Jaden and Quin kissed her gently and then left with the rest of the people who had congregated in their bedroom after the attack.
Chapter 8
Cami settled into the bed and watched as the doctor and Grace spoke from the corner before turning to her. She knew they wanted to talk to her about something; she just did not have a clue what it could be. By all indications, she should be dead. She knew that.
Grace turned to her first, smiled, sat on the bed next to her, and reached for her hand.
“Cami, the doctor, and I have something to tell you, but first I need to explain a few things. Werewolves have a different chemistry than humans.”
“I know, Lola said something about that. She said the medication she gave me would not work the same on her, that is why she chose it.” Cami said smiling at the old woman. If that was all she had to tell her, it was good.
“So, when she gave you the drug, at first it worked like it was supposed to, you lost control of your body and by all rights you should be dead.” Grace continued looking at her closely.
Cami was not sure what she was supposed to be getting from this. Then the light bulb lit in her head. “Wait, why did I recover? Shit, am I a wolf now?”
“No, you are not.” The doctor said smiling at her. Cami frowned and sat there for a few minutes before answering.
“Well you got me, why?” She shrugged.
“You got a little help from a wolf.” Grace said gently.
“No, there were only two people in the room. Lola and I, and she sure as hell did not help me.” Cami said dryly.
“Well, you are partially right. She would not have helped you, but there were three people in the room.” Grace said and smiled more.
“Three?” She said frowning.
“Lola, you and your child, were the only ones in the room.” The doctor announced and Cami's mouth dropped open.
She reached instinctively for her stomach and looked down. “Excuse me?” She said.
“What the doctor is trying to say is that you are carrying the next generation Alpha. The drug did not work because your child fought it for you.” Grace said laying her hand on top of hers.
“Child? Me? Pregnant?” Cami said shocked. “Wait, did the drug hurt the baby?”
“No. Lola was correct, that drug only works as a stimulant on wolves. Therefore, I would venture to guess the little peanut is doing cartwheels right now, but otherwise fine. You may feel weird for a few days, until the drug is all the way out of your system.
We will have to watch you, of course, over the next few months. You are a human, carrying the next Alpha. This will truly bring out the crazies, but I think your men will take care of you.” The doctor said.
“Oh my, what about the guys? We have never even discussed kids. What if they wanted to wait?” Cami said and frowned.
“I really do not think you have to worry so much about that. You should be more worried about them smothering you.” Grace chuckled and stood up. “That went better than I could have hoped. Doc, do what you need to.” Cami settled back and watched as the doctor pulled out supplies to check her over. She was trying to think of how she was going to tell the guys when the doctor frowned and then smiled bigger if that was possible.
Cami was in a state of shock when the doctor and Grace left the room. She had sworn the two to secrecy, and then told them to send the boys in. Cami asked Grace for something special and then laid back and waited.
It did not take long for Quin and Jaden to come into the bedroom. They looked at her with relief, then came, and sat on either side of her feeling the need to touch her.
Cami sighed, leaned her head against Quin's shoulder and taking Jaden"s hand, and placed it on her leg. Finally, it seemed like the light at the end of the tunnel could be seen.
“Guys, I really want to celebrate tonight, but I am really tired. Do you think if I gave you a list of stuff, you could get it while I take a nap?” She said and yawned.
“Of course, baby, after you tell us the doctor said you were okay.” Quin said and gently kissed her.
“Yeah, I am not going anywhere until I know you will be okay.” Jaden said.
“I am fine.” She said grinning. Cami heard the knock on the door, and she scrambled to get the door before they did.
Grace handed her the bottle of apple juice, glasses, and left the room. Cami poured each of them a glass and went back to the bed.
“Uh, thanks. Darlin" I think that after today we may need something a little stronger for this celebration.” Jaden drawled.
“Yeah, I am pretty sure I need something to calm these nerves. When they called down and said you had tried to overdose, I went nuts. I am pretty sure I have gray hair now.” Quin said and took his glass.
Cami grinned and said. “Well you had better get used it, well for at least the next few months. It really would not be fair would it? Trust me after today I need a stiff drink to but I don"t think that would be wise.”
“Why? What is wrong?” Quin said sharply.
“I knew the doc was lying. Cami is still sick.” Jaden said and sat up in the bed.
“No, not exactly sick. Although, the morning will be a little dicey for the next few months, I would say about three to be exact. I will make a list of things I can have and cannot have. In addition, I want to get moving on redecorating. Here is the list.” Cami said and watched as the men read down the shopping list that included a crib and diapers.
Quin threw the list on the bed and jumped up. “Really?” He said and Jaden, a little slower, finally caught on and jumped up too.
Cami smiled as her men placed their hands on her stomach. “One for each. You guys are lethal. Therefore, I will need two of everything.” Both of the men yelled loudly and spun her around. Cami hoped the rest of the Pack would be as happy.
