  Chapter 5

  The Results

It would soon be time to take Careena back to see Tera. Tylar was both hopeful and terrified about what they might be told. There was also trouble brewing around Jorgr who had volunteered to go undercover on Earth with the company that they suspected was trying to sabotage them in order to prevent them from opening their own Oison weed processing plant. It had only been a couple weeks but Jorgr was already in the thick of things with some information that pointed toward the new CEO of that company. The man’s father had died leaving him in control of the company valued at mega billions.

Tylar was cooking breakfast as he watched Careena calm the twins and get them seated ready to eat. One of the young Mazlans that sat with the twins occasionally had come early. He sat at the table too talking to the twins. They had privacy in their lives, but the support of the community when they needed it. On Earth some derisively called it communal living. His opinion was don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

“Breakfast is ready. Darion and Jarion, line up and I’ll fill your plates.” The boys jumped up eager to get fed. As soon as they were back at the table he looked at Dorvir who didn’t need to be told it was his turn. Once that was done, he deftly plated Careena’s food and his own.

They all sat eating as a family but no one said much. The twins and the Dorvir were concentrating on eating while he and Careena were both focused on the trip they were about to make. Reaching out a hand, he squeezed her arm. “It will be alright.” It was obvious she was worried because of the way she moved her food around on her plate.

She gave him a half smile which was the best she could do. “I know.” She said but he could tell she was just humoring him. Her appetite just wasn’t there and his had fled.

“Dorvir, we are leaving now. The boys are only to go outside with you there as well.”

Dorvir’s eyes lit up with excitement. Mazlans loved obstacle courses and the one in their backyard was set up for any age group. Tylar had no doubt they would be running through it until the three of them dropped from exhaustion.

  “Yes, Tylar.” He answered respectfully.

“We should be back before lunch but if not, there is food in the blue container that you can eat cold.”

The young male nodded his understanding. If they left now they would only be minutes early. There was no point in hanging around. “It’s alright. We can go.” Careena whispered. She often knew what he was thinking. It was uncanny at times.

He helped her up because she was often tired even in the mornings after sleeping all night. That worried him more than anything else but at least she said the pain she’d had before Tera had given her the shot was gone. Tylar led her out to the hover car helping her in before getting in himself. This trip would finally give them the answers they needed. Was the shot effective and if so, why was Careena so exhausted all the time? Heading out, worries ran through his mind until his inner demon became agitated. Calming him was impossible so he mentally locked him away. The sound of his demon howling echoed around his mind.

They pulled up in front of medical and he helped Careena out. She was pale which concerned him. Inside they had barely made it into Tera’s office when Careena ran to the bathroom losing her breakfast. “Are you alright?” Tylar asked her when she came out of the small washroom looking anything but well.

“I just don’t know. Maybe it was just nerves?” She asked hopefully.

“We’ll find out exactly what it was.” Tera promised as she motioned for Careena to get on the examination table. Tylar lifted her onto it because he was afraid she might fall. She lay back pulling in a deep breath and he hoped she would relax.

Tera was all business pulling out the scanner to move up and down Careena’s form. It was hard to read her expression except for a brief hint of surprise. The doctor scanned Careena at least two more times which made Tylar wonder what the scans showed.

“I have good news. The shot is working and her gall bladder isn’t the cause of her exhaustion.” Tera observed.

“Is that good news if something else is wrong?” Careena asked.

“Actually it is. The cause of your exhaustion is the babies you are carrying. Since you mated Tylar your body is changing but it hasn’t been quick enough to balance the stresses of carrying Mazlan babies. You now need certain vitamins and minerals that humans don’t normally need. Change in your diet and some supplements should help with the tiredness. You’ll feel better for a couple months but you’ll have another bout of tiredness once the babies are near the point of delivery.”

“Babies?” Tylar asked as sweat beaded on his forehead and he could hear the pounding of his heart in his ears.

“Yes, three heartbeats mean three babies. Congratulations parents!” Tera beamed at them. “This will be the first pregnancy I monitor from conception to delivery. I’ll admit I’m excited.”

Tylar felt dizzy for the first time in his life. He stumbled to a chair to sit. Everything around him seemed to grind to a halt except Tera who was talking to Careena. His Careena who might be placed in danger trying to carry three offspring because of him.

He felt a cold cloth being wiped over his face. As he looked up he realized Careena was taking care of him. “You must hate me.”

She looked at him confused. “Why would I hate you?”

“You’re ill and now you will be at risk trying to carry our babies.”

“I can tell you weren’t listening. Tera said there is only a small risk and if it becomes too much for me, she has ordered an artificial womb that the babies can be placed in if I can’t carry to term. It’s amazing what medical advances you have here.”

“It’s true. Everything will be fine.” Tera said with a smile. “First time fathers have even been known to pass out.”

“I didn’t pass out.” Tylar objected. Inside he felt relief that Careena would be alright and so would the babies.

“It’s alright my strong mate.” Careena soothed his inner demon.

Tylar smiled. He was going to have more children to love, guide, and run through obstacle courses. Life was good. Tera pushed a bag of supplements for Careena into his hands and gave him instructions on taking them and what she should eat. Taking care of his mate was his honor and a joy.

