Saving a Legend: A Kavanagh Legends Novel Page 15

by Sarah Robinson

“Fi, I’ve been waiting for this…” He breathed out heavily.

She felt seductive and powerful, and she loved it. “So come get it.”

“I don’t want to rush this,” he told her. “It’s our first time together.”

She smiled warmly at him, her heart feeling like it would burst. “But not our last, Kieran. I want this…I want you.”

At her words, his eyes widened, and then his smile. “Fuck, yes.”

Kieran stalked toward her, scooping an arm around her back to land her on the bed softly so he could cover her body with his own. Their lips devoured one another—sometimes in kisses, other times nibbling and nipping at the flesh on the other’s neck and chest. Hands moved in all directions, cupping, squeezing, holding…she couldn’t tell where one stopped and the other started. He was everywhere.

She moaned as he pushed a knee between her legs, widening her for him. His hand found her and he skillfully manipulated his fingers around her, in her, diving to her very core. He pushed one in slowly, then two, filling her completely. He thrust in and out as his thumb circled her clit in wide, firm circles. Her back arched off the bed, and she moaned; it didn’t take long for the drawn-out stimulation from the entire evening to bring her to climax. Her body shuddered and shook before falling limp and spent beneath him.

“You come so hard for me, Fi. I fucking love it,” he told her, his voice husky and deep in her ear. He lifted his hand to his mouth and licked his fingers, a sight that made her feel delirious with excitement. “I want a lot more of that from you tonight,” he told her.

“I don’t think I can,” she said on an exhale, still trying to catch her breath from her orgasm.

Kieran chuckled and dropped his lips to one of her nipples, then the other, for several slow, tormenting moments. “Challenge accepted.”

Fearing that he was telling the truth, and knowing her legs felt as if they might never move again, Fiona decided to go on the offensive. Reaching into his boxers, she gripped his shaft and freed him from the confining fabric.

A wicked grin crossed her face as she spread her legs and guided him to her entrance, but instead of welcoming him in, she slid him up and down against her wet center. His shaft now coated with her wetness, she moved her hands up and down him, alternating between squeezing and gently tugging.

Kieran’s arms shook as he held himself above her. His chin dropped to his chest as he watched her touch him. The way she made him shiver and moan felt intoxicating and brought her arousal back full force. She continued stroking him with one hand as her other hand brazenly cupped his balls, earning a loud grunt of pleasure from him.

“Fuck, Fiona. You need to stop or I’ll finish in your hand,” he told her, his breath shallow against her temple.

Fiona let her tongue flicker out, grazing across his neck. “You can if you want to.”

He moaned louder, but then determination seeped into his voice. “I don’t want to. I want to be buried so deep inside of you that I can’t tell where I end and you begin. I want to feel you pulse around my cock and come for me again.”

Fiona exhaled sharply, completely unable to find words adequate for the delicious picture he painted for her. All she could do was nod, so she did. Letting go of him, her hands fell to either side as he reached into the nightstand to grab protection. Ripping the foil with his teeth, he rolled the condom onto his erection and then pushed her legs wide, bending her knees as he lowered himself to her entrance again.

Fiona bit her lip as he began to push inside her, stretching her in the best way. He growled with pleasure at the new sensation, burying his face in her neck and biting down hard. She cried out, mostly from surprise, because it didn’t really hurt. Instead, it sent shock waves through her body that resonated in her core and vibrated perfectly. His hands pushed down on her hips, forcing himself inside her as deep as he could possibly go.

“You feel fucking amazing, Fi. Like you were made for me.”

“Yes, oh, please don’t stop,” she begged, her fingers clutching his back.

He smiled and did as she asked, thrusting deep and slow, then fast and hard. Her insides ached and quivered as he hit every nerve ending inside her at the perfect angle. His hand slid to one breast, squeezing and pulling her nipple so expertly, she felt almost dizzy.

Fiona panted as she felt another climax coming. “I’m close, Kieran. Oh, I’m so close.”

