  “How much are ya up?”

“Oh…I don’t know,” she drawled, walking toward the elevator. “Something like fifty grand.”

“Really? That much, huh?” Poor Darren looked quite ill.

“Yes, Darren. That much.” She couldn’t help but grin again. “In fact, I think it’s about time to go. I want to leave while I’m a winner.”

“Wait a second, ya can’t do that.” Darren followed her onto the lift.

Tucking her hands behind her back, she looked at him dead on. “So I can’t leave when I’m winning. I can’t leave when I’m losing. When do you want to get rid of me exactly?”

Darren copped a smile. “Ah, come on now, baby. Ya know I love entertainin’ my favorite players.”

“I bet you say that to all the women with money in their pockets.” Especially when said money was the casino’s money and said woman was ready to walk out with it.

The bell resounded announcing their arrival on the seventh floor. They walked down the hall together, and Darren said, “I just don’t want ya to feel like ya need to take our money and go. That’s all.”

  Of course he didn’t.

Arriving at her suite, Blaire retrieved a flat keycard from her purse and unlocked her room. “Trust me, Darren. The reasons I’m ready to go are the very reasons you first gave me to stay.” She gave the door a shove and eyed the two handsome devils staring back at her.

“Guys?” Darren studied Kane and Brad. “What are ya still doin’ here?”

  “All set, Blaire?” Kane asked.

  “I’m ready when you are.”

“What’s goin’ on, fellas?” Darren asked, his gaze shifting from one man to the next.

“We’re taking a little road trip. We’re going home with Blaire.”

“What?” The color washed out of Darren’s face. “Ya can’t. Mr. and Mrs. Stevens are due in tomorrow. Mrs. Stevens specifically requested the two of ya.”

“She’ll understand,” Brad said, picking up one of Blaire’s bags.

“What do you mean, she’ll understand? She only wants to see her favorite fellas. I already paid ya the deposit.”

Tossing an envelope to Darren, Kane said, “Here’s your refund.”

Blaire slipped a kiss on Darren’s cheek. “See you next time.”

“We’re out of here,” Kane said, following behind her.

“Ya need to think about what you’re doing, fellas. Are ya out of your blasted minds? What happened to no strings? What happened to keepin’ business and pleasure separate? What happened to workin’ for a living?” He raised his voice with each new question. He trailed behind them and joined them at the elevator. “I can’t believe you’re doin’ this. You’re two of my best.”

“I can vouch for them and say that’s absolutely true,” Blaire said.

Glowering, Darren studied Kane and Brad, apparently under the misguided impression one or both of them would change their minds. “See there, fellas? What’d I tell ya? We receive excellent client reviews on the two of ya.”

A minute later, they exited the elevator and strolled across the casino gaming floor, Darren at their heels. “This is not the way things work in Vegas, guys. If ya ever hope to make it to the big leagues, ya need to stay where ya belong.”

“I don’t have any desire to work in Vegas,” Brad informed him. “Do you, Kane?”

“There isn’t much of a future there,” Kane said, draping his arm around Blaire and kissing her on the forehead. “Out in Nevada, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Lucky for us, Tunica is another story.”
