2Promises Page 32

by Phil Armstrong

“Thank you Beth,” swirled around her head.

With Corom safe she could feel Toshie pass and leave her body for the spiritual domain. Beth felt happy and relieved. A cloud of Indigo fog surged into her mind but one clear image remained before the portal closed. The crystal clear image of an Angel was the clue to the location of the next portal. Beth did not know why but she had an overwhelming feeling that this image would be a part of her future. There was no doubt in her mind that she had felt this happen before she hit the ground. Beth blacked out from the electrical energy surge.

She woke almost immediately and felt embarrassed lying on the floor surrounded by strangers. She looked up at the young man standing over her extending his hand.

He smiled at Beth and in a thick Yorkshire accent said, “You all right? You took a fall over that Shell. Stupid place to put a brass ornament looks like it’s worn because of all the people that’s walked across it.”

“Yeah I’m fine, bruised ego that’s all,” said Beth accepting his hand. Beth instantly felt a surge of energy rush through her arm. A small electrical charge crackled as their hands met. “Must be all this energy,” thought Beth. She brushed herself off and looked at the handsome man before her. He was about five feet ten with hazel eyes, short brown hair, and fit body shape. He wore a plain white tee shirt and loose fitting jeans, black leather belt with black sneakers. He looked good. He smiled at Beth and showed an interest. A deep calming sense of relief swept across Beth so profoundly strong that she almost missed the next words.

“I’m Matt, I’m not used to being in the right place to pick up beautiful women,” he said with a smirk.

“Oh and you think you’ve picked me up do you?” teased Beth.

“I mean lift up, lift up,” he said in an embarrassed yet shy way.

“I’m teasing, Beth’s my name,” said Beth extending her hand for Matt to shake. Matt shook her hand firmly and Beth could see a strong ground aura of Indigo with spokes of Blue, Yellow and Orange. “A good combination for a man,” thought Beth smiling at Matt.

“You sound as if you’re from Yorkshire?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’m from a small village called Cullingworth, near...” Matt was interrupted.

“Haworth, where I live,” she said flirting with her eyes and smoothing her hair into place. Beth felt her tummy growl she was extremely hungry. “Know any good places to eat around here Matt? I’m starving.”

“Sure do, as my dad always used to say, eat breakfast like a? How does it go? Eat breakfast like a King?” he struggled to finish the quote.

“Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince and dinner like a Pauper, Adelle Davis 1904 to 1974,” said Beth quickly. “Thing is I haven’t eaten all day so I’m starving, I’ll be eating like a King tonight,” she laughed. “Thank you Subra, you took the cargo but you left me with a copy of all the quotes,” thought Beth.

“So you’re from Haworth, what a coincidence,” said Matt, making conversation.

“There are no coincidences,” said Beth looking deep into Matt’s eyes.

“Shall we go I know a great little Italian down the way?” he said invitingly.

“Yes, I’ve got a few loose ends I’ll need to clean up tomorrow, but for now let’s eat,” said Beth.

She smiled knowingly; she had kept her two promises to Anwar and Subra.

Beth reached out a hand and took Matt’s. He was a little shocked but smiled his acceptance as the pair walked off together. Beth smiled and glanced up at the small statue of the sly fox as they passed by.

“I also need to go chocolate shopping,” said Beth squeezing Matt’s hand and laughing.

  The End.
