“Temple is up at bat.”His lips are back at my ear.“Here’s the pitch…and it’s out of here…HOMERUN!”I know everyone is on their feet cheering but I can’t hear anything but the pounding of my heart in my ears. Gavin is on his feet clapping and high fiving everyone around him and here I sit flustered. He’s seriously got me all worked up and there isn’t a damn thing I can do about it. He reaches down grabbing my hand and pulls me up. He wraps his right arm around my waist and pulls me into his chest. He plants a hard but quick kiss on my lips before moving his lips to my ear. He whispers,“Follow me.”
Gavin leads me out of the Party Deck and heads down the hall. He’s taking such long, quick strides I have to practically run to keep up with him. We turn a corner and he looks around before turning the doorknob to one of the offices. Leading me in, he quickly shuts and locks the door without turning on the light. There is a small desk lamp on but it doesn’t offer much light. Gavin grabs me by my waist and backs me against the door, the weight of his body pressing me into the door. His lips are on mine. His left hand moves to the back of my neck while his right moves up under my shirt until he’s cupping my breast running his thumb over my nipple.
“Gavin, what are you doing?”I ask breathlessly.
“Just covering my bases, baby.”He says giving me a devilish smirk.
“We’re going to get caught.”I squeak out.
“Don’t worry. This is my buddy’s office. He left it unlocked for me. He owed me a favor.”He said as his lips work their way down my neck. I arch my neck to the side to grant him easier access. Fuck, I have no willpower around him.
His hand leaves my breast and snakes down my body to the button of my jeans. He hastily unbuttons my pants. I reached for the button on his jeans but he grabs my wrist and pulls them behind my back. He placed both my wrists in his left hand and moves his right back to my zipper.“Stay still”he growls in my ear. Oh hell, I like this demanding Gavin. It’s really freaking hot.
Gavin pulls down the zipper on my jeans and reaches inside my panties finding my swollen clit. He rubs it hard a few times before sinking two fingers inside me. His kisses are passionate, full of desire. I don’t know if it’s the play-by-play, the urgency, the demanding, the risk of getting caught or all of it but I’m ready to explode already.“Oh yeah baby that’s right. Cum on my fingers.”That’s all it takes. Before I realize what’s happened, he’s turned me around, my body is bent over and my hands are positioned in front of me on the desk. Gavin pulls my pants to my ankles; kissing a path down the back of one leg and up the other. He positions himself behind me. I can feel his pants are only halfway down his thighs.“This is going to be hard and fast. Are you ready for it?”I only nod,‘yes’ I can’t do anything else. Gavin grips my hips and slams into me causing me to cry out.“Shh, baby. You have to be quiet.”His voice is hushed. Is he serious? He’s never been like this…this demanding…this raw…this primal and I have to be quiet?
Gavin pulls out and slams back in me several more times before he keeps our bodies joined and moves in short, quick, hard thrusts. It’s more sensation than I’ve ever felt. I’m ready to erupt around him again. He leans over into my ear and whispers“C’mon baby, let go and take me with you.”My skin ripples in goose bumps and I feel him stiffen behind me as we find our release together. When our breathing slows and bodies start to relax he pulls out of me. We quickly dress. Before we walk out of the office he turns me toward him and cups my face. He pulls his lips to mine for a sweet, tender, soul searing kiss. My hands fist in his shirt.
He pulls back slightly.“Are you ok, baby? Was I too rough? You said you could handle all sides of me.”He’s searching my eyes for signs it was too much or I’m angry with him.
“No…uh, yes…uh, I’m ok. I mean no, you weren’t too rough. I loved it. I’d like to see more of that side of you. It’s kinda hot.”Now I’m the one smirking at him. Gavin kisses me again tenderly before we walk out of the office, locking the door behind us.
We make a quick stop off at the restrooms before heading back to the Party Deck. No one seems to have missed us as we return to our seats with fresh beers in hand. Brooklyn looks over at me and arches an eyebrow.
“Well you certainly look relaxed.”I try to fight it but I blush under her stare. I don’t reply just roll my eyes before winking and smirking at her.
