Lose Control Page 9

Tears welled in her eyes. Myles didn’t need any help in the romantic arena. He’d just nailed that one, and she reached out to take the key from him. “Yes, Myles. A thousand times, yes. I love you, too.”

A broad smile formed on his lips and he lifted himself off the ground. When he was standing on two feet again, she launched herself into his arms. Who cared if they hadn’t passed their one-month anniversary yet? If it felt right, then you jumped on and rode that ride for all it was worth. That had been her philosophy from the beginning, and she didn’t regret a minute or a decision along the way. And as soon as she could, Cassie was heading to her apartment to pack her things faster than a kid jazzed-up on sugar and Red Bull. She couldn’t wait to start playing house with him.

He twirled her around and then moved to cradle her against his chest as he carried her toward the porch. “Never has anyone said anything to me that sounded so damn perfect as you telling me you love me. I want to hear you say that each and every day for the rest of our lives, and as soon as the time is right—and it will be soon—the next time you see me get down on one knee, it will be to make you my wife. I want the whole package, Cassie. The house. Marriage. Kids. And I’m not going to stop until we get there.”

Cassie smiled, already knowing her answer would be the same. How could she not say yes? Myles was the one. He was right for her in all the right ways, and with him, she wanted every bit of that life. Getting married. Starting a family. Having the stability her mother had always talked about. That wasn’t settling down into something mundane and ordinary. That was falling in love, and she couldn’t think of anything more exciting.

“You know, Myles. You’re going to have to try harder, because I’m still not scared.”

She reached down to unlock the door as he chuckled at her comment, and when she straightened back into his arms again, Myles carried Cassie over the threshold of their new house. “Welcome home, baby. I love you.”

“I love you, too.” Pushing the door shut behind them, she grabbed his face and kissed him. There would be plenty of time to look around later. Right now, all that mattered, all she could think about, was making the man she loved…lose control.