“Touch yourself,” he commanded, moving his hand from her nipple and guiding one of her hands between them to press her fingers against her clit. “Make yourself come as I watch you.”

She stared at him, blushing hard. “What? I can’t…”

“You can.” Wrapping his fingers around hers, he guided her hand in smooth circles over her clit. He increased the pressure while he thrust in and out of her slowly.

Fiona groaned and threw her head back, her chest heaving and her back bowing off the bed. It took only another few seconds before her next orgasm slammed through her and she jolted against him. He didn’t let her stop, despite her inability to control her own limbs anymore. Continuing to circle over her clit, he pushed her climax longer and harder, until she was sure she was going to pass out.

Just then he let go and slammed himself inside her. Hard. She groaned as her whole body spilled over into a second wave at the force of his thrust. He thrust several more times until he exploded inside her, grunting as he pressed himself as deep as possible.

Fiona just lay there, eyes closed, trying to catch her breath. Never in her life had she experienced this level of bliss before, and her entire body was humming in response.

“Hell, Fi.” He buried his face in her neck with a growl. “I don’t know why we haven’t been doing that since day one.”

“Me, either,” she said with a laugh. “Let’s do it again.”

  Chapter 13

Slowly blinking awake, Fiona yawned and wondered why she felt so rested. It’d been years, or maybe never, since she’d woken up feeling ready for the day. She was so used to running on empty, it’d become second nature to her. However, with the sun shining through her windows and warming her face, she felt peaceful and satisfied.

Until she realized those weren’t her windows and she wasn’t in her room.

Remembering she was in Kieran’s bed, a nervous flutter ran through her.

She reached for the nightstand and clutched her phone. Pressing the power button, she saw the screen didn’t respond. Dread filled her, and she told herself to calm down. She’d forgotten to plug in her phone before falling asleep last night and, in doing so, had slept right past her alarm.

Shea was with Dee and was most likely fine, but still, Fiona needed to charge her phone and check. She spent every morning waking up next to and caring for her sister, so Shea’s potential reaction to this change in her morning schedule made Fiona anxious.

Turning her head, she found Kieran’s sleeping face only inches from her. His arms were curled around the pillow beneath his head as he slept on his stomach. He had one leg draped across both of hers, and his breathing was soft and rhythmic.

As sweet at he looked there next to her, she gently slid out from under him and grabbed the shirt he’d discarded last night from the floor. Pulling it over her naked frame, she tiptoed out of the bedroom and into his kitchen, where she found her purse sitting on the counter. Relieved, she wrenched it open and quickly located her phone charger, which she plugged into a socket over his counter.

Leaning against the granite, she waited for the phone to slowly lurch back to life. After an excruciatingly long minute, she managed to check her messages and found a text from Dee telling her that Shea had slept all night without waking. Blushing for a moment as she tried to push the thought out of her mind that Dee certainly knew what she had been doing last night and who she’d been doing it with, Fiona tapped out a reply asking if Shea was doing well this morning, too.

It’d been a while since Shea had gone through a morning without her. Fiona hoped
that Dee’s presence would be enough to keep her sister from feeling too disrupted. Her fears were pushed away a moment later when Dee’s quick response assured her that Shea was eating her eggs and had gotten herself ready that morning without any issues. Despite her initial panic, Fiona trusted Dee and knew that Shea was fine. As much as she wanted to, she knew she couldn’t coddle Shea forever.

After sending a final thank-you text, she put her phone down to let it keep charging before tiptoeing back to the bedroom. With each step she took, she was cognizant of the sore throbbing between her legs. She could still feel how he had been pressed against her last night, and it was enough to make her smile. When she got back to the bedroom, Kieran hadn’t moved, still spread across the bed and breathing deeply. She approached and lifted his arm slowly, crawling underneath and settling against him. He didn’t wake, and she found herself matching her breathing to his, watching him in wonderment.