“Nice,”she says with a smirk of her own. She tilts her bottle at me. We clink our bottles quietly before nonchalantly turning our attention back to the game.

When the game was over we headed to‘On the River.’Turns out, Gavin actually knows Carver pretty well. Apparently, they went to college together and Carver does some counseling work at the hospital. Which luckily or maybe unluckily means Maggie, Brooklyn’s sister knows Carver, too. I don’t think Brooklyn sees as much humor in this as I do. Gavin invited Carver to the bar with us. When Brooklyn found out he invited Carver she gave Gavin a look that said she was less than pleased but I know my best friend and I know that deep down she wants to know more about Carver. However, actually finding out more is something she probably will not do on her own because it would put her in a situation that is beyond her control.
Jim and Betty went all out for our birthday celebration. They have tons of food and beer. There are lights, streamers and a big banner that read,“Happy Birthday Brooklyn and Hayden”. A large beautiful birthday cake sat at one end of the patio next to the food table. The cake is an off white with white orchids and deep purple calla lily accents. The fire pit in the center of the large patio is already blazing. There are even the makings of s’mores on the food table. They didn’t forget anything.
Betty, Brooklyn’s grandma, Joyce, and my mom called Brooklyn and I up to Betty and Jim’s loft, where they are all smiling mischievously ear-to-ear.
Mom and Joyce are each holding a“Birthday Girl” sash and tiara with pink feathers and fake gems on it like a little girl would wear at her birthday party. “Joyce, Betty and I thought you needed something to set you apart from the rest of the party guest.”My mom says as they present us with the gaudy accessories.
“Gram, are you serious? I am not wearing that.”Brooklyn says crossing her arms over her chest.
“Yeah, seriously, Mom, are you kidding me?”
They all three start laughing, look at each other and then begin to pout at us.“Really Aunt Betty? How old are you ladies? Are you really pouting and batting your eyelashes?”Brooklyn asks incredulously.
“Come on, ladies. Do it for us.” Joyce begs. They look at us with their lips pouting out and their hands clasped together in front of them.
“Ahh, fine!”I say to them.
“Thanks a lot, sucker.”Brooklyn hisses at me.
We allow them to adorn us with the ridiculous sashes and tiaras. Mom and Joyce start taking pictures of us as Betty slips out the door. When they are done we head back downstairs.
“I hate you right now, you know that? Why couldn’t you withstand them?”Brooklyn mumbles to me as we head down the stairs to the bar.
“Don’t worry, I hate me too right now. Besides, you were about to crack, too.”I mumbled right back.
“I know.”She mumbles defeated.“We are suckers for them.”I can only nod my head in agreement as we reluctantly walk into the bar.
As soon as we walk out onto the patio Jim has a microphone to his mouth and announces our arrival on the patio.“Here they are, the birthday girls!”The patio is packed full of our families and friends. They erupt into cheers and clapping.“Please join me in singing them Happy Birthday.”Jim’s voice booms across the sound system and everyone sings Happy Birthday to us. The cake has two sets of candles on them, 33, lit for each of us to blow out. We blow our candles out and everyone cheers some more. I feel very loved at this moment but I’m also feeling quite ridiculous at the same time. I think I need a beer.
Gavin and Jeff are laughing when they walk up to Brooklyn and I handing us each a beer.“Here you go ladies. You look like yo
u could use one of these.”We both give them the evil eye.
“Did you know about this?”I ask as I point at the ridiculous sash and tiara.
Gavin shakes his head no while trying to control his laughter. While Jeff stands next to him nodding his head yes. Not even trying to control his laughter.
“You two are assholes.”I say with an eye roll as Brooklyn and I push past them to go talk to some friends from work. I hear‘Deni come on. You look like a princess’from Gavin in between fits of laughter. Not turning around I give him the one finger salute and continue on. This only brings on more laughter. Oh why did I miss the time I spent with those two in high school? I’m a freaking idiot.