Helping her up from the table, he guided her out the door to the car. Opening the car door he helped her into her seat before engaging the seat belt. All he could think about was how much she meant to him. The ride home was short and quiet. They were both thinking about the new additions to their family, he had no doubt. Tylar thought the boys would be thrilled and so would Lista. Narcissi on the other hand was an unknown in every way.

Just before they entered, his com buzzed. It was his assistant who had found out where Narcissi was. She had mated two males. It had originally been three but one male had backed out after she had attacked him. In group matings, one male was the head of the family. Harlan was the head male in Narcissi’s family. Tylar knew Harlan even though he was several years younger than Tylar. Harlan was a supervisor in the mines. The male was a born leader and someday would be a manager.

Now Tylar had to decide if he should share this information with Careena or not. It was his fear that seeing Narcissi would be a bad thing and upset his newly pregnant mate. But if he didn’t tell her and she found out, she would be angry and hurt. The twins ran to greet them with the young Mazlan watching them trailing behind. Tylar let the babysitter go so they could have a family discussion.

“Boys, your mom and I have something exciting to tell you.” Tylar announced then he looked to Careena.

“We are giving you some siblings.” She added.

“That means we won’t be the youngest anymore.” Darion said. He didn’t sound happy.

“It means you are growing up and will have younger brothers or sisters to teach and watch out for.”

“We can do that.” Jarion said with a look at Darion who nodded.

It seemed the twins weren’t su
re if they were ready for younger siblings but he was sure that it would all work out.

  Epilogue

In the end, Tylar took Careena to visit Narcissi and her two mates. Her daughter was the most subdued Tylar had seen her but maybe that was because she was also expecting a baby. Havlar and Blindar both met with Careena’s approval which was as he’d expected. Both were loving and strong males that would do anything to see her daughter happy. When they left, he could tell Careena felt better for having seen her daughter even though they hadn’t talked much.

There was little he could do to change the situation with Narcissi but maybe once she became a mother herself she would be kinder to her own mother. At least the rest of the family had been supportive of Careena. Even the twins were now excited about the babies their mother carried in her belly. The only dark spot in an otherwise perfect life was the continued sabotage and the worry over Jorgr who had not contacted them in over a week now. If they didn’t hear from him soon they would have to send someone else in to save him.

Razar’s daughter was doing well and Travlr’s mate Tammie was well rounded with their child. Tylar suspected all the mates would be delivering within the year. A whole new generation would be let loose upon the planet one after the other. At least they would have plenty of friends their own age to play with.

Tylar pulled up to their new home with Careena and the twins in the car with him. Excitement made everything seem brighter and crisper as he helped them out and led them to the door. The boys ran into the house shouting with enthusiasm as they picked out their new rooms.

“The house is perfect.” Careena said with a huge smile. The kitchen was a dream for any cook. Tylar had gone the extra mile to ensure it would please her. Their master suite was also the epitome of luxury. The deep jetted bath, a separate shower, a dressing area for her complete with a vanity for her makeup and jewelry, and the toilet inside its own room made it perfect. The boys would share a bathroom that was located between their bedrooms.

“I hoped you would like it.” Tylar would do anything for this female that he claimed as his. He barely remembered the life he’d had before she had tamed his demon. Never did he ever want to contemplate life without her.

“You promised it would be ready before the babies arrived and you did it.” Her hand rested on her well rounded belly. She was only halfway through her pregnancy but she had adjusted to carrying the babies so she wasn’t as tired as before.

“I never want to let you down.” Tylar admitted.

“You never could.” She said as he drew her into his arms to gently kiss her.

“Yuck, I can’t believe you want to kiss a girl.” Jarion sneered.

  “Especially a mom.” Darion added.

“Mom’s need love too.” Careena observed.

“Mom’s are the best girls to kiss.” Tylar teased.

The boys took off running after making grossed out faces. “They’ll get used to it.”

“They better because I don’t intend to stop kissing you ever.” Tylar promised.

Life was good, not just for him but for most Mazlans. Jorgr had been gone for two months but if he got back soon, he would be entered in the mating games. The gods seemed to favor their family since the matings had gone faster than would have been possible if they’d had to wait on the games. Tylar wondered what Jorgr was going through and if he would come home in time. Maybe he had even met a sweet human female and was wooing her now.

It was time to get moved into their home. This would be where Tylar would raise his children and love their mother. Looking around, he had a good feeling about the future they would have here. The twins came whooping back into the room and he caught them both in a bear hug. Right now life was good, very good.

  Jorgr

  Book 7

Jorgr walked into the office where the female sat busy typing without looking up for long moments. She was breathtaking until she finally looked up then she was so gorgeous words could not describe her. The only thing that came to mind as he stared into lovely violet eyes was mine!

Georgette hurried to finish the last of the document she needed to send as quickly as possible. Nothing prepared her for the gorgeous man who was standing across from where she sat at her desk. Her heart skipped a beat and she considered flirting before she remembered her whole life was a lie and she couldn’t let anyone close enough to find that out.

When it all goes to hell, can Jorgr save her? Will he have to out himself to do it? Earth is a bad place for these two star crossed lovers but if they make the right decisions maybe they will find a happy ending.
