escaped her sweet lips, making him want her more. “You taste so good, Sweetness. I could eat you for every meal.” Licking and sucking her clit, he could feel the pulsation of her pussy as it began tightening more around his fingers. “Let go, baby. I want you to come.”

At his command, Dylan screamed as she exploded with the most amazing orgasm she ever had. Feeling her quivering body relax, Rade lowered her legs as he pulled from her body. Dusting light kisses on her until he met her lips, her body slowly melted into his. With her juices on his lips, he drove his tongue in her mouth, kissing her without mercy, giving her a sample of her own nectar.

  “Are you okay, Sweetness?”

“Rade, that was… amazing,” she said as she caught her breath.

“Glad to hear it. I’m not done yet. I can’t get enough of you.” Rade lifted his body, propping up on his elbows as he looked down on her.

Kissing her with her juices on his lips was the most erotic thing she had ever experienced. Rade broke their kiss and raised his head so he was looking into Dylan’s lustful eyes. Unable to take his eyes off her, he reached over to the nightstand to grab a condom.

“Shit, don’t move, baby. I’ll be right back.” Rade could have kicked himself for not being better prepared. The last thing he wanted was to break their embrace to grab a fucking condom. Dylan knew what he was after. It was now or never.

“Rade, stop. There’s something you need to know.” Rade stopped and turned in mid-step. He wasn’t sure what Dylan needed to tell him, but he was on a mission and it could wait until after he was deep inside her feeling her warmth around his cock.

“Not now, Sweetness,” he said demandingly.

As Rade turned to make his way to the bathroom, he heard Dylan speak again. “I’ve never been… I mean… I haven’t had…”

Before Dylan could finish, Rade turned around, staring at her. “What are you trying to say, Dylan?”

Dylan lowered her head. “I’m a virgin.”

  CHAPTER EIGHT

Rade couldn’t believe what he just heard. “What the fuck, Dylan? Are you saying you’ve never had a cock inside you? You were engaged, for Christ sake.” Rade was pacing the floor, running his hands through his tousled hair. He didn’t see this coming. He had to think. “Fuck, fuck, fuck. Dylan, I can’t do this now.”

Rade walked to the bathroom and closed the door. He needed to cool off before he could deal with this. The last thing he wanted was to be the one to take a girl's virginity. It was supposed to be taken by someone special. He was far from special, especially since he was just using her to find out what happened to his money and her dead fiancé. He wasn’t expecting her to be a fucking virgin. He was becoming angrier by the minute. He was losing control. Even though he cared for her, he couldn’t take her virginity. Taking a deep breath, he convinced himself he needed do whatever it took in order to get what he needed from her.

  *****

Dylan couldn’t believe she almost made the biggest mistake of her life. She almost allowed Rade to take her. She wanted him so badly that she couldn’t even think straight. Wiping the tears from her face, she slowly got up from his bed. She needed air. She couldn’t face him. Quickly grabbing her clothes, she left his room. Getting to her room, crying even harder, she had to face the fact that Rade didn’t care about her. At least not as much as she thought. If he did, he wouldn’t have left her like that. He would have talked to her and understood why she was saving herself. Instead he left her sitting on his bed feeling rejected and ashamed. She needed to get away from him. Far... far... away.

Without hesitation, Dylan grabbed her coat and purse and left Rade’s penthouse. All she wanted to do was go home. She didn’t even notice that there was no one around to stop her. When she exited the building, the pressure on her chest lessened as the cool air hit her. She felt better even though the tears were still coming down. At least she was able to breathe. She hailed a cab and told the driver where to go.

She was in front of her building. Dylan paid the driver and headed to her apartment. Forgetting she didn’t have her entrance key with her, she buzzed one of the other tenants, hoping they would let her in. Within seconds she was in the building. Seeing her door, she remembered the break-in. If that wasn’t bad enough, she also remembered how it looked when she entered less than a week ago. She wasn’t going to cry anymore. Instead, she was going to focus on getting her place cleaned up.

She decided to start with the kitchen. She grabbed a large garbage bag from under the sink and began cleaning up the broken dishes from the floor. Piece by piece she placed the broken ceramic in the bag. She was trying really hard not to cry, but she couldn’t hold it back. Falling to her knees, she let the floodgates open. Crying hard with loud sobs, she didn’t hear Rade walk up behind her. He didn’t want to startle her, so he softly said her name. “Dylan.”

Hearing his voice behind her, she began wiping the tears from her face, trying to hide her pain. She couldn’t let him to see her this way. Without facing him, she stood wiping the last tear from her face.

“What are you doing here? You made it perfectly clear getting involved with me was a mistake. Please just leave.”

  Rade was in agony over
the words he just heard. “Dylan, please listen to me,” he genuinely pleaded.

Dylan was trying to ignore his presence. Moving away with her back to him, Dylan bent down to clean another area of the kitchen floor, pretending she didn’t hear what he had to say.

Frustrated, Rade needed her to hear him out. “When I started looking for you to explain and you weren’t there, I panicked. I didn’t know where you went. I’ve never dealt with this kind of situation before. I was blindsided. On the way over here, all I could think about was how badly I hurt you. I shouldn’t have left you like that. I’m sorry, Dylan. Please give me another chance.”

Dylan didn’t know what to say. Could she believe his words? She wanted to give him another chance. She just didn’t know if she could. Stepping in front of her, Rade held out his hand to help her up. Stubbornness set in. No way was she about to take his offer. She was still angry and hurt. Standing only to step past him, she looked over her shoulder saying, “You don’t need to worry. I’m fine. I just need to be alone right now.”

There was no way Rade was going to leave her alone in this apartment. “Then I’ll wait until you’re ready to leave.”

Before Dylan could say a word, Rade was out of her apartment, making himself comfortable on the floor outside her door.

She didn’t care. He could sleep out there for all she cared. There was no way she was going back to his penthouse. She only had a couple of days before she would begin her new job and get into the apartment she had waiting for her. She was done depending on him. She needed to get back her independence.

  *****

It was getting dark by the time Dylan finally called it quits. Every muscle in her body hurt and her apartment was still unlivable. It was like she didn’t even make a dent in the mess that was made. It would take a long time before she would be able to replace all her destroyed items, or even pay for the damages. She regretted canceling her renters insurance, but she had no choice since she was strapped for money. She knew it wouldn’t be safe to stay here, but she couldn’t bear to stay with Rade either. Staying in a hotel was also out of the question, and with Lilly gone for the weekend, she only had one option.