It’s now about one o’clock in the morning. The music is still playing and the beer is still flowing, though, the party is starting to wind down. Most of the party guests have taken off. There are still a few of mine and Brooklyn’s friends from work and a few of Gavin’s. Both of our sisters and their men are still here along with Jeff, Amy and Carver. I’ve noticed Carver watching Brooklyn when he doesn’t think anyone is paying attention.
We are now sitting around the fire pit telling stories and laugh the rest of the night away. I’m sitting on Gavin’s lap just like most of the other girlfriends or wives. He has a beer in one hand and his other arm around my back with his hand at my waist and his thumb just under the hem of my shirt rubbing back and forth over my skin. He squeezes my hip every once in a while making me squirm as need consumes my body. I can feel his desire pressing into my backside. He leans up to my ear and whispers,“Stop squirming”before kissing the side of my neck.
“Cut that out you two.”Jeff makes a noise like he’s getting sick and the rest of the group starts laughing.
“Awe, Jeffy, I bet if you talk real sweet to Amy she’ll fix that jealousy you have going.”I say to Jeff with a sickening sweet smile on my face. I hear a groan come from behind me.
“Don’t count on it.”Amy says as she and I high five. Jeff drops his head onto the back of the chair and shakes it.
Gavin groans behind me and drops his head into my back slightly shaking it back and forth.“Well that fixed that problem.”He says sounding defeated as he lifts me off his lap.“I’m going to get a beer.”
Amy and I started laughing again and hit another high five.“Serves you right for you two laughing at Brooklyn and me earlier.”I holler to his retreating back. Funny, he gave me the same one finger salute I gave him earlier..
After my laughter calmed down I noticed I could hear Brooklyn and Carver talking quietly behind me. I tried to fight the urge not to eaves drop but I couldn’t stop myself. After making sure no one is paying attention I sneak a peek over my shoulder so I won’t draw attention. Brooklyn and Carver are standing next to each other with their backs to the group looking out onto the river. Taking my phone out of my pocket I position it so I can see their reflection in the screen. To anyone else it would look like I’m just holding it but the light from the fire is just enough to help create a reflection and I can watch their body language.
“So why the orchid?”Carver asks without turning to look at Brooklyn.
“Because of the beauty it possesses.”She replies giving nothing away.
They stand there in silence for a few more minutes or at least I can’t hear anything. Then he looks over at her,“Brooklyn?”
She turns her head and looks up at him. He’s a tall guy if Brooklyn at 5’9”has to look up at him. He leans in toward her.‘Kiss her’ runs silently through my head. Instead he leans into her ear. Her body goes still. He smirks and walks off bidding everyone a good night and leaves. I watch as Brooklyn’s head drops back and she blows out the breath she must have been holding.
“What are you doing?”I jump and drop my phone. Gavin is standing in front of me. He just caught me snooping on Brooklyn and Carver, shit!
“Nothing just watching the fire and listening to everyone.”Please don’t call me out in front of everyone.
He smirks and bends down to pick up my phone.“Busted!”he whispers into my ear. He stands up and puts my phone in his pocket. Holding a hand out to me,“Ready to go home birthday girl?”
“Yes, I’m tired and ready for bed.”I take his hand and stand up. Brooklyn comes over to stand next to me. Everyone is starting to gather their stuff to leave. We hug Betty and Jim and thank them for the party. A round of hugs and goodnights and we all head out the door.

The next morning is much less eventful. Today is my actual birthday. After Gavin and I get up and he‘properly wishes me happy birthday’, his words, in the shower, I head across the hall to Brooklyn’s. I need to see how she’s feeling after the copious amount of alcohol we consumed last night, have our annual birthday breakfast on the balcony and get the dirt on her and Carver.
When I walk in Brooklyn is still in her pajama pants and tank top. She’s has the bagels, cream cheese and fruit out on the island ready to head to the balcony. She greets me with a Happy Birthday, a hug and a smile. I walk into the kitchen and grab two champagne flutes off the rack as she grabs the champagne and orange juice for our birthday mimosas. We head to the balcony with our breakfast and beverages. It is a beautiful summer morning. The humidity is low and the air warm. We take a few minutes just to enjoy the morning.
