“I’ve lived thru several eras and these eyes have seen both horrors and joys. I remember a time when you could ride for days and never see another man. I’ve lived thru wars, ones that were no cause of mine and others I chose. I’ve seen us grow from few to many, seen the birth and death of a town and been instrumental in both. All I want is to know that when the day comes, the clan will continue to grow and prosper. I know that I won’t be getting much rest since I’m here, but I want you all to know that I love you and am confident that you will do me proud!”
Each man approached and hugged him. They all had tears in their eyes. The last to come was Carlo.
Raven looked into the man’s vivid blue eyes, and said. “It is difficult for you to hide your affection!”
Carlo sniffed, then said. “My father was killed when I was a small boy, so I never got to know him. I was raised by a succession of uncles and none really filled the void left by the passing of my father. I met you as an adult and though our relationship is in it’s infancy, you’ve been a father as well as a dear friend. You’ve taught me through your actions what it really means to be a man honor. It is not that I find it difficult to mask my affection, but the thought that in the future I will be without your companionship, affection, wit and wise counsel!”
“You’ve got a silver tongue Carlo, you could talk a cat off the back of a fish truck!”
The men roared with laughter.
“What I want is to enjoy what is left of my life with the people I love. Carlo you have a special responsibility to the family, because you can walk in the white world unmolested. You are not bound by the same strictures of the blacks, so you and yours must serve as eyes and ears for the family, until the time when there is no need to do so. I firmly believe that time is coming. I may not see it, neither you men here, but your sons may, and it is you who will prepare them for that time. Make sure the children are educated like we did all of you. Carlo the continued success and survival of the clan, depends on your success and survival. Let it be known now that Carlo is a brother and to be accorded the respect, love, loyalty, honesty and support that goes with the role. If someone does him harm, they are doing us harm, and we will give no quarter or be a respecter of men! No mercy!”
* CHAPTER # 26 *
Sylvester “Silk” Mathis, was new in town. Silk was a pimp and had brought four whores with him from his hometown, Harlem New York. He drove a brand new Caddilac Sedan and was a flashy dresser. He was also a small time dope dealer with big time plans. He had rented a house in LaVilla and was making a name for himself. He had only been in town a couple of months and had killed two men already. He was paying Pike Richards, who had resorted to extorting from the black business owners. The Kanes were off limits, because they wouldn’t pay in cash, but in the kind of trouble he shied away from.
Silk lay in bed with his bottom woman Bonnie Randle, who was a small perfectly proportioned woman. She had a single gold tooth on her canine. His other three women, Francine Shaw, a tall, dark skinned stunner, with fabulous breast and an apple shaped ass.
Angela Meyers, half white, half black woman with long red hair, a freckled face and luscious body. Lori Smith, a Mexican and black woman with the best of both sides. The skin complexion and hair of Mexico and the lips and body of Africa.
“I think we can make this burg home for a few.” he lisped in his high pitched voice.
Silk was about 6’0” tall, and he weighed a thin 165 pounds. He was of mixed ancestry and it could be seen in his skin color and his demeanor. He wore his long dark hair in a pony tail, his mustache a thin line above his lip. He had striking green eyes
“I got y’all a wife in law on the line and she is just about ready for the stroll.” he said confidently.
“Who is she?” Bonnie asked. “I hope it ain’t one of them raggedy ass ho’s from uptown!”
“Bitch, look around you.” Silk shouted. “You know my taste, and raggedy ho’s ain’t it!” He leaned over and his hand flashed out swiftly and smashed into the side of her face.
It sounded like a pistol shot and her head snapped back. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, as she mumbled. “I’m sorry daddy.”
“You should’ve been sorry before you opened your damn mouth!” he said calmly. “Now get your ass on up and y’all hit the bricks. There’s money out there to be made. Anyway, the woman’s name is Josephine Jensen.”