He was the reason she felt at peace, and the cause of the gentle ache between her legs from their night together. Despite having spent a week trying to keep him at arm’s length and her feelings at bay, last night she’d given in to both him and herself. He made her feel wanted and cared for, two things she hadn’t ever truly felt.

She’d spent her entire adult life reading romance novels, wishing for that kind of gravitational pull toward someone. The kind where the moment he walked into your life, everything you once thought you knew was tossed out of orbit. The kind where the cynical disbelief didn’t stand a chance next to his perfect blue eyes. Now here it was, hidden beneath slumbering eyelids.

Moving slowly to avoid waking him, she turned on her side and lifted a hand to gently caress the side of his face. Her fingertip moved over the hard ridge of his cheekbone, down the length of his stubbled jaw. The heat from his skin warmed her, soothed her. He wasn’t even awake, and yet he was reminding her that she was alive, that she deserved this, that she deserved to be happy.

He made her happy. And she realized she could do this. She could be this person, open to others and trusting that they’d be there to care for her if she needed them. She could trust Kieran; she could let him in.

“You’re staring,” he said softly, startling her.

Her fingers retracted instantly as she flushed, not just a crimson stain to her cheeks but a full body blush. Her skin heated and tingled as the rumble of his voice transported her back to the memory of everything they’d done the night before. “I didn’t know you were awake.”

“I wasn’t until you touched me like that. Then every part of me woke up.” He moved an arm to encircle her and draw her near.

“Oh.” She gulped, butterflies invading her stomach. “Every part of you?”

He rolled onto his side and lifted up the blanket covering them. Fiona glanced down automatically, seeing what he meant. Her jaw dropped as she was reminded of how large he was. Clearly proud of himself, he rolled on top of her and pinned her to the bed beneath him, pressing his length against her lower stomach.

“I like waking up to you next to me,” he whispered as he kissed his way down her neck.

“I like it, too,” she replied, smiling as she realized how true that was.

He grabbed a condom from the nightstand, tearing open the foil and sliding it on. Wrapping her legs around his hips, she was eager for a repeat performance of last night. She clutched his upper arms, and the feeling of his firm biceps beneath her fingers caused a jolt to run straight through to her core. Pressing her hips upward against him, she stifled a moan as his tip met her entrance.

“Fiona.” He sank into her, more than ready to be with her again. Slowly, then all at once, he filled her, letting out a low groan as he did. “You feel so amazing. I could do this all day.”

“What’s stopping you?” She squeezed tighter around him.

“Uh, dinner with my family. It’s Sunday.” He kissed down her jaw, nibbling here and there, not realizing right away that her body had frozen beneath him.

“Fi, what’s wrong?” Kieran asked, frowning as he looked down at why she’d grown still.

“Maybe we shouldn’t talk about your family while you’re inside me?” she said, her nose crinkling at the thought.

“Good call.” He laughed before lifting her hips off the bed and plunging deeper inside her. They began moving in rhythm with each other, and Fiona closed her eyes in ecstasy.

Gripping her hips harder, he held her against him as he leaned into the bed and shifted her to be seated on top of him instead. Fiona gasped and her hands flew to his chest to steady herself. Once she was realigned, she grinned down at him and lifted her hips, only to press down again, and again, and blissfully again.

Kieran’s hands moved up her body, caressing as he went, before finally cupping her breasts and running his thumbs back and forth against her nipples. He pinched lightly before soothing with a kiss as she leaned down to give him access. Her hips rolled harder as she sought friction to bring her over the edge.

With his lips sealed around one nipple, and then the other, his tongue flickering over the tip, she felt his hands roam down her sides to her back, then scooping her ass. He clutched her cheeks, massaging them between his fingers as he pulled her up and down on top of him. The movement allowed her most sensitive bundle of nerves to rub against him, sparking and igniting within.