Brooklyn is the first to speak.“So you look rather chipper. I’m guessing you had a good start to your birthday?”
I giggle as I think about my shower this morning.“Yes, my shower was quite…umm…rejuvenating.”
Brooklyn grins, “I’d imagine so with the look on your face. Plus, your shirt is inside out.”
I look and realize she’s right. The thin t-shirt I threw on that matches my lounge pants is on inside out but I don’t care enough to get up and go change.“Oh well. Whatcha gonna do?”I laugh and shrug a shoulder.
“Nothing just enjoy your happy life. You seem to have found your missing piece,”Brooklyn says warmly.
“Yeah, I think I have. I’m really happier than I’ve ever been.”I sigh with contentment and look out to the river. We sit there a few more minutes as I toy with how to ask her about Carver. I’ve noticed the way they look at each other before at work. There is something there. They look at each other with a longing, a familiarity. Not the familiarity of lovers but a familiarity nonetheless. Maybe it’s desire? Hunger? I can’t really place it. Maybe I should just ask her bluntly…hmm?
“So um…where did you and Gavin sneak off to during the game?”Her question interrupts my thoughts and my cheeks heat a bit as images of what Gavin and I did in his friend’s office during the game flood my mind.
“Oh…um…we uh…well…”
Brooklyn gasps and claps her hand over her mouth.“Hayden! Did you sneak off for a quickie?”Brooklyn is almost bouncing with giddy excitement. I cover my face with my hands, to hide the huge grin on my face.
“Maybe?”I say as I spread my fingers and peak through them at Brooklyn.
Brooklyn starts laughing and reaches over and pulls my hands from my face.“Oh H, you need to spill the details now.”
So I do. I tell her everything. I tell her about the play-by-play he was giving me and how he drug me off without giving me a choice. She sits so focused on what I’m telling her. Brooklyn is much more sexually adventurous than me. She has more experience and is more comfortable with her sexuality than I am. I’m the only one that knows all about her preferences and desires and she about mine.
“And?”
“And what?” I ask her confused.
“Did you like that? You told me what happened but not how you feel about it.”
“Oh.”I blush.“Well, hell yeah I liked it. It was hot! I completely understand what you’ve told me about all these years. I hope he shows me that side more.”
“Did you tell him that?”
“Um…no. I can’t tell him that!”My blush has turned into a three alarm fire on my face.“I mean, I did tell him I liked it. He was worried he hurt me. But…I can
t tell him that I want more of that. I can’t tell him I want more dominance. He’d think there’s something wrong with me.”I say feeling quite embarrassed.
“Oh, H. Do you think there is something wrong with me? I mean you know what I like?”She asked me without hurt feelings.
“No, of course I don’t, B, but there is a big difference between you and me. You are comfortable with your sexuality. I’ve only been with two guys, you know that. One only cared about getting off and Gavin well…I don’t know. This is all just so new. I don’t want to screw anything up.”
“H. Look he can’t give you what you want if you’re not honest with him. Just tell him. Gavin isn’t the kind of guy that will judge you. He’s the one who initiated it so he’s obviously into it. Guys don’t just bust out demands if it’s not who they are or what they want. Trust me on this.”
“True but I don’t know if I can. Fuck, I am so lame!”My head drops back against the chair, annoyed with myself.
“Yes, H, you are a little but you’ll get over that.”Brooklyn laughed as she finished her mimosa.
“Ok, time to take me off the hot seat and put you on it, B.”I pin her with a look saying I mean business. She knows what I’m getting ready to ask and she’s starting to get antsy. Interesting.
“Why do I feel like I’m gonna need another drink for this?”
“You probably will. So just pour us both one. Use the big ones.”
Brooklyn gets up and heads into her loft and returns with the oversized wine glasses we use when we know we’re in for a long night. Less interruption due to refills. She makes us each a new“full sized”mimosa and braces herself in her chair for my questions.