* Josephine Jensen, was the ring leader of the young Kane women. She was called Josey and was hell on wheels. She had inherited her mother and grandmother’s size. She was 6’0” tall, and a voluptuous 170 pounds. She had huge breast, wide hips, a round fat ass and slanted eyes. She was a dark skinned beauty and she loved the streets, as did her group.
You could always find Josey with Sharon Kane, Matty Kane, Jackie, Von, Marica, Charity, Lorraine, Betty and Raylene Mace.
The young women hit all of the night spots and usually left trouble in their wake. This Friday night they sat in the new Cougar Club, fending off the attention of would be suitors.
“I can’t wait to meet this nigga you keep on talkin bout.” Raylene said. “You make him sound like the best thing to hit planet earth since sunshine!”
All of the women laughed.
Raylene was called Ray by family and friends. She was a small woman who could damn near pass for white, her skin was so light.
“He is sister, and he’s all mine.” Josey said laughing. “He’s supposed to pick me up at 11:00, then we’re going to his place.”
“I just know you ain’t gave him none?” asked Von, who was a cute chubby woman with a beautiful smile.
“If I told y’all the details, y’all draws would get wet. Let me put it this way, he did shit to me, I didn’t even know men did!”
The women all laughed again as Josey went on about her new man.
“Have the men met this guy yet?” Matty asked. Matty was a striking woman with beautiful reddish brown skin.
“I don’t want them to meet him. He doesn’t even know I’m a Kane!” Josey said. “I don’t want him to know either!”
* * * * “I want y’all to go to the hotel and stay there tonight.” said Silk. “I need a little time to pull this bird in the nest. Y’all gonna like her.”
“What time do you want us to come home?” Bonnie asked.
“Get here early, say about 10:00.”
The women went to him and kissed him, then headed for the door. They halted at the sound of his voice. “Just because I ain’t watchin, don’t mean slack up. Since y’all gonna have so much free time I wanna see plenty green when y’all step thru that door!”
* Silk put on the powder blue zoot suit, white silk shirt, a beige tie, with white and powder blue accents. He put on a white straw fedora and cocked it at a rakish angle. He slipped into beige wingtip shoes that were highly glossed. A gold watch and four diamond rings glistened on his hands. He looked at himself in the mirror, then left.
* * * *
“I think Tony Bates likes you, Josey.” stated Raylene. “Girl, when y’all see my man, you’ll see why I don’t like Tony!” Josey said.
A fine, red skinned woman named Doris Mack was an arch enemy of the Kane women. She was once the woman of L.J Sumner, that is until he met Rose Kane, Tim and Lucy’s daughter. Rose stole her man or so she thought. She was in the Cougar Club with her sisters and cousins. Doris couldn’t keep her eyes off of the table where Josey and the others sat. “Look at them ho’s.” Doris said. “They think they can just take what they want and fuck who’s feelings get stepped on!”
“Dee I hope you ain’t fixin to start no shit.” said Doris’s sister Linda.
“I’m just sayin, is all.” Doris replied.
“I know how you is when you get on the subject, fuck L.J! He wasn’t shit anyway besides them girls ain’t the ones took him!“ said Linda.
“All them ho’s just alike, look at them.” Doris said. “Them ho’s would probably steal each other’s men!”
“Oh
girl look!” shouted Myrlie pointing to the front door of the club.
All of the women stared as Silk made his grand entrance. He paused at the door and panned the room, reached inside of his jacket, and pulled out a gold cigarette case. He moved purposely slow, his movement dramatic. He replaced the case, then pulled a gold lighter from his pocket and lit the long cigarette that dangled haughtily from his mouth. He replaced the lighter, then reached up and removed his hat as he again scanned the room. His entrance was a production designed to draw attention, and it had as always worked like a charm. He watched as Josey’s eyes lit up.
“Tell me that ain’t him?” said Betty.
“That’s him,” Josey said. “Ain’t he gorgeous?”
“Leave that one alone Josey.” Betty said seriously. “He’s big trouble, with a capital B.I.G!”
The other women were looking at Silk, as he slowly approached their table with a pleasant smile.
