“No, Ayla, it was all you,” he whispered. “The only thing I did was ruin some statutes, which got your attention…”
“So you’re saying I should blackmail you more often?” I teased.
“Hmm…it’ll be like incriminating dating.” He kissed my brow and my neck, then found my lips once more.
I giggled against him. “That sounds like a good title for a newspaper article.”
He groaned. “I said I wanted to read your articles, not be in them.”
As we made our way back downstairs, I knew one thing was for sure—Luke Pressler was my real boyfriend. And I loved him.

First, I have to thank Stacy for inviting me to write another book for her. Thank you so very much for believing in me and brainstorming with me (and learning that hayrides are for real—LOL). You make the writing journey fun! Also, thank you, Alexa, for your awesome editorial feedback; you’ve helped to make this story so much better.
Thank you to my lovely daughter, Erin, and my sister, Rachel, for bugging me about this story idea for like three years. Your nagging finally paid off and a home was found for Ayla and Luke.
Thanks to my agent, Fran Black, who lets me write the stories I love and champions my work. You’ve always had my back, and I can’t thank you enough for that.
Also a shout-out to my hubby, Tim, who lets me disappear for hours at a time to create these stories and characters that live in my head. I love you more than words can say!
To my kids for their love, support, and understanding…
