Siiri looked at Irma contentedly, thought about the married couple resting in the round bedroom, and felt unspeakable relief. She was happy about the beautiful death and felt privileged to have witnessed it at such close proximity. She thought it was incredibly wonderful that, at the age of ninety-six, she was surrounded by people like this, with whom she could share the most important things in life. And no longer would she have to investigate the Ambassador’s criminal doings and dubious affairs. Now that Onni was sleeping the eternal sleep, it made no difference whom he’d rented his apartments to and what illicit activities had taken place in them. There was only one thing that still weighed on her.
‘We need to get back to Sunset Grove.’
‘We will,’ Irma said, waving her hand so her gold bracelets jangled. ‘Unless you keel over and kick the bucket first. Döden, döden, döden!’
