He looked up at the sky. “Thanks, old man. You were more of a father than that bastard was. I wish you were here to see Henry. Yeah, sap I am. We named him after you. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here now with Stormy and my son. I promise you, I’ll be the kind of father you were to me. I’ll carry your legacy with me, not his, yours. He might have fathered me, but you made a man out of me. You made me worthy of her.”
Slowly, he folded the letter back up and returned it to the glass case before closing and locking it. Bender took one last look at Henry Murdoch’s life, his badge, the folded flag, his picture, and the letter he’d found in his belongings after he died. It’d been a year since he was shot down helping Bender save Stormy. He had terminal cancer and knew he had nothing to lose, and they had everything to gain.
As Bender walked out of the house, Stormy looked up at him. She had so much trust in him. She knew where he came from, and knew with all of her heart he would never become his father. She had nothing to worry about. When he sat down next to her, she closed her book and snuggled in close to him. Who would have thought big bad Bender had a soft side. Murdoch, that’s who, and he’d made sure, before he left this world, the man he thought of as a son was taken care of, by making sure he had someone to love and cherish.

Melissa Loring was a successful author. She was happy living in her home at the base of the mountains in Tucson with her assistant Hannah Mills. First the phone call came, they wanted to make one of her books into a movie. Within six months she was flying out to Los Angeles and talking with the studio about the final script and a list of actors to play the roles. Excited about her lunch meeting she is shocked when her muse for one of the characters walks in and sits down at the table with her.
Will Martinsson was riding high on his fame and loving every minute of it. He travels the world meeting his legions of fans and picking which roles he wanted. When the script was presented to him, he read it and was intrigued, then he found out the author had modeled the character after him he searched out information on her, his interest was piqued. He told the studio he wanted in, but he also wanted to meet her before he would sign on the dotted line.
When two independent successful people meet and have a strong connection
there is nothing they can do but see where the dream takes them.
She lives with her husband and son in Arizona, which is a big difference from where she grew up north of Chicago, Illinois. As an only child she learned to tell herself stories to make the long winters go by quicker while dreaming of summer vacations. As an adult, she still makes up stories to pass the time, but now she writes them down to share with other people.
M. Stratton spends her days plotting new ways to surprise her readers. She eloped after knowing her husband for only two months in 2006; they welcomed their son right after Thanksgiving in 2007. She loves to have fun with her son and husband, and starts planning Halloween on November 1st of every year.