“A man that good looking can’t be good, trust me!” Betty said.
“You talkin like he too good for me.” Josey said hotly. Josey had always been ridiculed because of the color of her skin. And she was sensitive to the racism that existed, even among her own kind. If you were darker than a paper bag, you fell in the nigger category.
“You know I don’t think like that Josey!” said Betty as Silk grew nearer.
“That pretty nigga going to the table with them ho’s!” Doris said angrily as she saw Silk stop in front of Josey.
“Hello beautiful.” Silk said, taking Josey’s hand and pulling her to her feet, where he embraced her and kissed her deeply. Silk worked his tongue in her mouth until she was dazed with lust, then he released her.
“My God man, you tryin to kill her!” Matty said laughing.
Josey stood there swooning, her panties growing increasingly wetter, as he gently squeezed her hand. She gathered her senses and introduced him to her cousins.
The name Kane kept ringing a bell in his head, but he couldn’t remember from where. He sat down and ordered a round of drinks and they just sat and talked. Silk was an engaging conversationalist and had the women hanging on his every word. He looked at the crowd of women and saw a couple of other possibilities and smiled. The fox was in the hen house.
Doris looked at Linda, then rose form the table. Doris was fine, breast, hips, ass, the works. It was topped with her grey eyed beauty. She walked to where Silk sat with Josey, and said. “Excuse me sir, would you like to dance?”
Silk looked up into Doris beautiful face and went into pimp mode. He knew he could have her eating out of his hand, but now wasn’t the time. He made a mental note to get with her later.
“The first thing you should do is apologize to my date, for being so rude and disrespectful!” Silk said sharply. “I know your manners are better than what you’re
displaying!”
Doris mouth dropped open at his retort and she frantically thought of a reply. Before she could speak, Silk rose elegantly from his chair and grasped her elbow.
He had noticed her eyeing the table enviously, so he knew where she was sitting. Quickly he escorted her back to her table and out of ear shot of the other women. He spoke smoothly. “There’s a time and place for everything sweet heart and now is not the time or place. The last thing I’ll allow, is for you to embarrass me or yourself. Leave your number and address with the bartender and I’ll contact you later!”
She looked into his green eyes, and nodded. He turned and started walking back to Josey.
* “Damn girl, did you see how he put her in her place just then?” Charity said loudly.
Josey just sat there, beaming with pride.
“Listen baby, I had hoped that we could go to this nice little restaurant for a late bite.” Silk said to Josey softly. “Of course, I’d hate to take you away form your company!”
Josey looked at the others, then said. “I’ll see y’all tomorrow.
Silk took her hand, bid the others goodnight and headed for the door. He stopped and walked over to the bar, slipped the Bartender a dollar and got Doris’s address. He smiled inwardly at his ability to catch. He walked back to Josey and they went to his car and drove off.
“That nigga was smooth as butter!” Marcia said.
“A little too smooth for my taste.” Betty said, knowingly. “Something about him just don’t fit, but I can’t put my finger on it. He just seems too contrived for me.”
“I get the same feeling.” Lorraine said.
Lorraine was a pretty cocoa brown skinned woman. She was at least 5’10” tall, with a nice shape and slightly slanted eyes. What made Lorraine stand out, was that she was bowlegged
“Y’all talkin like y’all don’t trust the man and y’all don’t even know him!” Von said defensively.
“That’s just the point.” Betty said. “She don’t know him either. A nigga like that is not easily forgotten and he’s too flamboyant to be a low key nigga. He’s into something, what it is, I don’t know!”
“I think you’re right Betty.” Lorraine said. “What kind of nigga don’t want no girls folks to know him?”
“The kind that’s up to something, if I got anything to say about it!” Betty replied.
“Y’all making me scared.” said Jackie, a pretty dark skinned girl. She was tall and fine too. “We need to find them or put the word out before something bad happens!”
“Aw girl please,” said her sister Von. “It ain’t that bad. The nigga ain’t gonna hurt her cause he know we all know what he looks like. Besides, how many pretty men in this town are named Sylvester?”