He lifted his hips to meet hers, quickening his pace as she neared climax. With a shuddering groan, he pressed into her with all he had, and she felt her body convulse, like undulating waves. He cradled her against him as she fell to his side and stretched the length of him.

Kieran angled his body to face her, folding his arm under his head for support. She watched as he brought his large, strong hands up her body, only to trail his fingers softly down her shoulder and all the way to her hips.

“Every Sunday should be like this. Hell, every day should,” he told her.

She sighed dreamily at the thought. “I wish.”

“Well, why can’t it? I don’t want this to be just one night, flower girl.”

She searched for a teasing smile or some hint of insincerity but found none. He was serious, and it warmed her heart. “Don’t you worry that this is all too fast?”

“It is fast. You’re right,” he agreed, and Fiona found herself disappointed that he felt the same way. She realized that she wanted to be convinced otherwise, that she wanted all the things he was offering and promising, but she was still scared. She wondered if there would ever be a day when she wasn’t.

“But just because it’s fast doesn’t mean it’s not right, Fi. I’ve spent the last few years living a life of no choices, no responsibilities, no freedom. Then I came home, and I’m here with you, and you’re my choice. You’re what I want, Fiona, and I don’t need time to know that.”

A faint smile tilted up the corner of her lips as her heart beamed at his sentiment. “Really?”

“Really,” he promised, brushing his lips over hers before kissing her softly. He dropped his head back onto the pillow and curved an arm around her.

Fiona found herself wondering what he meant by a life of no choices, of not being home. She’d been distracted by the sweetness of his words, she’d missed everything else. Not wanting to ruin the afterglow of their lovemaking and the way his arms felt around her, she decided to wait to ask another day. Instead, she was going to give herself the break she needed, so she let her eyes flutter closed as she draped an arm over his chest.

“Since when are these things optional?” Kieran asked his mom as they stood in his parents’ kitchen with Rory and Quinn.

“Sunday dinners are not optional, but Jimmy’s stuck at work,” Dee countered, tossing a salad in a large decorative bowl.

“It was optional for you for two years.” Rory grinned at Kieran, prodding him with his elbow before dropping his hand back down to pet Ace’s head. The two were literally never apart.

“Shut up,” Kieran replied with a harder prod to Rory’s ribs. />
“Maybe I should become a cop. Then I can use the work excuse on a Sunday, too,” Quinn chimed in, picking a grape tomato out of the salad bowl and popping it in his mouth. Dee smacked his hand away.

“Yeah, right,” Rory and Kieran said in unison.

“What? You don’t think I can be a cop? Jimmy’s younger than all of us, and he made it through academy,” Quinn postured, standing defensively with his hands on his hips.

Kieran laughed. “Because he’s straight-laced, a rule follower, and kind of a stick in the mud. You’re covered in so many piercings and tattoos that a bad guy would only need a magnet to beat you.”

Rory and Dee both joined in laughing as Quinn rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. He’d gotten even more tattoos since Kieran had been gone, his arms now completely covered by tattoo sleeves. A few crept up his neck, and Kieran figured there were more on his chest and back, although he hadn’t personally checked and wasn’t planning to.

“What’s so funny?” Seamus walked into the room and kissed Dee on her temple, hugging her sideways as he, too, reached into the salad and stole a tomato.

“Quinn wants to be a cop.” Dee tried to conceal the smirk on her face. She was never one to cut her kids down, always telling them that they could do whatever they wanted. However, Kieran could tell that the thought of Quinn as a cop was a little hard even for her to wrap her head around.

“Ace has a better chance of making K-9 than Quinn does of making cop.” Seamus nodded to his son’s big black-and-white dog.

“Ace would make a kickass K-9.” Quinn dropped his tough stance and laughed in agreement.

Kieran admired him for that, his ability to take everything in stride. He was always lighthearted, easy to please. It was one of the reasons he did so well managing Legends with their dad: his customer service skills were the best. He enjoyed the business aspect of it more than the fighting, although he did have some wicked moves in the ring.
