“We run the Black Widows. You helped us out down there. Good work,” said Arana.

Syala gave him a coy smile that left him feeling silly, almost insignificant.

“We’ll need a lot more pilots like you.”

Spartan watched in silence and remained steely eyed before signalling for Commander Higgins and Holder to join him. The two female warriors stayed nearby, like a pair of heavily armoured, yet incredibly beautiful bodyguards. Nate had heard that Spartan was some kind of super-human soldier, and now he could see at least part of that. He was big, strong, and surrounded by a cast of the Alliance’s best warriors.

  It’s true.

Spartan turned to look at the myriad of assembled personnel.

“Today we’ve struck a major blow against our enemy, and those that have been helping them build weapons of terror. They might call themselves the great and wondrous Star Empire, but to me they are nothing but outcasts and traitors. They’ve betrayed the Byotai, and they’ve infiltrated the Alliance with their agents in CTC.”

He rubbed his chin before continuing.

“Their fleet remains, and a powerful fleet it is. The Star Empire is massing for an invasion, and I intend on being there to help stop them.”

A drop of blood ran down from a cut on his forehead. He ignored it and let it run down to his lip.

“We’re going right back into battle. Are you pilots up to it?”

  Commander Higgins answered without hesitation.

  “The Ironclads are ready, Major.”

  Spartan smiled.

  “Outstanding.”

He then moved towards a fighter and placed a hand on the satin finish of the nose. Spartan stopped and looked to Nate and the others.

“Let’s get these birds cleaned up and ready, then. We’ll be in action in a few days, and you’ve got work to do…Ironclads.”

  ABOUT THIS BOOK

Thank you for taking the time to read the fifth book in my Star Crusader series. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. This novel has been hotly anticipated by my readers for some time now, and brings some of the famous characters of my other series into Nate’s world of space battle and excitement. For those reading my other books, this novel takes places a matter of days after the events of Mercenaries: War Zone where Spartan and the IAB are involved in the final months of the Karnak Conflict.

Book Six of Star Crusader is due in August/September 2016 and will be the climax to this particular phase in Nate’s career as a fighter pilot. I’ve written many other books in the same universe, so please visit my website to check them out. If you have any questions drop me a line, or visit my official Facebook page.