The woman all laughed and went back to partying. Betty joined in, but still she was bothered by the situation.
* After they had eaten a light meal at the restaurant he told her about. They drove to his home where he gave her the royal treatment.
Josey had been having sex, but nothing like what she experienced with Silk. She had never had her cunt licked and Silk was a master. He licked, sucked, and nibbled on her until she lay quivering on the bed. Then he made passionate, long, gentle love to her with his 10 inch penis.
Josey had never felt the sensations he made her feel. It was like anywhere he touched her, set her off. He knew she was almost ready and he planned to start putting his game down when the others came home in the morning. He would make love to her off and on thru the night, to prime her.
* * * * Bobby, Sha, Roger and Dennis came to the Cougar Club at about 1:30 that night looking for some action. They saw their cousins and walked to their table. “What’s up girl?” asked Sha.
He and the others hugged the girls and got some chairs and sat down.
“Which one of you cheap niggas gonna buy the first round?” Bobby asked, sitting next to Betty. “Damn Betty, you look like somebody just killed your dog or some shit.”
“I’m cool cuz, but I just been thinking about Josey and that nigga!”
“Josey and what nigga?” Bobby asked alertly.
“Some nigga named Sylvester. He from New York and that’s all I know about him.” she said.
“Any of y’all know that nigga Josey left here with?” Bobby asked.
“What nigga?” Sha, Roger and Dennis asked in unison. The conversation at the table turned to Josey and her new man.
“You mean to tell me, y’all let Josey leave here with a stranger?” Sha asked.
“It wasn’t like that.” Charity said. “She been knew him, from where I don’t know.”
“You say this nigga form New York? He a street nigga?” Roger asked.
“He don’t dress like your average nigga off the street. That is one flashy cat!” Von said. “Good looking too!”
Roger looked at the other men, then said. “Red nigga, long hair in a ponytail?”
“Yeah that’s him,” Jackie said. “Y’all know him?”
“Nah, but we done heard bout him.” Sha said. “Come on boys we got to go!”
The four men rose and left the club.
Outside, Sha
looked at the others, and said. “I bet it’s that nigga silk!”
“Yeah it sounds like him, but this time he picked the wrong prey!” Bobby said. “How we gonna find them?”
“It shouldn’t be that hard. All we do is catch his ho’s and they’ll tell us where he is. We don’t need but one of them.” Dennis said. “You wanna bring in the others?”
“Nah, we can do it ourselves. Ain’t no need in the girl being embarrassed in front of everybody.” Bobby said.
The men jumped in two cars and went to find Silk’s whores.
At about 5:00 that morning, Bobby and Sha spotted Bonnie getting out of a car and they drove over to her. She came to the car and leaned in the window.
“Hey babies,” she said seductively. “It’s gonna be extra for two of y’all. My little kitty kat been busy!”
“Get in,” Sha said softly.
Bonnie got in the car and Bobby drove to the place where they agreed to meet, if they found one of the girls. When they pulled up Dennis and Roger were standing by the car with Lori. Bobby, Sha, and Bonnie got out of the car and walked over to the others.
“Hold on a minute fellas.” Bonnie said. “That’s my wife in- law, what have you boys got in mind? A little freaky tonight ain’t we?”
“Nah girl, this ain’t about trickin,” Sha said. “We want some information and y’all gonna give it to us!”
“Information bout what?” Lori asked.
“Bout your nigga, “ Bobby said. “We wanna know how to contact him!”
“I guess y’all got a reason?” Bonnie asked.
Sha stepped to her and slapped her viciously across the face, then said. “Bitch this ain’t no time for questions, what we want is answers!”
“You ain’t have to hit her!” Lori shouted angrily, her hand sliding surreptitiously into her purse. She moved closer to Bonnie, who stood cringing next to Sha. Her hand swiftly left her purse, in it was a gleaming straight Razor, that she slashed swiftly towards Sha’s throat.
