Outside the Jukebox Page 23

by Scott Bradlee

Postmodern Jukebox live in Prague in June 2014. I brought my trusted red keyboard on this European adventure, the first of our many tours abroad.

Signing a head in Amsterdam. My internal monologue at the time of this photo is clearly, “How did my life turn out this way?”

Playing a New York City homecoming show at Best Buy Theatre, with Puddles making a guest appearance.

Haley Reinhart, moments before filming “Habits,” her Postmodern Jukebox debut.

Taking the cast bowling in Germany during our 2015 European tour.

Setting up our new studio at Bro Mountain.

Nicole Atkins, just before recording the Postmodern Jukebox version of “Heroes.” The track went on to feature in a Heineken PSA that aired during the World Series.

Starting off 2016 with our biggest show yet at the Roundhouse in London, England.

The PMJ tour bus makes a pit stop at my childhood home in New Jersey to surprise my #1 fans: Mom and Dad (front and back in the center). My mom’s reaction was priceless.

Setting up for our first video shoot at PMJ Manor. Our video sets had come a long way from my Queens, New York, basement.

Morgan, Haley, and Ariana perform “All About That Bass” live at Radio City Music Hall, New York City.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Writing a book was the hardest creative project I’ve ever attempted. When I began, I thought that I could probably write this entire thing in about three months’ time, based on my previous experience writing term papers back in college. I was off by about two years.

The first draft of this book was something of a disjointed mess of ideas and stories, and I want to first and foremost thank Amanda Brower for helping to shape it into a work that I am very proud to have written. Special thanks also to my editor, David Lamb, at Hachette for his additional editing work and guidance, my literary agent, Richard Abate, for taking an interest in my story and doing all the agent stuff required to get it published, and my entire Postmodern Jukebox team—Jaron, Scott Mantell, and Craig Bruck at ICM; my staff and crew; and our family of talented performers and collaborators—for giving me so many amazing stories to tell. And, of course, Mom, Dad, and my sister, Mollie—my first fans.
