“Wow.” My brain to mouth function has seemed to have short-circuited.
Chuckling, he squeezes my hip. “Come on, let's get this shit dealt with so I can show you the world.” The way he says that it’s like he really means the world, and who am I to doubt him. Nodding, I push back my shoulders and mentally prepare myself to face her.
“Um, Draven, where is she?” I murmur scanning my eyes around the room again. It's the same size as the club upstairs and the same soft candle-like lighting shimmers across the stone walls making the space feel warm but yet, I don’t see anywhere he could have her. Heading toward the bookshelf that's overflowing with books, I wonder what the hell he is doing.
“Well damn,” I murmur as he presses a gold panel against the wall and the bookshelf slides back creating an opening. Eyes wide, I follow in his footsteps as we head down a hallway with dark stone walls with several metal doors lining each side. Damn, this is what I expected when I first came down here. Looking toward the corners, I notice no cobwebs so not completely the same. Draven laughs and I guess he can read my disappointment.
“Would it hurt to have one spider in here,” I grumble trying not to laugh but I fail miserably the minute his chest rumbles with a deep laugh.
“Oh, you amaze me, my Queen,” he murmurs stopping and wrapping his arms back around me.
“Is that a bad thing,” I whisper.
“Never, you are everything I ever dreamed about and more,” he growls taking my lips in a bruising kiss as my nails run up his inked arms till I reach the ends of his dark hair. Twisting my fingers in the silky strands, I whimper when he groans into my mouth. Pulling back, I smile at the hungry look in his eyes, knowing my eyes are showing equal amounts of hunger.
“Soon, my King.” I brush my lips across his again.
He squeezes my ass. “Fuck that sounds so sexy coming from those lips.” He runs the tip off his finger across my bottom lip and I can’t help opening my mouth and wrapping my tongue around the digit.
“Fuck.” He pulls away roughly, making me giggle. I don’t know where this confidence has come from but damn I love it. I hear the metal latch on the door we stopped in front of being released and I nod at Draven when he pauses to look at me, mentally asking me if I am ready. Lacing my voice with steel, I push my shoulders back and stride into the cell with a strength I could have only dreamed about having a week ago.
“Lorna,” I clip looking at the limp pale figure with thick metal cuffs around her wrists attached to the stone wall. Her head is hanging down so all I can see is the top of her blonde head. Reaching out, I give her a shake but her skin is cold to the touch and now I’m closer, I notice there is a blue hue to her skin.
“Well shit,” I grate out.
“What is it, my Queen,” Draven speaks from the door before coming up behind me as I try to listen for her heartbeat but nothing but still air greets me.
“What the fuck,” Draven growls coming to the same conclusion as me.
Dead. How the hell are we going to get answers now? She’s dead. I don’t know how but I know we won’t stop searching for the answer. His thoughts and mine blend together as we both nod at each other. Relief washes through me knowing she is gone but this just settles that there is another threat we have to deal with. Draven pushes Lorna’s hair out of the way and I gasp when I see the black scorch mark in the middle of her forehead.
“Who could have done this?”
“I don’t know, my Queen, but an uneasy feeling sits like lead in my gut and somehow I think Scarlett has something to do with this.”
“Who is Scarlett?” I scrunch up my brows as jealousy fast and rapid scorches through my veins.
“Easy little one,” he soothes in that deep voice I love so much.
“Scarlett is the little witch that helped Lorna into our apartment.”
A flash of fire like hair and green eyes hit me but I remember the tears that stained her cheeks and the pleas begging Lorna not to hurt me. Looking at my King, he nods, reading my mind and I know the witch did not do what she did on her own accord.
“I will explain later, my Queen, but right now we need to get Crowna down here so we can see how someone could have gotten in here.” He shakes his head and I feel the frustration radiating off him in waves “No one can get in here, no one even knows of its existence except Crowna and myself,” he murmurs his words trailed off.
“We will get the answers, my King,” I say in a firm voice.
“With you by my side, my love, we will get the answers we need,” he agrees, wrapping his arms around my waist once again and leaning his forehead against mine.
”I love you.”
“I have loved you since the day I was created, my Queen. Every time I closed my eyes, I have dreamt of my dark-haired beauty with the broken smile and I vowed to the moon above that I would find you and link our souls together for eternity and never let you go.”
Those words— this vampire has my blood hitting a fever pitch and I’m never letting go— he is mine for all eternity.
“Forever, my King.”
“Forever and then some, my love, my midnight veil, my one true Queen.”
EPILOGUE
With everything still up in the air and some things still left unanswered, the last 48 hours have been a whirlwind of mixed emotions. Interrogating Crowna’s mate for any information she could give us, Draven decided we needed to find somewhere safer than our penthouse until we can find who got into the cells at the club. Scarlett has left on a mission with Crowna by her side to track down her mother and the man that holds her captive.
Turns out that Lorna wanted Draven so much that she went to any measures to get him and that includes involving herself with a Warlock— a warlock that thrives on pain and death and only on how he can manipulate others into doing his bidding. To me, he is a plague set upon the earth and with my King by my side, we will destroy any threat that tries to tear us apart.
The strength and power I feel wrapped in my King’s arms only cements my thoughts. Every hour that passes with him by my side, I grow stronger knowing no matter my path from this day forward, this vampire will be with me every step of the way and together, we will step into the moonlight and cut down the evil that tries to plague the world into darkness. The Ruby heart around my neck warms against my skin reminding me that no matter where I am, I will always have a piece of my King with me.
“We are going to make history, my Queen,” he mumbles into my ear and I close my eyes as a satisfied hum vibrates up my throat.
“Every damn day, my King.”
He is my insatiable desire. He fills me with carnal pleasure.
I crave him as much as he craves me.

About the Author
Hi my name is Kay Maree and I'm a wife, mother of 3 and I love to write Instant Love with twists and turns with a bit of suspense thrown in.
My debut novel is called Angel Mine and was released in early 2017.
I live in Newcastle, on the New South Wales coast of Australia with my husband and three beautiful children.
Between being a taxi for my children, and working full-time, I somehow find the time to write. It’s something I love with a passion and with the encouragement of my very supportive husband, I have accomplished one of my dreams – releasing my first novel.
I hope you fall in love with my characters as much as
I have.
I love reading and getting lost in a good book when I manage to snatch five minutes to myself.
