The Good, The Bad & The Dead | Book 1 | Once Upon A Time In An Undead World Page 46

by Grimes, A. L.

Dr Brown had told him to ‘go fuck himself’.

‘What’s your real name?’ he asked Dr Brown.

‘For the last fucking time, it’s Brown.’

‘What’s your first name, Wolfgang, Adolf or something else that has a Nazi connotation?’

‘Anyone ever tell you, you’re a prick.’

‘All the time, anyone ever tell you you’re a liar.’

‘You know my name is George Brown, what do you want from me?’

‘The truth,’ he replied flatly. Dr Coping opened a blind to see Vanessa gnawing at the plastic glass separating them. Her golden hair was streaked with crimson, her lips painted in a joker smile. She had no visible bite marks so the Dr guessed that she had infected the others. She still retained some of her beauty, full lips, chiselled cheeks, narrow eyes that had lost their colour. Her skin had changed from a rose white to a mottled grey verging on mould. Her teeth were stained from an overindulgence of human flesh. He closed the blinds and turned to Dr Brown.

‘Last chance,’ he said. His eyes were full of regret. Vanessa had always been nice to him. Him not so much to her.

‘Is that a threat?’ he laughed at him.

  ‘It is,’ replied Dr Coping.

‘What are you going to do, eat my chocolate?’ Again he laughed loudly.

Dr Coping knew he was getting nowhere. He touched the electronic button that swung the long blinds to the end of the rail. Outside gawping in were twenty-four colleagues all hungry for their flesh.

Dr Brown jumped to his feet. ‘Close them before they get worked up,’ he said. It was too late for that, all of them began slapping the Perspex.

‘I would like to say it has been a pleasure but it hasn’t,’ he said to Dr Brown as he brought his hand down on the automatic door release.

Dr Brown raced across the room to close the door; he wasn’t fast enough. Vanessa caught him in her grasp and clamped her mouth onto the side of his face. Dr Brown began shouting in a language that Dr Coping recognised as German. The dead piled in and began consuming both doctors. Dr Coping died with the knowledge that he was right about one thing even if it was insignificant.

He had started the next mass extinction level – this time, Humans would face their greatest fight.

  To be continued…

  Afterword

I would like to thank the people who have read the world I am attempting to create. This is my first attempt at writing/creating a world to get lost in.

All criticism is welcomed so that I may improve on the next part of the journey.

  Thankyou.
