The Twelve Holidates: a Sweet Christmas RomCom Novella Page 8

by Emma St Clair

I pour all of that into my kiss, letting my lips practice the vows I'm going to make. I cup my hands around his cheeks, stroking my fingers down his beard. The kiss slows, and I sigh against his mouth as we pull apart.

“I’m so glad you’re mine, Weston. Finally.”

“You don’t think I’m terrible for pranking all your exes?”

I shake my head, laughing softly. “No. They were all such Chads. Especially Chad. I just have one question. A serious one.”

  “Lay it on me.”

I run my fingers through his dark hair, meeting his caramel eyes with a smile.

“Since I won’t have any more exes, who are we going to prank next?”

Slowly, sweetly, Weston’s mouth meets mine in a kiss that has my heart doing a happy dance. When he pulls back, he grins, lips still grazing mine.

“I think now we both have better things to occupy our time than playing pranks,” he says. “Would you agree?”

I brush my lips across his. “I do,” I tell him.

I like the way that sounds, these words that I’ll soon repeat in front of a church and our family and friends. Maybe in less than six months. That suddenly seems like much too long.

I meet Weston’s eyes, again practicing the promise I can’t wait to say for real. “I do.”

  A Note from Emma

A few weeks ago, I debated trying to write a Christmas novella. I promptly decided I had TOO MANY other book projects happening!

Then I saw this cover, from Sharon at Book Cover Bug, and I had an idea to write a short novella that loosely tied into the romcom series where I’ve been focused.

  Best idea ever!

I had SO MUCH FUN writing this one, which I did mostly from the passenger seat while on a trip with my husband this December. We drove around Texas and I’d type on my phone, then read it out loud to him.

Because it was SUCH a quick turnaround, the editing process was a bit more lax than usual. A HUGE thank you to Devon, Teresa, Marti, Sharon, Priscilla, Lyn, and Marsha for being my eyes. (A few of you might have also read but emailed after I finished—so thankful for you too!!)

I’m super thankful for all of my loyal readers and to my cheerleaders who keep me going.

This series has been my favorite to write! I feel totally immersed in the characters, and even these side characters like Weston and Taylor. If you liked Chase, he’ll be coming back in book four of the series, Falling for Your Best Friend.
